Seems like him and Bournemouth could work something out to stay. He was really solid for them.

yeah i was pretty surprised to read this.

That’s a nice £5m bit of transfer business if it gets done. Surprised he would want to be a backup when he clearly could start at a lot of clubs.

And the assist, a beautiful chipped pass that sent him in on goal, came from Zubimendi.

Massive. Some night call it an XL signing, in fact.

wanted to come back to this and highlight its importance, especially among of the asinine “arteta has done nothing impressive” (🙄🙄🙄) talk.

ive been an arsenal supporter for 15 years and this is the first time we’ve ever re-signed a world class player in his prime. we either had old players on bloated wages who we couldn’t even sell for any money, or we had great players in their primes who left us as soon as city, barcelona, or united came calling. this is a big deal. if saliba ends up signing a new contract (which i believe he will) then this right here no doubt plays a huge part in that.

this club is night and day from where it was when arteta took over; night and day. and unlike the majority of our rivals, this isn’t a team that’s going to compete for titles one year and then finish 11th, 4th, 7th, 5th, etc. we are in prime position to be competing for everything going forward, and you can’t do that when you *always* lose your best players in their primes, and/or sign them on the downslope of their career. the Big Gabi signing is huge, both for keeping him here, and for what it means/signifies. i don’t care if fans of other teams who don’t even follow this club don’t see it. this was a monumental signing for us, and a great harbinger of things to come.

Lazio reportedly put a €40m price tag on Nuno. if they were to actually get that much for him it would be worth somewhere between €10m - €16m for us with his sell-on fees.

Lot of opportunity to make a strong statement in these first 5.

On the other hand the apparent degree of difficulty also brings in the prospect of bringing back the vibe from the Wenger end days when DT, Troopz et al were losing their shit on a weekly basis.

💯 And that list doesn’t mention MW6 is Newcastle.

Start 5-0-0 +8, and we’ve laid down a marker for the season.

OTOH…, 1-2-2 -2, and it’s “oh shit here we go again.”

Personally, I’d take 3-2-0 if it was offered RN. We haven’t won at Anfield since 2010 IIRC, 115fc should return to form (esp w/ Rodri back and their ~ £500m summer spend), Leeds will be sky high to be back in the PL, manure always seems a tricky fixture for us, and Forest are on the rise.

Not an easy start, but you gotta play all 19 home and away at some point. COYG
