  1. Actual lemon unless Whataburger. Those lemon juice packets aren’t terrible.
  2. Just missed out on a used kegerator today. Still bottling. On a brighter note, the citra-cascade pale I brewed a few weeks back should be ready to try by this weekend.
  3. About 1/2 way through season 2 thanks to this thread. No show has made me laugh this much in years. Agree about the skids though. i go up to Canada every summer to visit my wife’s family. Disappointed that no one turned me on to it up there. I can’t wait to annoy them by quoting shit they were sick of hearing a couple years ago.
  4. Yup and she’s added another masters since. Now she’s a librarian. I think this career might stick. We’re running out of years until it’s retiring age.
  5. My dad’s an engineer and not like this. I’m sure most aren’t. I just found it weird that the most pissed off always seemed to fit this profile.
  6. I did this until I found a shitter on the top floor of Gebauer that was always empty, was its own locking room, and came stocked with a boot full of fresh flowers, spray deodorant and fluffy TP. No one ever talked to me and I used it a couple times a week for a year or two. I told zero people about this slice of heaven on the 40 until now (graduated over 15 years ago)
  7. I been warped by the rain / driven by the snow / I’m drunk and dirty / don’t you know / and i’m still.....willin’ In another time’s forgotten space your eyes looked through your mother’s face ( I wake up in the mornin’ at the crack of two thirty / bad taste in my mouth and my tongue’s feelin’ dirty / light up a smoke without even sayin’ a word
  8. When my wife taught 4th grade math, every year they would have multiple night time meetings with a roomful of angry parents because of this. The angriest were usually engineer dads who never struggled a bit in math and couldn’t understand how anyone could find the old way difficult. It really offended them that the teachers wouldn’t stick with the method that worked so well for them. I know they were engineers because this is the first thing they would tell her before they splained how she should do her job. It drove her crazy since has 2 masters degrees (evolutionary fish biology and education) along with 2 BS’s (biology and chemistry) and her dad is one of the top physicists in the world. She is pretty good at maths, especially at a forth grade level.
  9. I saw James brown, joe cocker, shaggy, the guy from supertramp, and some master of the pan flute not named Zamfir play with an orchestra in Antwerp. Shaggy was the crowd favorite and it wasn’t close.
  10. My wife is a teacher. Lots of grown ups who are bad at math never understood the algorithms that most of us here find so easy and intuitive. The new way of teaching math is just giving kids additional strategies and hopefully one will make sense. Let each kid use the strategy that makes sense to him or her. Hopefully fewer will be left behind with no number sense. if it offends you, teach your own kid whatever the fuck you want on your own time. Let the teachers teach.
  11. Got mine yesterday. For the first time in forever, I won’t mind the drive to work. Excited to have another ‘77 Dancin too. The whole show looks great.
  12. Happy for him but fuck Tennessee. My cousins out there would be insufferable.
  13. My cousin took me to Chandler’s Deli in Knoxville last weekend while there for a wedding. Before going my uncle said that “we don’t want to go there for lunch because we are gonna want to eat dinner at the reception.” it was a complete shithole and 2 of the 12 tables were covered with all kinds of junk like a hoarder lived there. But the fried chicken pieces were huge and way better than anything i’ve had in Austin. The thigh I had was bigger than most breasts at other places and we got 4 wings to go that completely filled up a large to-go container. The sides (greens, m&c, cabbage, etc) were good, too. Recommended. I was still full, but managed to eat dinner that night.
  14. Could be bullshit, but a pharmacist friend goes to scrip clubs with a doctor friend of his. Says he’s heard the friend offer narcotics scripts for buttsex and have it accepted. My friend says he went into the wrong profession.
  15. We took our 7 and 4 year old to the Grand Canyon last year. There was a constant stream of people climbing over rails to get selfies on the edge or have their pic taken with their arms raised up or in a yoga pose. We just kept telling our kids about the stupid lady who fell from ooh aaaaaaaaaaah point and died https://www.nationalgeographic.com/adventure/destinations/united-states/arizona/grand-canyon-national-park/hiking-grand-canyon-safety-tips/ not too long after we got back, this happened: https://www.azcentral.com/story/news/local/arizona-breaking/2018/07/07/illinois-man-falls-death-south-rim-grand-canyon/765916002/

Just went to Sevierville for a wedding over the weekend. My cousin took us to a shithole in Knoxville called Chandler’s Deli. They had some of the best fried chicken i’ve ever had. Easily beat anything in Austin. Really good sides too (greens, Mac & cheese, cabbage, etc.)
  17. SCCLBFR (spicy coconut curry bacon fried rice). My wife and I get this at least once or twice a month. It is pretty spicy and really good.
  18. First of place I ever got gyro meat as a pizza topping. Delicious. I wish more places would offer that.
  19. I made both the chicken tinga and green chile chicken recipes above and both turned out really well. Next i’m looking to make the jerk pork and some sort of curry. My wife made an amazing lamb biryani. I’ll see if I can find the recipe.
  20. Great thread. It’s like that stupid shit people click on Facebook because the premise is so stupid you have to see their justification for it. There are simply too many non-egg breakfast tacos for OP to hold true. The Mexicans I work with looked at me like I was an idiot when I posed this question. Carne guisada and barbacoa tacos are obviously breakfast, not to mention all of the combos of potatoes, bacon, bean, cheese, chorizo, etc. I don’t even understand the debate about taco vs burrito. Both are awesome and have their place. That being said, i’ve never had a breakfast taco that can even remotely measure up to a proper New Mexico breakfast burrito smothered in green. That taco does not exist.
  21. I remember hearing that one of he professors in the pharmacy school, Dr. Robert Williams, that developed that formulation for them. I am sure the university did quite well from that if true. I can’t find anything through google to confirm it though.
  22. And to be fair, I am sure I filled some scripts here and there that I shouldn’t have. I was just so beaten down and exhausted to deal with them at the moment. I always tried to do my part, but sometimes I failed too. It sucks to know that, but I also know I was never a pharmacist that drug seekers wait to see because I was a pushover.
  23. I attended UT pharmacy school around the turn of the century. As far as I know it has been a top 4 school since that time. We were taught that addiction to opioids would not happen when the meds are used correctly, as prescribed, for legitimate pain. As students, no one challenged our highly esteemed faculty on this point. In hindsight it was clearly bullshit and i’ve read a few things implicating the Purdue folks in pushing that false narrative. the complicity in this crisis runs deep on so many levels. Lots of pharmacists weren’t questioning these prescriptions, or worse, were partnering with dirty MDs and cranking them out and making $$$., those of us who did question the RXs were chastised by MDs for questioning them and wasting their precious time. To me, the physicians that enabled their patients have the highest level of responsibility. They are the primary point in the process where access to opioids is granted. I tried to stop patients from getting early refills dozens of not hundreds of times. But 90% of the time I would call the MD and they would say the patient needed it, so I would document the conversation and fill it. Even when I had proof the patients were using multiple doctors and pharmacies. They did not care.
  24. Having to interact with snotty sneezy mouth breathers to sell them cold medicine. (Thank god I left retail)
