went to the saxon pub on saturday night to see the damn torpedoes do a deep cuts acoustic tom petty set. hadn't been to the saxon pub in forever, but it's the exact same as it ever was. they were doing 4 separately ticketed shows on saturday 4:00 doors cover band 6:00 monte montgomery 8:00 tom petty cover band 10:00 eric tessmer. kicking people out between each show. glad they've found a way to make some money and stay where they are...but holy shit it was like a retirement home in there. tom petty set was alright, didn't love their song selection.

he can do things with guitars i could never dream of doing. he's an insanely good player.

music is boring after 15 mins.

After seeing some of the show, totally agree with this assessment.  Went with my girlfriend, who was hosting clients in a suite, and so we couldn't leave nearly as soon as I wanted to.  What a beating.

I still go to shows there fairly often. I like that the staff don't put up with people talking through/over shows and will respectfully tell them to stfu.

Saw Kansas at a 600 seat venue on Friday night in Clute/Lake Jackson/Richwood area.  Not sure how they got Kansas to play there but it was an amazing show.   All of the musicians were complete pros and the vocals were great.

They did some deep cuts I haven’t heard in decades.  My brother had their albums and I know I heard all those songs at some point.  A few of them were more proggy than I remembered.

A friend of mine does media work for the college where the venue is located.  I texted him during the show to recreate the Two For The Show album cover using a couple of ushers and the programs they gave us.  It worked!

Was at the Billy Strings show on Saturday,. If you’re a fan of what he does then it was a great fucking show. Was cool to see some older bluegrass fans mixed in the floor crowd with all the jamband types.

Crazy to me that a jamgrass band is selling out arenas like Moody center.

Yeah, if I were faced with the choice of seeing Billy Strings or Chris Thile, I'd go with the latter every day of the week.

Why not both
