  1. So fun things are happening with the Spanish national team. Lopetegui taking the Real Madrid job wasn't supposed to become public but players got wind of it and forced their hand. The Barcelona players on the national team are pissed, the cohesion of the team has been fucked and the new President of the federation wants to fire Lopetegui. Good times.
  2. It hurts and helps. A lot of the teams are actually putting an effort into running an academy system. It's a long way from being entirely fruitful and some are better than others, but it's a step in the right direction. Hopefully it will allow teams to identify young talent, give them some development and then move them on to Europe. The quality of play across the league has gotten better too, but that's relative to what it has been. The biggest drawback is that it provides a safe landing spot for USMNT players which is bad. Michael Bradley got sick of competing for a spot in Europe and came to Toronto and his play regressed and he's just one example.
  3. I'm a realist. I know they'll never take such drastic measures. Plus, with Jozy being 29 this Fall they'll give him games to try and catch Deuce and Donovan on the scoring list. The only guy I'd even give a look to who would be over 30 is Nagbe and that's only because he's been pretty damn good playing the holding midfielder for Atlanta United this year and it's a role he never played until now. I'd maybe try him out in that role in some low stakes games to see if there's anything there, but I'd be willing to cut bait quickly. Then again, I'm biased as an Atlanta fan.
  4. The USMNT player pool shouldn't include anybody that will be over 30 at the next World Cup.
  5. And Stinker costs them another game. Has a team 10 games over .500 ever fired a manager midseason before?
  6. Fuck nuts did it again, this time down 2 and Asdrubal Cabrera isn't Mookie but he's the Mets best hitter and the same thing happened. Thankfully Ender and Camargo bailed him out. This team is something man. This run has been fun.
  7. I've been so annoyed with how dumb our guys are on the base paths and then Acuna has to go one up all of them by maybe destroying his leg because he had to turn and signal safe to the umpire on an infield single rather than just running through the base.
  8. Stinker put Matt fuckin' Wisler in to face Mookie fuckin' Betts and he hit a game-sealing home run. Stinker should've been fired immediately.
  9. They scored five runs with two outs. Freeman saw four 2-strike pitches, Markakis saw two 2-strike pitches and Dansby saw four 2-strike pitches. Just a flat out gutsy win. (that said they need to go to a 4.5 man rotation and skip Teheran when they're at home)
  10. Sepinwall had a quote from one of the creators who said in real life the government didn't provide financial support to cover the agents. The agents were expected to run their businesses on their own.
  11. Five hours later I'm still hot at how royally the umpires fucked us tonight.
  12. Hamburg fans took their club's first ever relegation well
  13. Jinder Mahal was among the most reviled heels WWE ever had last year. Last night the crowd CHEERED when he kept Roman Reigns from winning a spot in the MITB match. Vince's obsession with getting Reigns over has gone from annoying to hilariously sad.
  14. Let's say Machado would definitely re-sign, if they have to give up 2 of Gohara, Soroka, Wright and Anderson I'd probably lean no. If they can do it with one of them, Wentz and Riley I'm probably a yes. If they could somehow do it with Wentz, Allard and Riley I'm all in. Seems like the first four I mentioned have separated themselves from the rest of the pitching prospects. I don't know that Newcomb will ever get his walk rate down to be more than a number three guy at best and keeping three of the four of the group at the top gives you some wiggle room if one doesn't cut at the big league level. I tend to be in favor of holding on to prospects though. Pitching prospects are such a crap shoot.
  15. I really liked Infinity War but I'm with you on your spoiler and one of the things that worries me about the next one is
  16. Two of three from Philadelphia and kinda pissed away the series opener because of bad pitching. Albies finished a hair short of being the 4th player since 1990 to have a 1.000 OPS in April in his age 21 season with Griffey, Pujols and Harper. Acuna has reached base safely in 10 of his 22 plate appearances so far. The Braves set a franchise record for runs in April on an RBI double by relief pitcher Jesse Biddle in his first career at bat in his hometown of Philadelphia with his family watching in the stands. I liked the move to hit Albies and Acuna 1-2 and move Ender to 9th. Aside from the Cubs debacle I don't think this month could've gone much better. I really enjoy what this team has done so far.
  17. End of the IC title match was cool and the Rumble was fun, but I'm a sucker for a good battle royal, and otherwise the Greatest Royal Rumble was a huge waste of five hours.
  18. I'm almost 100 percent certain this was from 2009 so you're probably right.
  19. I don't know what you've seen over the past couple of seasons to think "happily ever after" is in the cards for anyone, let alone Phillip.
  20. Because of The Greatest Royal Rumble WWE has pretty much been spinning its wheels going nowhere for three weeks, but I really think the Nakamura heel turn has been done really well. He's way more interesting in the last three weeks than he was in the entirety of his NXT/WWE run the last two years as a face. I thought Anderson running in and taking the Kinshasa for AJ made him a human being instead of just a character. There was an element of realism to it to make it seem like AJ is actually his friend. Wrestling is always at its best when reality and fantasy blend. The Club finally has some depth to them which I like.
  21. I've seen the original too many times to count. I contributed to the GoFundMe or whatever it was to get it made. It was funny enough to make me glad they made it. If you go into it with any higher expectations I imagine you'll be disappointed, but it was funny enough for me.
  22. I watched one episode because my best friend's wife is in it and it was fine. The kind of show you can put on if you're bored and there's nothing else on.
