  1. My sister-in-law knew her pretty well and worked on some charity projects with her while they were both pregnant with daughters. They both named the girls the same name. The two girls recently played on the same volleyball team. Incredibly nice lady and an awesome mother. My SIL is pretty shaken up. Horrible situation.
  2. At Phish’s Coventry festival some guy wheeled a 4 foot high nitrous tank through the crowd right behind me during the show and was selling giant balloons. Very convenient. No security anywhere. The lot was an open marketplace.
  3. Extreme case of something mentioned above: When i’m trying to merge onto 183s in the morning at Anderson Sqare with my blinker on and some asshole speeds up to pass me, keeping me from merging on, only to cut in front of me so he can wait in the mile long line of cars waiting to exit to 35.
  4. We went over spring break and camped at dead horse point state park right near the entrance to canyon lands. It is stunning and lots of stuff filmed there (Thelma and Louise, hbo’s Westworld, ...) arches is pretty small with one entrance get there by 8-8:30 or after 3 or plan on a long wait in your car. Agree on Moab brewery. Cool place. probably wouldn’t work for op, but ~3 hours south of there is Monument Valley. We went horseback riding on my daughter’s 8th b-day with some Navajos and it was one of the coolest experiences of my life.
  5. I must have been sitting right by you, but I got my tix through the A&M lottery for parents since my brother was an Aggie. Tough to tell what was going on from field level in the end zone, but I could see the scoreboard and it was glorious. Being in the middle of the team, giving them high-fives, and singing The Eyes while on the field, facing the band is one of my greatest college memories. We also walked over and lined the walkway from the locker room and cheered the team as they headed to the field for both halves. The crazy intensity in Brackens face and posture as he headed out to destroy them was one of the most intimidating things i’ve ever seen.
  6. I bought the Longhorns one at a flea market for next to nothing back in the 1900’s. The top of the hat lifts up and it is a corked liquor bottle. I’ll have to look to see what brand. Only downside is one of the horns is chipped.

    Hair Metal

I had no idea Jani Lane had died. Acute alcohol poisoning at a Comfort Inn. Interestingly, his Wikipedia page calls Warrant ‘glam metal’ and his birth name was John Kennedy Oswald and he was born 3 months after Kennedy was killed

    Hair Metal

Saw Whitesnake and Warrant open for Motley Crue on different tours. Poison open for David Lee Roth. Skid row open for GnR. Kix and Britney Fox open for Ratt. Tesla with Great White. All between 87 and 92 in Dallas. Oh yeah, can’t leave out Winger at the Music Mill Amphitheater at Six Flags. Loved me some hair metal around middle school age.
  9. There is a pretty interesting 99% invisible podcast about this from a couple years ago. I’ve been interested in this story since then and can’t wait to finish the series.
  10. Motley Crue, 11 years old, 1987 Girls, Girls, Girls tour at Reunion Arena with Whitesnake opening. It was awesome.
  11. Traffic opened for the Dead at my second show. My friend and I were already flying by the time Jerry came out for this. Pretty sure this is from 7/24/94 @ soldier field. The fireworks choreographed to Jimi’s SSB after the encore were mind blowing to my 18 year old self.
