  1. From the thread, “ Yes I know "hey what about Gene Chizik" but he had Cam, who was a generational QB similar to JFF. I don't think Winston was ever in the stratosphere of those two. “ I think the better argument is JFF wasn’t in the same stratosphere as Cam and Jameis...two qbs with real NFL careers.
  2. My exact reaction reading that thread
  3. After a the tough last week, it’s clear that USC is just trying too hard this week because they love each other a lot.
  4. Sorry - wasn’t specific enough. While a Strip property, I didn’t like having to walk through Crystals or other casinos to get to the actual strip.
  5. I stayed there once. I liked the rooms. You probably need to checkout Bardot. I didn’t like not being on the Strip, but it means it’s a lot more subdued. It’s been a while and I didn’t do much on the property, so can’t really help.
  6. Based on having CDC vs Patterson, I have to think the cotton bowl isn’t at risk
  7. I agree with this assessment. It’s why you never see any big 12 team exploit the middle of the field. Coverages. Don’t criticize the system until you can read them. Duh.
  8. Heard that. It sounded like Klatt was more critical of Herman than Beck. Said something like there’s no way Beck is ok with a system that is all cutesy sideline passes and deep balls while the middle of the field is open. I thought he absolutely nailed his analysis. It’s nice to hear someone that can read a defense (maybe not while on the field) say Herman is full of shit. Klatt has become my favorite analyst by a mile.

  10. Counterpoints are easy
  11. TCU 46 Texas 12 Sadly, I don’t see much reason to think our offense will have a pulse and the defense won’t be able to contain the jet sweep/mobile qb.
  12. GDGD 3.0 doesn’t know it exists.

    AP Poll 9/16

SOS doesn’t matter for a mid tier bowl team
  14. That was the right call. Kill shots aren’t allowed anymore. The debate should be about the rule, not the application.
  15. Fine
  16. Herman with the HS shout out to lake Travis...thanks mack
  17. Tears of love
  18. That’s fair. I can’t get past the scheme. It’s like the players have to earn every damn inch. There is no schematic advantage.
  19. Maybe usc is just a really shitty team. We’ll be back to reality next week. Always hope I’m wrong, but I see zero difference from the offense this year over last. Defense is Orlando defense.
  20. CJ jump ball is a sad strategy to rely on
  21. It sounds like you’d be platinum in spending alone at the Cosmo. You should go and get a wraparound terrace suite next trip.
  22. Slot players are incredibly profitable. High theoretical loss and the casino is basically paying floor space, wait staff and the machines. For that level of service, your buddy might be maxing betting penny slots. The casinos also have the risk of ruin going for them. The 10% theoretical return is long run and heavily weighted by max payouts (think lottery). So unless your buddy is very lucky, he’s definitely paying for it. That said, I think Cosmo does a decent job on spend. 5% rebate on all Cosmo spend through points. If you spend $4k in a year without gambling you’re gold tier which comes with 2 nights + 2 companion nights. If I’m going with friends, I’ll get them casino rates on rooms (steep discount), but get the points from the room spend. You can convert the points to Marriott points too. I haven’t really compared to other programs. They are not table game player friendly with comps, but I mostly stick to video poker. They beat other upper end casinos there.
  23. That’s about $5000 theoretical loss a day. So if they treat the suite as a $1200 comp, sounds about right...but seems pretty damn stingy. That’s probably bc the rooms are cash cows and they can afford to reserve them for high rollers. Blackjack guy has average daily theoretical loss of $750. I guarantee penny slots guy has a higher theo than blackjack guy (and the comps prove it). At 14 hours playing $2.50 a bet, he’d be at $1,750 Theo/day.
  24. I think Joel Klatt is great. Enjoy when he comes on the ticket.
  25. He will be...Mensa’s hubris will be his downfall (other than shitty coaching).
