There's another angle in the USA Today article. The guy caught it at the 35 yard line, clutching it by the time he reaches the 31 yard line, which is where the strip-out happens (if it hadn't been caught yet that would be blatant DPI). The ball bounces onto the 25 yard line (no whistle, by the way) and the very well coached receiver picks it up and runs into the end zone in contrast with the very poorly coached players all around him that didn't play to the whistle and instead chose to raise their hands up in celebration (especially #13).

Absolute terrible take, clearly wasn’t a catch

It was a uniquely down year for us. Just 3 years ago Harlingen & San Benito both beat SA schools in round 2, year after that Brownsville Vets made it to the state semis. PSJAN was robbed of a win over Boerne Champion this year. And they’re not a valley team but Laredo United won’t go quietly against LT this upcoming week. We will rise.

Just curious, of this 1-19 who was the valley team that got the single victory over a non-valley team?

The receiver just carried it in his right arm for five yards without catching it? Here's the whole game, first play of the game, explain to me how the ball travels from the 36-/35-yard line to the 25-yard line without having been caught and fumbled?

In 2A, La Villa beat Louise 49-8 in round 1.

I’ve watched this play too many times to count now. What’s clear is the ball is tangled up in both their arms before it pops out. That doesn’t mean the receiver had possession that whole time. It really doesn’t look like the receiver ever had it secure, but you can’t tell. Maybe he did, but there’s no video angle where you can see that for sure. It’s not the worst call in the history of life but it’s also foolish to definitively say it was a catch and fumble. PSJAN was fucked way harder on the very clear strip sack fumble late in the 3rd (that one actually  is easy to see on replay) that would have given them the ball inside the Boerne 15 and a very real chance to go up 28-7. Boerne QB was ruled down instead abd they got to punt and flip the field. It just wasn’t their night.

Keep clinging to that delusion, hope it keeps you warm at night.

I always appreciate your posts in this forum but come on, this is a terrible take based solely on your dislike of Helobius.

Helo’s Thoughts on Round 3:

My rumors of North Shore’s demise were one year premature. They look pretty damn good. They’ll crash and burn next year but they somehow started clicking once the playoffs started.

Look for SA Johnson to shitstomp Steele this weekend. Johnson is led by Helo Homie Elvis Estrada at QB, but their real star who I’ve talked about is freshman WR Braelyn Allen. He has over 1000 yards and 16 TDs this season and will easily be a top 10 player in the country by the time he’s a senior. We need to be all in on recruiting this kid.

Other noted Homie Lorenzo Aguirre will lead undefeated Dickinson against Strake Jesuit. We have an offer out to sophomore Gator CB Royce Bimage. It’s always wild to me how the Jesuit schools aren’t just unbeatable powerhouses, they could get literally any kid in either city to come play for them, no recruiting or transfer restrictions whatsoever. Props to them for not compromising their academic mission.

Laredo United will keep it surprisingly close vs Lake Travis. This is the best United team I’ve seen probably since the mid 2000s. Obviously LT just has too many weapons for the horns to win but a 35-14 or 28-7 score is likely.

after seeing another angle of the play that probably was a bad call. but you don't get "robbed of a win" 15 seconds into a game unless you have a completely defeatist attitude. If there was  15 seconds left in the game, that's a different story.

Are you referring to the previous TWCP coach, Lonnie Madison?  I had to look him up and was surprised to see he was coaching at all much less at Bridgeland.  He was so bad I figured he would be a realtor or insurance salesman these days.

he got the Bridgeland job, definitely a top tier job in Houston if not the state, with a record at that time of 31-30 with 1 career playoff win. Not a single assistant came from TWCP with him to Bridgeland and none of them were promoted as his replacement. He has had to post vacancies on social media which is unbelievable considering what the stature of the program should be (but apparently isn't). Meanwhile another candidate that wasn't even interviewed for the Bridgeland gig went 5-1 in the payoffs in his first season as a head coach at a 5A program that takes their football extremely seriously. they won state his 2nd year so he had an 11-1 career playoff record after 2 seasons as a HC. Madison's first year at Bridgeland they blew a 24-0 lead and lost to Klein Cain in the 1st round, so his career playoff record was 1-2 after 7 years as a HC. In Madison's second year they rode an unbelievable offensive line (both tackles in SEC now, and a couple other kids that will play in college) to the regional finals, and out again in the 1st round his 3rd season. I know families that had sons play for both of the HCs that Bridgeland has had since opening and Madison is as unpopular with his assistants as he is in the community.

And as you well know the replacement at TWCP is 12-0 in his 3rd season as a HC and I would imagine is pretty popular in the community.
