They started in Fort Worth. It's right there on Rosedale. It's not in a great part of town. One could reasonably say that it's a rundown and sketchy part of Funkytown. I haven't heard how they were inspired to begin the journey to DC from FW, but they are going 2300 miles one step at a time. It's not without cost.

"On Nov. 19 in Liberty County, a driver in a white pickup truck did not stop fast enough to avoid a pilot car traveling alongside the monks, according to Dayton Interim Police Chief Shane Burleigh. The pickup struck the pilot car, which then hit two of the monks, including Bhante.

The monks are part of a team planning to walk more than 2,000 miles over the course of 110 days through 10 states for what is called their “Walk for Peace.” They began journeying from Fort Worth on Oct. 26 and made a stop in Houston in mid-November."

The monks were walking through Dayton, Texas, last month when a traffic collision hospitalized two, including Bhante Dam Phommasan. The Walk for Peace confirmed he had surgery to remove the leg on Wed

That reel at the top is from Peachtree Georgia. They prayed at the Edmund Pettus bridge. They are being met with large crowds welcoming them to town.

It makes my hard, cold, cynical soul feel something. Maybe it's hope. I don't know. But, I can't deny that they are finding a warmer welcome than I ever thought possible.

I tried to find @Pancho 's thread of good stuff happening but it's buried somewhere. This will have to do.

Odds that the accident was deliberate are greater than zero.

Liberty County? Dayton?

Surprised the dude didn't hit him and then roll coal as he left the scene of the crime.

My wife follows their trail tales on IG. The dog joined them across the pond.

All I got.

They are at 887k on FB. It's growing. I swear they were half of that last week

How long till ICE beats the fuck out of them and disappears them?

They're heading to DC. I grew up knowing that a Buddhist monk set himself on fire in protest of the war in Vietnam. Liberty County already took a leg from one that met them outside of Houston. There have been some people that have protested them already. They won't engage them. They already walked through the Capital grounds in Austin. They could have harassed them unmercifully all the way across the South. But, they get handed off from one jurisdiction to another. No one fucks with them. Mayors come out to meet them. Crowds larger than the little bitty towns where they stop for lunch some days. At the civic center, the EMS facility, wherever they happen to get a spot.

Some churches welcome them. They spent last night at Nazareth Methodist Church in Leesville, SC. I'm not exaggerating when I say there are throngs of people at some stops. The number of protesters is laughably small and bitter.

Stephen Miller hasn't started rounding up mullahs, monks, or preachers yet. I wonder how it's going to look if one of those trigger happy fucks decide to shoot Aloka and take prisoners.

I'm clinging to some hope that we can still find peace.

He HAS started shooting them in the face and calling them terrorists. Seriously, that's what's actually happened.

There's a fair chance we will find out. Remember, they have "absolute immunity" to do whatever they want.

It's going to be like the Pettus bridge. They will beat them and maybe kill them. They won't fight back.
