  1. Same. When I worked near the Burnet location I would often get the lunch special that was a large salad, pizza roll, and a beer. Their pizza rolls were/are great. Yes... and very tasty.
  2. Turns out homeless people are actually professional picnickers.
  3. Maybe it's like the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame where you have to be nominated for a few years first in whichever genre fits.
  4. There's never a reason/time to behave like that.
  5. I get where you're coming from, but Jesus... please no. I did undergrad there 1992-1996 and just can't relate to the way students (and plenty of non-student locals I'm sure) behaved last night. Yeah, when the women won the title in 1993 there were crowds and craziness, but there wasn't any property destruction like that. I realize it's a different level of significance to an extent, but god damn- there's not a bone in my body that would lead me to behave in the manner I saw in the various videos posted today. It's embarrassing & disappointing to say the least, and I just can't relate to acting that way.
  6. They're gonna burn Wolfforth and Idalou to the ground... maybe even Tahoka.
  7. It was very clear, some people are just slow.
  8. Texas Tech class of '96 checking in. The Lady Raiders won the national title my Freshman year. Wreck 'Em!
  9. Same. Wreck 'em!
  10. While blasting Boats 'N Hoes.
  11. They've started pouring concrete for one of the piers...
  12. Go home dad, you're drunk.
  13. Tuesday is when we eat the birds you fucking savage!
  14. Wait, what's the difference here between the two? I've always been able to order both food and beer from any of the lines or side registers at ABGB at any point during a visit.
  15. For reference I looked at tuition rate increases during my time at Texas Tech (Fall 1992 - Spring 1996). During that time tuition rates increased 62%. I looked it up back in 2004 as part of a discussion on Hornfans, so I might be off a point or two memory-wise but either way that's a pretty substantial increase in 4 years. That said, I'm not trying to minimize how fucked up the amplification of the trend has been since then.
  16. I'm late for a lunch meeting with Cliff Huxtable at the Four Seasons.
  17. I loved her statements in the doc... especially the "she wasn't listening to me so I put her in touch with someone else"- cut to Channing (old thirsty white dude who gave up a tenured position to join Theranos). Lulz.
  18. Agreed about them complementing each other well. I read the book a while back and one thing that you really miss from that vs. the documentary is the facial expressions and vocal inflections of the people interviewed. Some of that was gold- like the Fortune writer's reaction when talking about the FDA report- that was awesome to see & hear.
  19. Next they're going after the Malcolm X bars.
  20. I always use the protected bike lane on 3rd Street for my east/west trips in downtown. Every now and then a cyclist gets their panties in a wad when they see us using scooters in that lane.
  21. Seriously? You actually quoted the new name in your post.
  22. I think the majority of people bitching as if the sky is falling because of scooters are people who live in the burbs and only go downtown a couple times a year... and are mostly repeating what they hear their neighbors say (who also barely ever go downtown). I work downtown and see the reality of it every day. Between my building and the one across the street there are typically ~40 scooters parked along the sidewalk- mostly orderly enough although there's always a stray or two that have been blown over by the wind or just left on unstable ground and fallen over. The city painted designated areas for scooter parking where I work on 2nd street a month or so ago and most people leave them within those boundaries. As for riders acting recklessly, on regular days it's not any different than cyclists have always been downtown. With SXSW there are many more scooters and people downtown than the rest of the year typically and it is certainly pushing some limits, but overall it's not nearly as bad as some here are making it out to be. My co-workers and I use them occasionally to go to lunch or get drinks somewhere a little farther than our immediate area (2nd Street District), and like Mycoxaphloppin said, it's much quicker and better than walking when it's 98 degrees outside if you're only going 6-10 blocks away or something similar where taking an Uber makes little sense.
  23. Yep, they're now Park Terrace. I've been to the High Road a handful of times, it's a nice little setup for the location. The interior certainly retains an old Elks Lodge feel to it.
  24. Plenty good
