  1. I like these Nike Killshot 2s that come in an almost burnt-orange color. They're on sale through Amazon Prime today, if anyone's interested. https://a.co/d/2cUvqI0
  2. Try the pre-season uncooked carne guisada. It slams.
  3. Perhaps the reason people aren't opting for the upgrades is because they can google how much it should cost and they find out they're getting ripped off?
  4. You can't drink on the street. Not sure what you mean by "no hanging out, in or out of the bar/venue"? No hanging out in the venue? The streets have been closed Thursday through Saturday night as long as I started going there in the mid-90s. Opening the streets with that many drunks would be terribly unsafe. I don't see any realistic way to enforce a "no loitering" there. It's like Bourbon Street. People just wander from bar to bar. Maybe they should install entry/exit points with metal detectors and make it a "no gun" zone. Obviously increased police presence and more cameras would be helpful in allowing police to intervene in fights much quicker. Otherwise, not sure what you can do.
  5. I wonder how much longer Hole in the Wall can hold out. The drag is a good microcosm of the "growth" of Austin, in general. When I was there it was an eclectic mix of record stores (Sound Exchange), coffee shops (Quacks), arcades (Le Fun), locally-owned restaurants (Texadelphia), bars (the Showdown), crazy-ass scientologists and drag rats. Hippies would sell their beads and shit in the little patio area around the corner from the Co-Op. Now it's just shitty places like urban outfitters and Tyler's. When I was drinking at the Showdown the oldtimers would bitch about how Austin isn't cool like it was in the 70s. It's getting more and more difficult not to regress to that position and complain about how the things that used to make Austin a cool and unique place are all pretty much gone. At least we've got the green belt and barton springs and the Town Lake hike and bike trail. I don't think they can get rid of those things. #ImOld
  6. I assume you had giardiniera on the side as well?
  7. I use Wild Turkey 101 for my old fashioneds. The high rye content of Wild Turkey holds up well, and the high proof holds up against dilution. I keep it simple. 2.25 oz of WT101, 1/4 oz simple, three or four healthy dashes of angostura over a large ice cube. Stir for a good minute. Really gotta stir an old fashioned. Rub rim of glass with orange peel and drop orange peel in drink. Enjoy.
  8. 6th street used to have a diversity of bars, clubs, music venues, restaurants, and entertainment options. Now it's just clubs for college kids. The "recently graduated" moved to west 6th. The music venues all went to red river or the east side. Can't really think of any restaurants. The only places that can survive down there are bars that sell high-volume drinks to people in their early 20s who are down there getting blasted. The homeless shelter's proximity to dirty 6th doesn't help. A buddy of mine ran a music venue off Red River and had to bail because people were shooting up in the alley, shitting behind their club, passing out behind the club, etc. Chronicle just did a story on Dirty 6th. https://www.austinchronicle.com/news/2022-06-17/can-dirty-sixth-be-cleaned-up/
  9. "Really great interview" and "FCB" do not belong in the same sentence.
  10. Don’t tell me to relax. This shit show is your fault you fucking weirdo
  11. Jeeesus fuck. I’m on vacation in Mexico. Check in to confirm we got a dude we thought we were gonna get. And then…… this?
  12. Ray Pickering is the flava flav of Texas football. He’s a hype man. Nothing he says means anything.
  13. This is what happens when we go a whole day without a commitment.
  14. Holy fuck man. Relax. The question was asked "does Arch end up being ranked as a perfect recruit" and I gave my opinion that ultimately I think he'll be dinged a tiny bit. I still think he'll be the #1 overall recruit in the class, but he won't be "perfect" like VY, Rashan Gary, Clowney, etc. There have only been 5 "perfect" recruits in history. Multiple articles have been published this week questioning if he might be overrated. I don't give a fuck about any of that. I don't give a shit about camps. I don't give a shit about elite 11. I don't give a shit about the competition he plays against. But it's enough to instill just a little bit of doubt for the ranking services to consider dinging him a bit. You taking offense to my opinion on where he'll ultimately end up being ranked is an aggie-level overreaction.
  15. I bet they ding him. He plays against dogshit competition, doesn't do camps, didn't participate in the Elite 11, etc. No one has seen him line up against other elite players. Too many questions to give him the perfect ranking. Still happy as shit to have him.
  16. Are we gonna go a whole fucking day without a blue-chip commitment? What is this bullshit?
  17. That's certainly ideal. But any list including Hicks, at this point, is not realistic.
  18. Checking in on this thread and it's ATexanAbroad and Futureman discussing which prospects constitute "real" recruiting momentum.
  19. Yeah. But it's at the same intersection as a Dan's and a Whataburger. Ain't nobody eating at A&W when you've got Dan's across the street.
  20. Haven't seen the new episode but I guess that I was wrong! Interdersting!
  21. In class? Yes. At the grocery store on discontinued products from an obscure brand? No. Because that's something only a psychopath does.
  22. Well, we booked a beach resort with two other families at Playa Paraiso right near Tulum for July 2 - 7. Bummed to find out about the seaweed situation. Also looks like it might rain most of the time we're there. So looking for other shit to do while we're there. My wife wanted to "just book it" and use a travel agent and of course the agency is suggesting cenote trips that cost $100 a person. I'm not dropping $400 to go swimming. Fuck that. Does anyone have a recommendation on cenotes? Any ones that are better than others close to Tulum? Ones that won't be completely jammed up with people, or that are somewhat easy to get to by taxi?
