  1. Holy fuck. Elon Musk did not go to Texas. Elon Musk has shown no interest in sports. Elon Musk doesn't give his money away to legitimate charitable causes, much less directly to 17 year old football players. Can we stop talking about Elon Musk? It's only going to lead to cloak room bullshit because of his public persona and association with the incoming Presidential administration.
  2. He had an uncanny ability to slide up a step or 2 into a sack, though. He did that shit all the fucking time.
  3. After the top 8 teams or so, I don't think it matters. Those are Tier 2 teams that didn't do enough to convincingly earn a spot in the CFP (except Arizona State, who earned a spot by winning their conference championship game). And at that point it's somewhat subjective. If you're trying to answer the question of "who do you think is a better team", you have to weigh potential and results. Alabama certainly has the capability to beat any team in the country. But you also have to take into consideration how they performed on the field. Their loss to OU was so pathetic and embarrassing that it was disqualifying and relegated them to the second tier of schools who did not earn a spot but were hoping for one. If they would have beat OU, they would have been in. Simple as that. But they didn't. I don't give a shit how you rank any of the schools between 9 and 17 in the AP poll. They're all Tier 2 teams this year. Also, sorry to derail this thread. I'll stfu now.
  4. Sure. But OSU didn't lose 3 regular season games. They didn't lose to Washington (in-conference with the same record as OU) by three touchdowns. The other game they lost was to the team that was ranked #1 in the country for longer than any other team. And then they avenged that loss in the playoffs. They were already in when they lost to Michigan.
  5. Sagarin currently has Alabama ranked #8 despite getting curb stopped by a shitty OU squad with a losing record, losing to a shitty Michigan team in their bowl game, and managing to drop two other games along the way. I don't give a shit what they computers say. Alabama isn't a top 10 team and didn't deserve to be in the playoffs, all of which was hilariously proven in one of the better "ball don't lie" moments when lowly Michigan beat them.
  6. I know they have sand trucks. I'm asking if they spray salt. Sand helps with traction. Salt keeps ice from forming. Sanding does very little to mitigate the formation of ice. Salt does. That being said, I don't think it's gonna matter based on current forecast models.
  7. Well, that's good news. I think it'll be fine once the temps rise above freezing. My app doesn't show it dropping below freezing between tonight and Friday night.
  8. Does Dallas have salt trucks? When I grew up they sprayed sand on the streets to help with traction, but that doesn't melt ice. I wouldn't be too concerned about land, as it does need to freeze pretty deep in order to ice roads that are land-bound. It's the many, many bridges that you have to be concerned about. That shit will freeze in minutes.
  9. the fact that the 12 team format didn't exist is why you can't say that a CFP appearance is better than a NY6 win. Iowa State certainly would have made the playoffs in 2020, as the selection committee had them 6th the second to last week, and 10 the week they selected the four CFP participants. And Fleck's team likely would have made the playoffs in 2016 if the current rules were applied. So all three teams we are discussing would have made the CFP. Iowa State and WM would not have earned buys like Arizona State did this year. I agree with your premise that Dillingham has a more polished resume and will be better positioned to succeed long-term. But I'm not sure you can definitively say this year's Arizona State season was more impressive than the 2016 WM or 2020 Iowa State seasons.
  10. Sort of disagree? the #33 rated player in the country is a 4-star. So is the number 350 ranked dude. There is quite the gulf between the two, necessitating some qualification between a low 4-star, mid 4-star and high 4-star. I don't mind it. I just wish the rankings correlated to industry averages instead of OTF's own unpublished internal rankings system. Seems they inflate guys that show interest in texas when you compare them to how 247 and on3 have them ranked. On that note, I noticed that On3 has now paywalled how each service ranks a recruit. That sucks because when I wanted to see how a kid was ranked, I would go to On3. Now I guess I'll just go to 247.
  11. Subjective opinions from guys named Kegan on twitter aren’t data points. that being said, I’ve been very happy with Baker in year one after a bit of a shaky start.
  12. Quinn is a very good college QB who has led our team to the two greatest seasons we have experienced in twenty years. He deserves all the fucking flowers we can throw his way. He also has the chance to improve his draft stock tremendously over the next few days/weeks. And we are all rooting for that to happen. That being said, he’s been tremendously frustrating at times. He’s fragile and gets hurt a lot. He’s been hesitant at critical times. He’s been inaccurate with his deep ball when his WRs have been open. It’s definitely time to move on to Arch, as Quinn has had three seasons to show what he can do, especially when you consider he was a consensus #1 overall player in his class. Something that even Arch cant claim (because Rivals are fucking dipshits). He’s gonna have options and I hope he chooses the one that’s best for him and whatever he prioritizes. That might be NFL opportunities or with another college team. Regardless, I’ll always fucking love the dude because of what he gave to this team, and what he might be able to do while he’s still on the team. Fucking hook em, morherfuckers.
  13. You misspelled drug test.
  14. I wish we put teams away like this.
  15. They're also the four most successful teams in the SEC and don't need the distraction. Alabama could use the money, though.....
  16. National Letters of Intent do not exist anymore. I think the only thing binding under the current structure is scholarship papers, which binds the school to the recruit, but not vice versa. Theoretically, anyone who just "signed" can just enroll somewhere else, correct? Kind of makes national signing day a ceremony and somewhat meaningless.
  17. fwiw, Finkley's mother (the doctor) continues to be very pro-Texas on twitter. Good kid good family. Mack Brown special.
  18. Nope. He's already been passed up by younger guys like Collins. And we took three edge players this year too. He came in with a maxed out body. He doesn't have the physical tools or the twitch to play at Texas. Maybe he goes to a place like Rice and starts and gets an elite degree.
  19. He wants to play and was never gonna play here. I don't get the sense this one's about money.
  20. You will burn through it very fast. And there are only six one-hour episodes per season. It's truly excellent.
  21. Finally went to see this yesterday with the kids. This movie was terrible. It lacked everything that made the first movie so great. The songs were written like a bad LMM tribute band. The plot had zero cohesion. The bad guy was.... a storm? What was the conflict? Why did they need to find the island or connect with other people when things seemed to be going great for their people on their island? What was the existential threat? This film was a total mess.
