  1. Wait, what's the difference here between the two? I've always been able to order both food and beer from any of the lines or side registers at ABGB at any point during a visit.
  2. For reference I looked at tuition rate increases during my time at Texas Tech (Fall 1992 - Spring 1996). During that time tuition rates increased 62%. I looked it up back in 2004 as part of a discussion on Hornfans, so I might be off a point or two memory-wise but either way that's a pretty substantial increase in 4 years. That said, I'm not trying to minimize how fucked up the amplification of the trend has been since then.
  3. I'm late for a lunch meeting with Cliff Huxtable at the Four Seasons.
  4. I loved her statements in the doc... especially the "she wasn't listening to me so I put her in touch with someone else"- cut to Channing (old thirsty white dude who gave up a tenured position to join Theranos). Lulz.
  5. Agreed about them complementing each other well. I read the book a while back and one thing that you really miss from that vs. the documentary is the facial expressions and vocal inflections of the people interviewed. Some of that was gold- like the Fortune writer's reaction when talking about the FDA report- that was awesome to see & hear.
  6. Next they're going after the Malcolm X bars.
  7. I always use the protected bike lane on 3rd Street for my east/west trips in downtown. Every now and then a cyclist gets their panties in a wad when they see us using scooters in that lane.
  8. Seriously? You actually quoted the new name in your post.
  9. I think the majority of people bitching as if the sky is falling because of scooters are people who live in the burbs and only go downtown a couple times a year... and are mostly repeating what they hear their neighbors say (who also barely ever go downtown). I work downtown and see the reality of it every day. Between my building and the one across the street there are typically ~40 scooters parked along the sidewalk- mostly orderly enough although there's always a stray or two that have been blown over by the wind or just left on unstable ground and fallen over. The city painted designated areas for scooter parking where I work on 2nd street a month or so ago and most people leave them within those boundaries. As for riders acting recklessly, on regular days it's not any different than cyclists have always been downtown. With SXSW there are many more scooters and people downtown than the rest of the year typically and it is certainly pushing some limits, but overall it's not nearly as bad as some here are making it out to be. My co-workers and I use them occasionally to go to lunch or get drinks somewhere a little farther than our immediate area (2nd Street District), and like Mycoxaphloppin said, it's much quicker and better than walking when it's 98 degrees outside if you're only going 6-10 blocks away or something similar where taking an Uber makes little sense.
  10. Yep, they're now Park Terrace. I've been to the High Road a handful of times, it's a nice little setup for the location. The interior certainly retains an old Elks Lodge feel to it.
  11. Plenty good
  12. We're certainly fortunate to have so many options these days.
  13. In addition to better pizza, ABGB also has bands 3-4 nights a week as well as a strong variety of other excellent food besides pizza. I'll give them a tie on the beer quality, although PHP gets a little bit of an edge with their expanded variety of house beers. Beer ABGB 1 PHP 1.25 (because they have enough gear to keep a wider variety of house beers on tap regularly) Food ABGB 2 PHP 1 Bands ABGB 1 PHP 0 Which gets us to... ABGB 4 PHP 2.25
  14. Raymond: You guys still go swimmin' in the quarries? Dave: Sure. Raymond: So, the only thing you got to show for my 20 years of work is the holes we left behind?
  15. That's exactly what he's saying. Jesus Christ- are you typically restricted to reading pop-up books or something?
  16. That was Brasky's wife, and that post is buried deep enough on the old site that not even a Proctologist should have to search for it.
  17. Mostly he's shitting on your post is how I interpret it.
  18. It seems like this is certainly a factor. I watched the video to get more context and what the doctor said to them didn't seem poorly delivered or callous... just details about the situation and options moving forward. It seems like he would've delivered it the same way in person, and they had spoken with the same doctor earlier in the day according to the report, so it seems to me they would've been upset either way.
  19. That's what he said? Yes, a lot of it!
  20. Here's a photo of the progress as of this afternoon. Based on how much line is running from system they're using for drilling, those holes are at least 80ft. deep at this point.
  21. Hopefully whatever dignity she may have remaining.
  22. Does that seem to bother her a lot and make her life worse or something?
  23. I like to think he's a Ragist.
  24. My Freshman year at Tech... ended up talking my roommate out of the tail end of a bad Acid Trip shortly after the sun came up. Otherwise it was a hell of a night.
