  1. Based on their assumptions they repeat and accept as fact, they seem to think that Texas runs a payroll similar to the LA Dodgers.
  2. I understand the sentiment, but I offer these counterpoints:
  3. Texas was #4 in the preseason and postseason AP poll.
  4. it’s almost like they choose their “facts” to fit their preconceived/desired narrative (Texas/players aren’t actually good, they’ve just accidentally stumbled into success based on something that is transient/already gone) instead of accepting an undesired conclusion based on what is. Almost.
  5. Well, 11 guys is “at least 8,” so you agree with him here.
  6. That’s because X played for the Chiefs this year.
  7. It’s this. It’s often the difference between converting 3rd downs or RZ plays. Which makes all the difference in tight games.
  8. That’s not exactly how remember it. I think people wanted to see James Brown some, but also Shea Morenz was there with a lot of hype. Also Connor Wood.
  9. I don’t disagree with the sentiment, but I wonder how much the moving between LA and Oakland and now LV has diminished the franchise perception in this way. If the Packers had moved to St Louis, for example, seems like their cachet would be diminished. Watching the Raiders play in a sterile indoor stadium in LV…well it’s different than the Coliseum in Oakland, which added to their “persona”.
  10. I wouldn’t think so, given that the new QB is familiar and figures to be good, and many of the guys absorbing the targets Wingo wasn’t getting will be moving on. Where is he going for a better situation?
  11. Yes, you’re too close to the sun on this one. People on this board think about the things you listed; everybody else thinks “oh yeah, Mack Brown, that awesome Rose Bowl game. Texas won a lot in the ‘00s.” That’s as much detail as most remember. (And it’s not weird that he’s in the HoF - national title + a consistent top-10 team for a decade at a blue blood generally gets you there.)
  12. No we wouldn’t, because nobody outside of a segment of Texas fans thinks about Mack Brown in those terms. Most would simply associate him with 2005 and being in the college football HOF based on his tenure at Texas. I’m not advocating for the celebration of Mack - I’m as ambivalent about him as most on here - but you’re overestimating how much thought the rest of the world outside of an enthusiastic (surly?) cadre of Texas fans has given to Mack’s accomplishments and exit from Texas.
  13. If these dipshits really thought that they ever lived in a world in which the University of fucking Texas couldn’t join any conference it damn well pleased, then that’s 100% on them. They act like it’s a kids’ best friends club. Grow the fuck up, yokels.
