Not sure where this post should be.  But it references "food".  Please move if needed.

Sometime in the late 1970s or early 80s my siblings and cousins were hunting Easter Eggs at my grandmother's house.  She had a chain link fence around her yard.  Someone had the bright idea to remove one of the caps on the anchor posts for the gate and hide an egg in the pipe.  The problem was that, for one, who would look inside a fence posts for an egg, and two, the egg dropped too far down to be retrieved.  My grandmother passed away in 1986 during my sophomore year at UT.  That is the date that I am using to try to determine the timeframe.  After my grandmother's passing the house was sold.  I have always wondered what became of that egg.

A couple of weeks ago my fiancee and I were driving through the town where my grandmother used to live and I was telling her about the egg.  I told her that I wanted to drive by her old house to see if the egg was still there.  Remember, I have not been to her house since the Spring of 86.  We pull up to the house and I walk up to the gate and remove the cap.  The egg was still in there!  I was shocked.  Seeing that egg in there brought back tons of memories of playing in her yard and remembering all of the aunts, uncles, cousins and other relatives that have since passed.

Last week my mother turned 80 and we had a celebration for her.  Naturally there were relatives there that were present at the Easter Egg hunt when the egg was placed in the post.  I showed them the picture of the egg and they were amazed as well.  There are just a handful of us left that remember the egg.  I just hope that the present homeowners never have a reason to disturb it.

I suspect it's just a hollow shell at this point

This has vibes of the possessed Jack-O-Lantern @Prepuce of Doom let nature take its course on in another thread, but the egg is doing much better.
