Oh shit

https://www.pablo.show/p/update-steve-ballmer-sued-by-11-aspiration

Los Angeles Clippers owner Steve Ballmer has just been sued by 11 Aspiration investors who allege that Ballmer used the company — which is now called Catona — “to secretly funnel millions of dollars to star NBA player, Kawhi Leonard.”

According to the complaint: “These funds would be channeled through [Aspiration] to Leonard so that Ballmer could induce Leonard to re-sign with the Clippers by covertly paying him more than allowed by the NBA’s salary cap rules.”

The plaintiffs allege that “Ballmer was complicit in and aided and abetted [co-founder Joe] Sanberg’s fraud for his own self-serving purpose.”

They continue: “Absent Ballmer’s support, [Aspiration] could not have sustained the frauds set forth herein.”

“Plaintiffs,” the lawsuit says, “would not have invested and/or kept their investment in [Aspiration] if Ballmer and Sanberg had disclosed the true nature of Ballmer’s investment"

Awesome, I really hope this doesn't just go away because of the other huge NBA scandal.  Ballmer needs to get his ass beat in court.

Wait, they are suing saying they committed fraud, but only because ballmer enabled them to?

No, they are saying that Ballmer is part of the fraud. He didn't enable the fraud, he committed fraud by funneling cash he put in right back out of the company for his own purposes AND that his investment by virtue of the weight he carries as a legitimate businessman, kept other investors in the company. The whole thing was a sham and he's got the deepest pockets. Zero surprise that other investors are going after him. He's going to claim that he got screwed just like everybody else, but he just used the company as a shell to pay Kawai under the table.

I think you need to re-read it. They are saying exactly what I said. They committed fraud as an organization and now they are suing Ballmer saying he's the one that enabled them to do the fraud.

Look I get it everyone wants him to go down for this and it's obvious as fuck what happened, but ain't shit gonna happen.

No, I think you need to re-read it. It's not the organization/company that is suing Ballmer. It's the other investors in the company who got defrauded who are suing him.

11 investors suing Ballmer, saying he aided and abetted Sandberg’s fraud and they would not have invested if they have known the true nature of Ballmer’s investment (to circumvent the cap and pay KL)

Pretty good breakdown on the lawsuit from David Samson, former president of the Marlins, around how this is suit potentially exposes Ballmer to fraud charges

TLDR - it's probably just a money grab, but they've got Ballmer cornered pretty nicely in that he's now papered as a co-conspirator with Aspiration in aiding their fraud
