  1. Update: They were able to verify everything (after I emailed my lender and had them do an ACH trace), and actually dropped the car off at 6:00 p.m. this evening, so we have it. It's pretty cool, but the wife is still pretty frustrated with the delivery process.
  2. Now, supposed day of delivery, Tesla is saying that they haven't been able to verify funds from our lender (UFCU), even though we have a confirmation from 5/28 that the loan funded and was sent to Tesla. Car can't be delivered until that is verified. I have purchased plenty of cars in my life, and I can deal with the dealerships games. At least there you can walk out the door with a car, instead of paying literally tens of thousands of dollars with nothing to show for it like we are right now.
  3. Fairfield today: this is bot a fair field!
  4. Nice. Father's day is coming up. Mind sharing where you got that so I can send a link to my wife with some strong hints?
  5. Psych! We uploaded everything, but never go the link to schedule. Went ahead and sold the wife's current car thinking it would be here this weekend. Finally we call and get a hold of someone live; even though the website said we had submitted everything needed, there was an issue with their system reading our insurance card we had uploaded. When we asked what the issue was, it was that the file name wasn't what they expected it to be. Not that it was the wrong format, or corrupted, simply the file name was named incorrectly (we had simply uploaded what our insurance company sent us). My wife's reaction upon hearing that: "You guys are trying to send people to Mars and you can't make a computer read a pdf?" Anyway, we got it cleared up on the phone, and delivery is scheduled for Wednesday. So we sold the car about 4 days too early. Guess my wife will have to chauffeur me to work tomorrow so she has a car during the day.
  6. El Paso out there taking the "we aren't really part of Texas" thing a little too seriously.
  7. Something something South Austin's mom approves.
  8. Change the entire recipe and you have something completely different!
  9. People don’t shit in outhouses? Nuts.
  10. This. I gotta get a fire started and briskets on the pit.
  11. Exactly what I want to start 18 hours of a barbecue cook in.
  12. We just got notice it will be ready this weekend.
  13. Or just buy this at Costco. It’s already cut into uniform disks. Pretty good too.
  14. Texas has the Medical Records Privacy Act which applies HIPAA type protections/obligations to anyone, whether medical personnel or not, who receive protected health information. So, I think the question that we need the answer to, and I'm not the one to answer it, is whether vaccination status qualifies as "protected health information."
  15. Would actually like a copy of that memo, my property manager said we couldn't inquire because of HIPAA and I thought "that doesn't seem right" but didn't really have anything of substance to respond with.
  16. Summer’s almost here, surlies and surlettes. I’m planning to host a barbecue; and actually invite people over. Post vaxxed life is good. And no; your invitation wasn’t lost in the mail. I’m already in possession of two full packer briskets, 9 racks of spare ribs, about 20 lbs of various sausages and 15-20lbs of pork butt. Still need to pick up some turkey breasts. My garage “drink fridge” is currently a small scale butcher shop. The briskets will be going on the smoker at about 9 or 10 on Friday night; then I will space everything out so that it’s all smoked and ready by about noon on Saturday. Hopefully the weather cooperates, but it wouldn’t be the first time I’ve hosted a rainy barbecue if not. What do the rest of you heathens have planned?
  17. Counterpoint: 35 is a ducking death trap. I’ll always avoid it if possible.
  18. At my office (I own the building), we switched to masks optional if vaccinated; mandatory if not vaxxed. Has been great not wearing masks, I’d say about 50% of people visiting the building still wear masks. Shopping today; went to Tractor Supply in Cedar Park, didn’t wear a mask, I was probably in the majority. Later, at Costco on Great Hills (NW Austin), I thought I had a mask in pocket but I didn’t, so I went in instead of going back to the truck for one. I was in the minority not wearing one; I’d say about 95% were wearing masks there even though not required. Anyway, it was kinda strange, but I liked it. My wife is calling me an anti masker now; and I just told her “I trust the science.” Although if I’m out with my kids I’ll still wear my mask - they have to since they are too young for the vaccine, so I’ll continue out of solidarity with them
  19. They are an easy read. Nothing groundbreaking. I liked them, but wouldn't re-read.
  20. This is the type of info I was interested in when I started this thread, not the rest of the CR bs this thread has turned into. Thanks for posting. I mean that sincerely.
  21. My speculation: That was Abbott et al trying to pwn the libs by getting their supporters vaccines first. They just didn’t realize their supporters wouldn’t take the vaccines they set aside for them at the rates needed to really pwn the libs.
