  1. Texas West vs Louisiana, 7PM, LHN for a trip to Williamsport.
  2. Glad Phil has a job in baseball. Best of luck to him in the future.
  3. Thanks for posting ! Very happy for Bocchi. amazin' what a lil' coaching can do
  4. Edit to above post: Congrats to POLL for a great season and winning Texas East. Not easy to make a return trip to the LLWS or any level - lot of pressure.
  5. Yep, POLL's offense went cold - 6 hits and 1 run in 2 games. But credit Louisiana and Oklahoma - their starting pitchers were excellent, very few walks, pounded the zone. POLL did not seem to have that one ace pitcher or position player who carries the team.
  6. Don't closely follow WBB, but pretty certain you are correct.
  7. Louisiana defeats POLL 4-1. Great game. 2-1 game till top of 6th. Louisiana player had a 2 out solo HR and POLL lost composure resulting in another run. Marshall Louque (La) had a no hitter thru 3, no walks, and fell 2 batters short of a complete game due to pitch count. Remember his name, he has a future. Anyone know the catcher for POLL ? Really leads the team - a little fireball. POLL starts the journey thru the loser's bracket vs Okla, 5PM, Sunday. Used several pitchers, no one was over extended. (sayin' there is a chance/gif)
  8. Bohls gives insight on Tulo (excerpts only). My personal feeling on the hire is it can be a great advantage with the risk of becoming a distraction (media). But he’s enjoying himself on an extended vacation that’s taken him and family members to the leather goods stores in Florence, the wineries and villages throughout Italy, the Louvre and what’s left of Notre Dame Cathedral in France. “I like Paris,” Pierce said in a phone call Monday. “I’ve seen a lot of Europe. But you can have Rome. It’s too crazy, it’s too busy. Somehow their chaos works.” Pierce, on the other hand, couldn’t afford not to take some actions. He said he’s always wanted to add a “pro contingent” to his coaching staff and got in the mix with Tulowitzki after former Longhorns great Huston Street phoned Pierce “very much out of the blue” in late June to say his former Colorado Rockies teammate was interested in coaching at UT. Pierce was a bit skeptical at first, but acting on the tip and the endorsements from Street and former UT outfielder Drew Stubbs, he called Tulowitzki and asked that he take 10 days to consider the idea. On the ninth day, an anxious Tulowitzki phoned back. The 34-year-old major-leaguer arrived in Austin two days later along with his wife and son, Taz, and sealed the deal. But can someone for whom hitting seemed to come so easily coach others not as well-equipped? If anything, Tulowitzki said the players he’ll be coaching are “probably more talented than I was at the same age.” Tulowitzki deflected questions about his long-term future and his viability and interest in a job as a major-league manager or general manager, saying he’s always one “to keep the main thing the main thing.” https://www.hookem.com/columns/bohls-pierce-landing-troy-tulowitzki-grand-slam-get-texas-baseball-program/
  9. No idea, but to Pierce's credit, he does seem to have contacts. Re: Sean Allen. Looking at FIU's staff from '08-'11, it doesn't appear Allen was the primary pitching coach, likely just assisted with pitchers and infielders. http://www.thebaseballcube.com/teams/teamPage.asp?T=20041 Hope Pierce assists in finding another team/position for Haig. Been with him for 7 years. Did not see a public statement thanking him for his service and well wishes for the future.
  10. I think you and I agree, she is a good ball player. Hope she does great. Close to home. Great family, Sat next to her parents at a game.
  11. Missed the show. Any news from this or the paysites on Tulo's connection to UT or Austin ? He and his wife are both from California.
  12. Disappointed for Sean Allen if he actively pursued the position. Would have been a great place to begin career as head coach. Good recruiter, seems to be a super individual, jury is out on his prowess as hitting coach. His current salary is 173K so no need for sorrow. https://salaries.texastribune.org/search/?q=sean+allen
  13. 😊 Thanks for your many posts on all events. I feel like I should be paying you. 😊 https://twitter.com/TexasSoftball?ref_src=twsrc^google|twcamp^serp|twgr^author MW has elite only camps. Good idea.
  14. SHSU fans have interesting, incisive comments, especially the last one. End of week announcement seems correct with the waiting period. Texas website Orangebloods says by the end of the week. Phil Haig got let go by Pierce so an Allen Haig combination sounds really good. Sean Allen and Phillip Miller are on the Sam Houston shortlist. Again, Allen is the MAN. His background looks outstanding. Allen as head coach, with Haig as an assistant would be great. Looks like the Horns are cleaning house and Pierce wants new faces. honestly think its Allen unless Sirianni can use the keep the recruiting class together pitch effectively. The fact Pierce let Haig go this late makes me think a paid assistant coach position will open up with Allen leaving that Pierce can fill with a pitching coach. Why I think its Allen. http://www.katfans.com/katsforum/showthread.php?22013-Candidates-to-Replace-Deggs/page4
  15. Must really be a Pierce fan to retrieve a month old post in the softball forum.
  16. I don't Twitter, but emailed Danny Davis at the AAS to thank him for these updates. Never had regular updates in the past. Would encourage you all to consider the same in hopes they will continue. ddavis@statesman.com or twitter @aasdanny This summer, Texas has sent a handful of its players to participate in various collegiate wood bat leagues across the country. These arrangements have set up a few instances in which friends have become foes. For example, Brewster outfielder Duke Ellis drew an eighth-inning walk and stole two bases off of Chatham reliever Dawson Merryman on July 19. When facing Chatham starter Kolby Kubichek on July 7, Ellis walked and then grounded out to his Texas teammate. Ellis will be a senior outfielder for the Longhorns this upcoming spring. Kubichek, meanwhile, will be a sophomore vying for a spot in UT’s rotation. Texas recently signed Merryman, who spent his freshman year at Midland College. Merryman and Kubichek also pitched the last 1 1/3 innings for the East in the Cape Cod League’s all-star game on Sunday. The two pitchers combined for two strikeouts while allowing two hits and a walk. Kubichek earned the victory in the East’s walk-off conquest. 17. SHSU fan forum. Fans like Sean Allen and Miller is mentioned. SHSU AD, Bobby Williams (Rice alumnus), has been there for 19 years. Will be interesting to see the credence he would place on Pierce's recommendation. Kendall Rogers listed Sean Allen, Sirianni, Lance Harvell, Philip Miller, Justin Seely as candidates. Sirianni is a hard no for me. Sean Allen is number 1 followed by Harvell and Seely. Dustin McComas from orangebloods told me Allen and Miller would accept job if offered. An interesting name has come up according to Kendall Rogers. Southeastern Louisiana’s Matt Riser. I believe that would be a great hire. Riser has done a fantastic job in Hammond. I don’t think he will be the hire, however. http://www.katfans.com/katsforum/showthread.php?22013-Candidates-to-Replace-Deggs/page2
  18. https://twitter.com/kendallrogers?lang=en Sean Allen possible candidate for SHSU to replace Matt Deggs. Dustin McComas‏Verified account @DMcComasOB FollowFollow @DMcComasOB More Dustin McComas Retweeted Kendall Rogers If Sam Houston State opens, as it looks like it soon will, it will be something to keep an eye on for #HookEm. Sean Allen would make a lot of sense, and would be on the list.
  19. https://d1baseball.com/columns/broken-man-inspiration/ https://twitter.com/kendallrogers?lang=en Matt Deggs, SHSU, has been hired to replace Robichaux at ULL. A lateral move but Deggs is forever indebted to Robichaux for giving him a second chance of coaching college baseball. Great story in link. Sean Allen is mentioned as a candidate to replace Deggs.
  20. This summer, Texas has sent a handful of its players to participate in various collegiate wood bat leagues across the country. Rising sophomores Kolby Kubichek and Dawson Merryman are pitching for the Chatham Anglers, and both players will participate in the Cape Cod League’s all-star game this weekend. Kubichek appeared in 14 games during his freshman year at Texas while Merryman spent the past year at Midland College. Any momentum gained by Kubichek, Merryman and Cole Quintanilla, who was invited to the California League’s prospects game, could be a benefit for UT’s pitching staff. Texas will retain all-conference ace Bryce Elder in 2020, but two of the spots in its weekend rotation are up for grabs. The ERA posted by Texas in 2019 was its second-worst of the millennium. That 4.37 ERA ranked seventh in the Big 12 and 88th nationally. https://www.hookem.com/2019/07/15/summer-sessions-update-longhorns-playing-collegiate-wood-bat-leagues-2-2/ Summertime at Texas: Update 5 SUMMER TEAM LEAGUE STATISTICS OF Eric Kennedy Santa Barbara California .380 (38-100), 2 HR, 14 RBI, 24 R, 19 SB INF Lance Ford Duluth Northwoods .267 (32-120), 6 2B, 13 RBI, 19 R, 21 BB RHP Kolby Kubichek Chatham Cape Cod 25.0 IP, 1.08 ERA, 29 K, 8 BB, 12 H RHP Ty Madden Chatham Cape Cod 19.1 IP, 3.72 ERA, 19 K, 9 BB, 18 H RHP Dawson Merryman Chatham Cape Cod 11.0 IP, 0.81 ERA, 12 K, 5 BB, 7 H, 4 saves LHP Thomas Burbank Gaithersburg Cal Ripken 29.0 IP, 6.20 ERA, 35 K, 8 BB, 30 H RHP Coy Cobb Wareham Cape Cod 10.0 IP, 5.40 ERA, 9 K, 7 BB, 14 H RHP Cole Quintanilla Santa Barbara California 11.0 IP, 6.75 ERA, 12 K, 6 BB, 13 H

Possible good deal on the '19's though maybe faster depreciation. Excellent ratings by Consumer Reports. . I'm also searching for a vehicle. What is the forum general opinion of Consumer Reports' Vehicle Reviews ? Best of any, highly accurate, or grain of salt ?
  22. http://www.milb.com/milb/stats/stats.jsp?t=t_ibp&cid=400&stn=true&sid=t400 Dang, Mark is hitting .320 with 13 HRs (AAA). Cameron Rupp also on the roster hitting ,204 (ouch) with 3 HRs in only 17 games. Cameron will be 31 in Sep. C'mon home great one, you had a great run. That HR you hit over the CF wall at Rosenblatt to tie the game against Az St in the 9th is still climbing. 23. Thanks for posting ! Good for Michael, hitting .375 in AAA (Padres). Must have been injured, only played in 10 games this year. MLB defensive skills. Team catching woes began when Pierce ran him off. http://www.milb.com/player/index.jsp?sid=milb&player_id=656289#/career/R/hitting/2019/ALL
  24. It was written that Skaggs inherited his athletic ability from his Mom (high school softball coach, former player). First pitch from the rubber leaves no doubt.
  25. http://pointstreak.com/baseball/team_stats.html?teamid=3429&seasonid=31871&view=pitching&pset=1&orderby=era 4 in 8 IP with 1 HBP. Dang, I thought Kamron's WPs could have been affected by McCann but apparently not. imo, with professional level one on one instruction, Kamron could be a great one. Needs to learn to pitch instead of only throw hard - seems to try too much for the K. Was encouraged at the end of the year when he used off speed more, but must have regressed at the Cape. Also, needs to focus only on pitching.
