  1. Salet under patty should be standard. I don't understand why it's not. It helps trap the grease and (somewhat) prevents the bottom bun from getting soggy and dissolving. I also find it helpful to set the burger down upside down after taking bites, as the top bun is always sturdier than the bottom bun. And it's a more natural motion when picking the burger back up.
  2. There have been multiple "simple and easy solutions" favored by the vast majority of Americans that would potentially help address the problem introduced in the Senate killed by Republicans financially beholden to the NRA. That's the reason why nothing "could work out or not", because the NRA and their minions in the Senate (mis)interpret the Second Amendment and unfettered immediate access to any and all firearms as a "right we're (not) willing to surrender". That's the reason.
  3. My wife's a counselor and was a special ed teacher, so I'm acutely aware of their their dedication, motivation, the challenges they face, etc. I understand you think you were praising teachers. And yes, it is a good thing that teachers are motivated despite their low pay. we collectively "value" their dedication to a job that pays little with almost zero opportunity for meaningful salary increase over the course of a career. You see that as some sort of altruistic sacrifice they are making for the greater good. But teachers don't want your gratitude. They want to be "valued" not with your words and target gift cards during teacher appreciation week, but with resources necessary to do their job. Relative to this thread that means more security guards/cops at school, and tighter security restrictions. It also means not having to teach in portable classrooms. It means fewer students per class. It means not having to pay for school supplies out of their own pockets. It means dedicated TAs to help with classroom instruction and grading papers, which they have to do after hours at home at night after already working a 10 hour day. It means not protesting and/or threatening them if they're teaching the sometimes uncomfortable history of our country, or if they acknowledge and accept the sexuality or gender preferences of their students. They want the tools they need to do their job. And we don't equip them with that. And for too long we've taken for granted that "idealistic, altruistic" people will take these essential jobs and teach our kids for us. But I'm not sure how much longer we can expect that. There are currently 573 open teacher positions in AISD alone. And a very large percentage of those aren't going to get filled for the next school year. And it's because we don't pay them enough for them to have to deal with the shit I outlined in the previous paragraph. You ask if I still think qualified and dedicated candidates would want to become teachers if the pay was $100k/year? FUCK YES I do! The more you increase compensation, the higher likelihood you will attract a larger number of more qualified candidates. It's fucking basic economics! If we paid teachers $100k per year, you could count the number of teacher openings on two hands. And maybe then teachers could afford to live in the same city as they kids they teach. I know you aren't bagging on teachers. But we have to stop appreciating teachers with our words and start doing it with $$$. It's just more "thoughts and prayers". Sorry for the rant and to derail a thread that's about dead kids. That's all I'll say on the subject.
  4. Oh, you see, that was parody. I was pretending to be you and making fun of the stupid thing you said - "No question that educators are underpaid.... in a way, it's a good thing because it ensures that those who teach do so for the right reasons." That's what you said. That incredibly fucking shitty thing about it being a good thing teachers are underpaid. Then you double down in the above post by talking about how valued teachers are. Try paying for groceries with "value".
  5. Also, don't tell me it's exclusively a mental health issue while also reducing access to affordable mental health and/or not requiring insurance companies to cover it as part of a health insurance plan. Fuck off with that "we've tried nothing and we're all out of ideas" bullshit.
  6. Fuck off to anyone who uses the old "if a person is crazy he's going to find a way to kill a lot of people. are we going to ban cars next?". It has no relevance to a discussion about how to reduce mass shooter events.
  7. I've been assured that a big fence would keep all immigrants out of America and that ladders don't work on fences. Boom. Problem solved.
  8. Dear people who do an essential and thankless job that I'm too lazy and unqualified to do, Enjoy this shit pay so we all have the peace of mind knowing you're doing this for the "right reasons." Hope you don't get killed by a lunatic acting as a human shield protecting my kid. Enjoy being poor. Sincerely, Braff Zacklin
  9. He'd just offer you $.40 on the dollar after he finds out that 60% of the posters are Derka socks
  10. Hey @UnivTex34, can you explain what in my post quoted above, that I tried SO FUCKING HARD not to cloak room, that would compel you to neg rep me? I've had some whiskey, and I fucking hate bitching about rep, but when you see a giant "fuck you" finger on a post about the challenges that our educators, wives, and children face on a day to day basis, it kinda pisses me off. Be better, asshole
  11. That’s because we woefully underfund our public schools. We have decided it’s too expensive (read: we will never raise taxes ever) to retrofit our existing infrastructure to provide the necessary safeguards to protect our children from these kids of tragedies. Fuck, many of the schools in Austin have multiple portables with no more protection than a latch lock. I’d be interested to know what district the poster at the beginning of the thread lives in whose kid goes to a school with bulletproof glass and armed guards at a single entrance. We can talk about the second amendment all we want. That’s a discussion for the cloak room. But we won’t even consider allocating public dollars to infrastructure improvements that could help make it more difficult for active shooters to successfully carry out these horrific events. We’ve got 35+ kids to a classroom. No armed cops or security guards on campus. Portables. Underpaid and over stressed teachers and administration. Shit, my wife is an elementary school counselor in AISD and they received literal death threats during pride week. The reasons for which are probably a cloak room thread. But I hope we all can agree that teachers and school administrators shouldn’t have to deal with death threats for political reasons, or from psychotic 18 year old fuckfaces like this guy. Something has to change. A lot of things have to change.
  12. Well, considering one of their mothers was just executed by their own son, I'd say you got your wish.
  13. Started this on Sunday night and finished it today. Fucking incredible. Loved it. Can't wait for Season 2. Finale answered just enough questions and set in motion a ton of shit for season 2. I figure that I don't have to spoiler anything at this point, as the series is like two months old now. But plot-discussion below.... Obviously outie Irv's having crossover memories, as he's been obsessively painting the entrance to the testing floor, probably because he's been sent down there to "reset" multiple times. As for why he's investigating Lumon, who fucking knows. I'm inferring that people who have been severed either are experiencing these "crossover" memories leading them to investigate Lumon. Or that they just have a sense that something is fucked up. What I don't understand is why these "outies" continue to go to work if they're feeling something isn't right about what's going on with their "innie" selves. I think they'll have to address that in season 2. If Irv think's something's fucked up, why doesn't he just stop going to work and get a new job?

    Burgers

They've switched to counter service with a food runner. No servers. I think that's more than fair.

    Burgers

I still love Dirty's, but I went there last week and a large DH, a side of cheese tots and an iced tea with a 15% tip came out to $20. That's pretty fucking expensive for what you get.
  17. Breaking news from Vegas - The spread on the A&M/Bama game is now up to Bama -72.5
  18. This tweet would have been great without the last sentence. He made a good point. Then he had to go all political and fucking ruin it. He seems like a twat waffle.
  19. Probably was something else that killed him. Definitely not the highly toxic toad poison.
