  1. I watched both of my parents die before my eyes in the hospital at separate times. In both cases I had travelled across the country to be with them and in both cases they passed away later on the very same day I arrived in town. It's a bit creepy, but I did get to say goodbye to both of them, which is something.
  2. Limited ceasefire deal agreed to in principal. Sort of. Emphasis seems to be on a halt to attacks on energy infrastructure. I think this means Ukrainian attacks on Russia's oil infrastructure must have had good effect. More to gain for Russia with this focus, I'll bet. Secondly, I saw elsewhere the Russian language release contained additional Ukrainian concessions not mentioned in the US release. Namely, a halt to foreign aid to and intelligence gathering for Ukraine. Seems "win-win", for Putin-Russia. Not so much Ukraine.
  3. True, he has not yet reached out to grab any new territory. But there is a sizable Hungarian speaking population in Zakarpattia Oblast in western Ukraine that Orbán has agitated for before. IF Russia were ever to dismantle Ukraine you can bet that Orbán would get his piece of the pie for his fealty to Putin. He's just not in a position to do anything about at this time.
  4. Not going to happen with today's prices.
  5. Elmo visits the NSA unannounced and has some ideas on how to revamp it. What could go wrong? God help us.
  6. Because some chumps like me will file their taxes faithfully anyway I guess. Someone has to pay for TFG's new Tesla.
  7. Thank you Mr. President for protecting us from, checks notes, female hikers from Germany who have peacefully visited the US multiple times in the past. If we're going to be militant (and wrong even!) about visa fraud can we do Musk next?
  8. Was there, or wasn't there, a shark nearby to provide an option on how to die?
  9. Europe is planning on moving forward without the US. I can't blame them. We are no longer the indispensable country.
  10. The $55.6 billion was for overall economic impact, not direct National Park Service revenue. With that nit picking out of the way, it changes nothing. I don't give a rat's ass if the NPS is "profitable" or not in their own books. The NPS is a national treasure and should be treated as such.
  11. Pissing off our allies and destroying our military export market to own the libs. So much winning. Germany, and others, consider backing out of F-35 orders because of the concern that you know who could withhold parts/service or outright disable (whether that's really possible or not) systems. In other words, the US is no longer to be trusted. I can't blame that line of reasoning at all. The Euro Fighter might not be as good as US aviation but it's better than Russian crap. And it won't be subject to the whims of TFG. I'll bet Saab is looking into replacing the jet engine in Gripens for similar reasons. It's stunning to see partnerships built over 70+ years of generally positive cooperation being blown to bits in just 50 days.
  12. So the Vance family has some redeeming qualities after all. The Vance Thanksgiving gathering is going to be lit!
  13. Surely the US Secretary of State knows that Russia is already on the border with Poland, right? But maybe I assume too much.
  14. Looks like they left out Latvia in 1940 and East Germany in 1953 as well. So many countries being mean to Russia over the years. Thank you, JD?
  15. What could go wrong? At least that plane wasn't WOKE. I think we can safely say that the US has yielded that title. I never thought such a thing was possible.
  16. What would investors think about the "full faith and credit of the United States government" when faced with a regime that just decides not to pay what is owed?
  17. Shit. I heard the local meteorologist mention a radar being out of commission and I didn't for a moment think anything about it. I was still under the impression that I lived in a first world nation and such things are but minor blip that would quickly be rectified and full coverage would return in short order. Fuck this regime!
  18. I feel a little bad about myself right now, because one thought that popped into my head is that the wrong kid died of the measles.
  19. Nice. But it's very likely that all purchases going forward should be for European/South Korean hardware. It's possible TFG is going to refuse to sell parts for this and other American equipment in the near future and preclude our "allies" from doing the same.
  20. They evoked Article V to help us in Afghanistan Lindsey. The only time it's ever been done. Get the fuck out of here with this bullshit.
  21. You mean Brisketexan underestimated how bad things would be? I would not be 100% surprised if Australia pulls out of the AUKUS deal and approaches the French again about their subs. Why on Earth would a nation so firmly tie its self defense to a country with a Trump presidency? His mercurial nature and his Russian slant is a toxic soup of uncertainty and risk that no sane nation should rely on. The stakes are too high. The United States has become the Twitter of countries. Anyone looking for their BlueSky countries? Meanwhile at the Musk daycare facility...
  22. Not being told "thank you" enough. The psychos want Zelenskyy to end every sentence with those words and it still would not be enough.
  23. I'll bet the US frisked Zelenskyy entering the Whitehouse because... reasons.
  24. And look who's gaining by this. I'm so tired of winning!
