Texas
Pinthouse Pizza
We here at The Athletic, being of sound mind and capable of grasping the obvious, deemed Austin one of our nation’s best college towns for beer consumption a while back. So, yes, you could just about spin around with your eyes closed, take four steps and hit a great brewery. A place founded on the principles of beer and pizza going together, though, demands some of your attention. Pinthouse has crafted tons of award-winning IPAs, with its Electric Jellyfish hazy IPA by this point a ubiquitous star. You have to be careful, though, to get the full experience; the Pinthouse Brewing outpost on Ben White Boulevard actually doesn’t serve pizza. The other three Pinthouse locations do, and the one on Burnet Road is probably the best bet for anyone near Texas’ campus. And don’t worry; there are plenty of non-IPA options for those who turn their noses up at such beverages among the 24 in-house and guest taps at Pinthouse Burnet. Burro’s Breakfast lager, anyone?
