  1. We make some senseless mistakes. I know all teams do, but we just can't have 35 sitting much.
  2. Let's bring the pain. For the other side. 🤘
  3. If Miller wants him....
  4. Doug Gottlieb's buyout would be more budget-friendly while yielding similar results.
  5. Not seeing a real rain break coming on radar or in the forecast. Unfortunately, the situation might well continue until late in the night. Maybe we can get one in 24 hours or so from now and then two on Sunday.
  6. Every bit as immutable as aggy's code of honor.
  7. There have been more bad misses by every team lately, true. But we've done it all year, most memorably during those low-scoring stretches in conference. Relentless effort on defense of course also saps your shooting touch, so some of our issue is due to the nonstop intensity of guarding elite offenses. But we have to cash in on more layups and putbacks to knock off SCar again. We beat them earlier by shooting just 44%, so we don't have to go crazy...but please make those gimmes.
  8. If we can just make 90% of the layups you seldom see anyone but us blow, I'll be OK with the outcome. Even if we don't make a 3 and lose by 10. Nothing makes me crazier than missing open 2-footers. And there's been plenty of blame to go around on that.
  9. I'm aware of the stats but haven't watched any of the games. What's the general consensus on how various guys look out there? Old? Gimpy? Just not good enough? I didn't expect any great year, but I also didn't expect this anemic a start. Hopefully it's not who we really are.
  10. If Phelia can guard her own shadow, as I assume she can, on balance she should be an upgrade over Holle. Taking nothing away from the glue the latter has been for this team, but what a huge boost if our team could average 5 ppg more. Phelia should be able to help us do that, even if Jones' replacement is only adequate and Moore remains limited.
  11. Such a savvy draft move that within 6 months, the GM who made it was canned.
  12. I've seen some of those. She's really good and will be a solid spoke on the wheel for Vic. Your point about all-star settings is valid.
  13. Aaliyah Crump looked decent. Wasn't phenomenal but OK. Started for the East, hit a couple shots, made a nice pass or two and grabbed a few boards. But her squad was overwhelmed by the size, skill and intensity of the West, which jumped out to that big early lead and pretty well held it. Most of the East's effective play came from its reserves, including Makeer (SCar commit). She'll be a handful under Staley. Meanwhile, Chavez also lived up to her billing. She didn't win MVP (that went to UCLA-bound teammate Betts), but she took the female 3-point contest. On a positive note, as a Texas fan I did enjoy the couple deep air balls she launched in the game.
  14. Crump's team (East) can barely even get a shot off. The few they've launched have gone astray. Now an 18-0 lead for the West (with Chavez). 😕
  15. Aaliyah vs. Aaliyah (sort of) cranking up now on The Deuce. Hopefully our girl shines. https://africa.espn.com/womens-college-basketball/story/_/id/43584718/girls-mcdonalds-all-american-game-analysis-2025
  16. Stud foundational piece. Now don't let Conwell end his visit without committing.
  17. The way it's gone so far, put 27 wherever he wants to play and sort out the rest.
  18. Matt Painter is Dabo's much bigger brother by another mother.
  19. As the old saying goes, water seeks its own level.
  20. HVL and Prince being totally (wo)manhandled by our D was so satisfying to watch. Shoutout to everyone involved in making that happen. And huge props to the ladies who made clutch shots at key points. Despite that lockdown D, the outcome hung in the balance because we again missed a ton of chippies. The baseline jumpers from Rori and Maddie, that 3 from Lee and the several clutch scores and steals from Kyla were so critical. Just a gutsy effort all around.
  21. I was thrilled when she arrived. I was way more thrilled when she departed.
  22. Yes, her Texas tournament record was better. Then again, elite recruiters in the women's game often have an advantage over their counterparts on the men's side: The female talent pool is thinner, and Cinderellas are thus more rare. But I digress. Neither of those coaches was an overachiever at Texas, to put it gently. Glad they're both long gone.
  23. Bingo. If we're seeking an NCAAW corollary to Shaka's failures with elite talent, Aston's on my short list. At Texas, she was in many ways his mirror image.
  24. I'm not the biggest Miles fan out there, but she's good at some things we've had trouble getting out of our guards. She shoots 40% from deep, passes well and rebounds. Maybe with Phelia's hopeful return our guards do that as a group next year, in which case we won't miss Miles, Chavez or anyone else.
  25. Olivia Miles might make a nice 1-year consolation prize for missing out on AC.
