I imagine that they recover it if they can for no other reason than they don't want anyone else will recover it. I can't imagine that anything on a high tech jet is usable after sitting on the bottom of the ocean.

I doubt an F/A-18 is sensitive enough for a big search and recovery. If they do attempt to retrieve it, the value is in the training and experience gained.
