  5. Man, I totally understand and DO. NOT. ENVY. YOU. or the mods in the slightest. You'd have to live your entire life online to even begin to see everything. I'm mostly CR/DT/Lulz/Movies/Football/Futbol. Others have different browsing behaviors, and we can't keep up with everything. That's enough, though, to spot some of the worst actors for those who spend an unhealthy amount of time in this place.
  6. I'm fairly positive Henderson Horns is Immortal. While he no longer comments much, he's made his presence known through neg reps sans participation. At the same time, he often will just give a simple laughing emoji now rather negging. To be clear, I'm not advocating his erasure, but I pointed him out to simply show that you perhaps don't have the pulse on Surly beyond the sports boards you think you have. Edit: If I recall correctly, Immortal/4Doors's story about his Whataburger being taken involved him leaving Tyler on his way home to Henderson. The same goes with BeardIP. Personally, I don't find him nearly the nuisance others do. Yeah, he's a conservative (whatever that means nowadays) who has a passion for private schooling and wants the State to subsidize him sending his kids to an "academy". He seems fairly self-aware and has a bit of a personality, and is fairly good-natured about shit even if most of the CR sees some of his views as veiled White Christian Nationalism. By contrast, any iteration of GRHorn should be immediately eradicated/scrubbed/wiped from this place. I don't know how shit works on your end of this software, but whatever ties you can find to GRHorn / Satoshi / Caponata / Immaculate Vibes / Humble Beast / Mullet Free / Boss Hogg should be looked into.
  7. We all know that HendersonHorns is Immortal/4doorsMoreWhores, too, right? And that Boss Hogg is GRHorn?
  8. From a pragmatic perspective, we'd better hope that Ukraine can hold out for the very issue mentioned above. At this point, both Ukraine and Russia likely have the largest arsenals and more experience using UAVs in modern warfare than any other nation on Earth. At a minimum, we want Ukraine to remain viable so they can share their knowledge of drone warfare with us because, as dumb as the Russians are, they'll know how to use them better than our NATO allies and us.
  9. @immamac (or one of the other mods) actually did list out specific rules when the site was first getting up and running. Those should probably be tracked down and stickied at the top of "Can you help me with this?" so that we all know what they are.
  10. Imma posted some written rules when the new site was established -- likely buried really deep in this sub. The ones that I remember are: No death threats, death wishes, or telling another poster to kill themselves. No trolling. No doxxing. No NSFW content outside IPIHB. Then, there are reportable offenses itemized as additional specific no-nos. I think Imma also said if three users report a post as anti-LQBTq, it results in an auto-timeout for that poster.
  11. Yep. I've long argued that he keeps at least two to three different accounts running simultaneously for the various forums on the board. I once asked a mod about permabanning. Other than the VPN issue, the mod responded that there were so many accounts tied to the IP address that he was concerned several "innocents" would get killed in the crossfire. It might just be that those innocents comprise his stock of reserve accounts.
  12. These are the credentials of a Texas Supreme Court Justice. Devine graduated in 1980 with a degree in Business Administration and Marketing from Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana. He then joined Shell Oil in Houston, Texas and studied law at the South Texas College of Law in Downtown Houston. After earning his Juris Doctor degree in 1986, he went to work for Brown and Root.[3] Devine was an anti-abortion activist in the 1980s.[1] At a June 2012 rally, Devine said he had been arrested 37 times for protesting at abortion clinics.[1] In 2004, Devine was sued for his refusal to take down a painting of The Ten Commandments on display in his Harris County courtroom. The case drew national attention.[1] Devine and his wife continued a high-risk pregnancy for their seventh child even though the pregnancy was likely to cause the death of both the mother and the child, according to Devine. His wife survived the pregnancy but the child died an hour after birth.[1]
  13. Yeah, well, having only ever lived in Texas and northern France, I can say with high confidence that my monkey brain wouldn't be able to process it either.
  14. No, thank you. I'm not sure whether new construction in NYC has all those earthquake protections, but I'm pretty dang sure most of the older skyscrapers don't. And I certainly wouldn't want to be in one of those already wobbly super-skinnies.

  16. Why? Everybody knows computers don't work in the shade. Duh!
  17. I say Germany should accept the elephants, outfit them with armor, and then hand them over to the Ukrainians for a bitchin' summer offensive. Cossack riders on 20,000 armored elephants with air cover from a drone swarm. That'll leave a fucking mark.
  18. I read elsewhere that Botswana's ecology only has the carrying capacity to accommodate 60,000 elephants. Botswana threatens to deport 20,000 elephants to Germany “No joke.” Botswana’s President Mokgweetsi Masisi has threatened to send 20,000 elephants to Germany as the countries argue over the import of hunting trophies. “No joke,” he told the German tabloid BILD on Tuesday. Masisi attacked the German federal government, and the environment ministry in particular, led by Green minister Steffi Lemke, for seeking to ban the import of trophies despite Botswana’s overpopulation of elephants. “It is very easy to sit in Berlin and have an opinion about our affairs in Botswana. We are paying the price for preserving these animals for the world,” he said. Botswana, home to about 130,000 elephants according to the president, has sent 8,000 to Angola already. “We would also like to make such an offer to the Federal Republic of Germany,” announced Masisi. “We won’t take no for an answer.” “We want our elephants to roam freely. The German weather is bad enough for them,” he added. “If you like them so much, then please accept this gift from us.” Officials from the southern African country already protested a potential U.K. ban on safari hunters importing trophies, warning in March they would send 10,000 elephants to Hyde Park in London. The animal rights organization PETA supports Lemke’s plans to restrict and possibly ban the import, calling trophy hunting “a hobby of rich, jaded people who have more money than morals.” “The horrendous sums that amateur hunters spend on a hunting trip do not end up with the poor population or with a national park administration, but almost exclusively in the pockets of tour operators and hunting farm owners,” a PETA spokesperson told POLITICO. Botswana should ban trophy hunting entirely and instead rely on photo tourism to generate revenue, the spokesperson added, pointing out that living animals would do more for the country’s image. Botswana’s president described his country’s elephant situation as serious. Elephants were trampling people to death, crops were destroyed and villages devastated. He also invited the minister to inspect wildlife protection in Botswana. His country does more “than any other country in the world,” he stressed, adding that a move to ban importing trophies would worsen poverty. Germany’s Federal Ministry for the Environment said that Botswana has “not yet contacted them on this matter”, but that Lemke has “signaled that she will accept Botswana’s invitation if an opportunity arises” to inspect wildlife protection in the southern African country. The German Association for Animal Welfare called the government’s plans “long overdue” and shared a 2022 report with POLITICO, which argues that such hunts, in fact, exacerbate existing inequalities within society instead of diminishing them. Germany is one of the largest importers of hunting trophies in the EU. Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk was unavailable for comment. Cough.
  19. I'm going to guess that they're going to have to start tracking purchases of all manner of drone stuff if they're not already.
