Looking to go with my 2 sons, aged 12 and 14. Wondering what best approach for this game will be to try and get tickets for best value. I'm thinking prices will probably go up closer to game month/week given the hype. Some halfway decent seats are sub-$500 right now. But prices for Michigan fell the night before the game last year to the $200s, not sure if this one will given no resume to refer to and the rabid fan bases, plus recent history in CFB playoff.

I'd be stunned if you could find tickets in the 200s at any point.  I went in 05 and there was absolutely nobody selling and everyone trying to buy.  Granted, that was pre electronic ticket days but the exact same situations apply as then.

Also, prepare your 2 young sons to get yelled at-don't be expecting friendly banter.

It sounds like an amazing experience. That's such a great age, too.

If you can afford it I'd grab the tickets now, that way it's done and you don't have to think about it. Then try not to look at ticket prices after that. They're going to go up. Sure, they may come down at some point, but you're taking risks and you've got a 12 year old and a 14 year old to think about. What I'd recommend is think about it as an investment. Being able to tell your kids they're going for sure, and to get hyped about it, is a gift in and of itself.

I have great memories of going to football games with my Dad at that age. I wouldn't trade them for anything, and very few were close to as big time as heading to the Horseshoe for the opening game with a team as loaded as this one.

But I also often say the easiest thing in the world is to spend someone else's money. If you're trying to cut costs because you're going to have to cut back on meals for a while, or your kids are going to be wearing shoes with holes in them for a year until you can save up the money to replace them, for goodness sakes don't do it. But if a part of you is mostly not wanting to be taken advantage of when lower price tickets could still be available, go ahead and pull the trigger. Let your kids get amped up.

It’s going to be Corso’s last appearance on Gameday. I have to imagine the demand will remain fairly high for that reason beyond even the normal excitement for this particular matchup. For men of a particular age, this will feel like a cultural touchstone in a lot of ways. I’ve got a newborn, and I’m trying to convince myself that missing it won’t be a big deal in the grand scheme of things because I don’t want to leave my wife high and dry for Labor Day weekend…but I’m currently failing. 😂 Unless it’s something where you’re just trying to find the absolute best deal, I’d find something that I’m comfortable with now and just start planning an awesome weekend with your boys. Just get in the door….they’ll remember it as being on the sidelines in 50 years, and it’ll be worth every penny.

You don’t need a game ticket to attend the taping of College GameDay. I can’t imagine there are that many people for whom seeing Corso bookend his career putting on the Brutus head is going to be the difference between attending the game or staying home.

I see it as setting a floor for pricing though. Those that make the effort to get to Columbus for Game Day will be willing to spend to go to the game as long as it isn’t crazy. I just don’t see it coming down from current prices. I think this will probably be the most attended Game Day of all time.

You likely are going to need a ticket to see him put on the hat. I imagine they are going to do that inside the stadium like they have done in the past for noon kick offs.

I agree with this sentiment; if you and your sons go to a lot of games then I’d say wait until the week of (if not the day of) the game and roll the dice. But if this is a rare occasion just shell outt the (potentially extra) cash and get the tix secured early on so that you can enjoy the experience stress-free. Five years from now you’re not going to be kicking yourself over that $450 you could have saved, you’re going to be talking about the great time the three of you had...
