  1. what the fuck am I not doing with the new “x.com” bullshit from Twitter? It won’t fucking embed! https://x.com/espnfc/status/1694371186849751145?
  2. Spanish football federation (RFEF) president Luis Rubiales plans to resign Friday after FIFA opened disciplinary proceedings against him over his unsolicited kiss of player Jenni Hermoso, sources have confirmed to ESPN's Rodrigo Faez. Rubiales' position had grown increasingly untenable since his behaviour after Spain won the World Cup by beating England in the final in Sydney this past Sunday. The kiss forced on the lips of Hermoso has garnered most of the headlines, but he was also seen effusively hugging other Spain players and kissing them on the cheek. Before that, immediately after Spain's victory, he had also grabbed his crotch in a victory gesture with 16-year-old Princess Infanta Sofía and Queen Letizia of Spain standing nearby. Rubiales' immediate response was to label those criticising his behaviour as "idiots," although as the backlash grew, he later published an apology. The incident sparked outrage within and outside Spain, with many, including government ministers, demanding his resignation. Spain's acting prime minister, Pedro Sánchez, said the apology was "insufficient and inadequate" as the pressure began to mount on Rubiales to step down from his role. Meanwhile, the acting second deputy prime minister, Yolanda Díaz, called for Rubiales to "resign" from his post after his actions. High-ranking figures across the government and Spanish sport expressed similar opinions. Irene Montero, the minister for equality, described it as a "form of sexual violence," with clubs also weighing in on the situation. Pressure continued to mount during the week after FIFA opened disciplinary proceedings against Rubiales and after Hermoso, in a joint statement with her union, said that such acts "should never go unpunished." Lower-league side Sant Andreu were the first to demand Rubiales' resignation via a statement, while Ángel Torres, president of LaLiga side Getafe, condemned his "deplorable behaviour" and said he should not remain as the RFEF president "for even a minute more." Internationally, Rubiales' behaviour was condemned by United States forward Megan Rapinoe, who said the incident shows a "deep level of misogyny and sexism in that federation and in that man." Luis Rubiales is set to resign as Spanish football federation (RFEF) president following widespread backlash over his unsolicited kiss of Jenni Hermoso. Oscar J. Barroso / AFP7 via Getty Images Regional leaders of the RFEF held a crisis meeting in Madrid on Thursday to discuss Rubiales' future and options for a potential successor, a source told Reuters. The favourites to succeed Rubiales are Pedro Rocha, head of the Extremadura football federation, and Pablo Lozano, head of the Andalusia federation, the source said. Rubiales, 46, was elected as president in 2018, and his tenure has been fraught with controversy and big decisions. Just months into the job, he sacked Spain coach Julen Lopetegui on the eve of the World Cup after it emerged that he had a pre-agreement to join Real Madrid after the tournament. Rubiales also faced a backlash for his decision to take the Spanish Super Cup to Saudi Arabia in collaboration with Gerard Piqué, who was an active player for Barcelona at the time. Rubiales vehemently denied that any conflict of interest existed in the deal. There have also been complaints, from his uncle and the former director of his cabinet, that he used RFEF money to organise sex parties, and an investigation is ongoing into allegations that he used federation cash to take a woman on a trip to New York. Meanwhile, the Spanish Footballers Association (AFE) called for him to be removed from his position for allegations that he spied on the president, David Aganzo -- accusations Rubiales denies. Last September, the RFEF was at the centre of a crisis when 15 players from the women's national team said that, because of the federation's lack of support and issues relating to the coaching team, they did not feel comfortable playing for Spain. Rubiales' response was to back the coach, Jorge Vilda, with the dispute disrupting Spain's preparation for the World Cup. In the end, three of the 15 returned for the tournament after certain changes were made, seven refused to do so and five were not selected. 3. I’ve gone from totally despising him as a blight on the game to not minding him after reading about him and how he goes for a smoothie after picking up his daughter from ballet class. He’ll be a Dallas post-pro athlete celeb.

I think that I thought that FC Dallas only had 1. Just saw on ESPN a bit ago that someone on Inter Miami has 14 goal contributions (goals + assists) in 31 games this season. Messi is tied with Josef Martinez with 13 goal contributions. Martinez needed 31 games. Messi needed 8 games.

Looks like the US Open Cup will be in Miami.

Yep. 😳 1) He’s not ready for either national team, so he shouldn’t make a move either way. He’s already played for the USA 🇺🇸 (Slovenia Nations Cup), but that doesn’t sound like anything that would tie him to the US. Don’t know. If it doesn’t tie him to the US, he can play for either team and then switch later if he wants. I don’t know if Argentina qualified for the Olympics, but if I were Benjamin, I would try to play in the Olympics next year and maybe get into the U-20 World Cup in 2025 (he’s eligible) and then make my decision. But if Messi tells him that he wants him on the team for WC ‘26 qualifiers, it would be extremely difficult to say “No” to that. Cremaschi has already mentioned in interviews that Messi has talked to him about possibly playing for Argentina. 2) Andres Cantor pronounces “Cremaschi” like an Argentine who knows that it is an Italian last name. The “ch” is a “k”. The “s” is swallowed with only a slight exhale letting you know that it exists, because most of Argentina swallows an “s” that flows into a consonant. España = Ayhh-paña Busco = Boohh-ko Esquina = Ayhh-keena Cremaschi = Kraymahh-kee

Narrator: He only saw one shitty penalty.

    MLS 2023

Miami has now won 5 games and tied 3 games since Messi & friends have arrived. This is fine in knockout tournaments, but that’s not going to cut it when the season starts up again and Messi has two different international windows that he will be out for. Leo’s PK… made it. He’s on a pretty good roll since missing one early in the World Cup.

I expect to see a lot of shitty penalties from both teams. These guys are dead.

Cincinnati gooooooooolllll. 😏 Mathis is totally fixed.

Josef Martinez (Miami) with a nutmeg goal early in overtime (ET) to take the lead 3-2. Miami has made 6 subs (1 extra allowed for ET) and they still look gassed. Cincinnati had made 5 subs, so they still have one to use…. I think, unless they have used their windows.

Nice assist by Messi. EVERYONE is walking around like old men. Apparently it is a bit warm for a soccer match. HEAT INDEX of 90° at the end of the match. What was it at the start of the match?
  13. The only positive criticism that Vlatko got for the entire tournament was for the adjustment that he made to playing a double pivot for the Sweden match. AND HE DIDN’T EVEN MAKE THAT ADJUSTMENT! Also, this explains why the team didn’t direct all of their traffic down the right flank (through Trinity Rodman) against 🇸🇪 Sweden, even though Sweden’s left back was their worst defender according to analytics (as I learned later from The Scuffed Podcast). My guess is it’s because the players didn’t have the analytics from Sweden’s previous matches, because that’s not something that the players usually research themselves. They get that shit from the coaching staff and their support staff. HOLY SHIT! Vlatko sucked even more ass than we thought! 🤯

Correct! If Miami & Houston win, the final is in Miami. If Miami & SLC win, the final is in SLC. Don’t know where the games are if Miami loses. (Max Bretos didn’t mention the locations for these IF/THEN inputs.)
  15. Was Zverev’s tatted up smoke show girlfriend there? I’m not into tattoos, but she looks like a lot of fun. More images here. Hidden to keep from being overboard, but nothing racier than above.

    USMNT 2023

He was signed and inserted immediately, because they had a need and they knew that he knew how to play the Dutch way. Apparently no training necessary. It would be nice to see Pepi & Tillman see the field. LASTLY: Did Dest see time at RB? or LB in his one big season at Ajax?

    USMNT 2023

A good look at Pulisic's involvement in both first half goals as well as nearly setting up another. (Video is relatively short.) I'm not seeing it.
  18. He did clearly state 9-3 during the season and then a bowl win to take them to 10-3. He clearly stated that he would be happy with that improvement. If they go 8-4 (4-4 in the SEC), then he can say that he was only 1 off. Their DL may be in their opponents’ backfields as handoffs are being made against 8 of the teams on their schedule which will mask their issues at LB & DB. They have a history of winning a game or two that it looks like they are going to fuck up. Last year was the first truly joyful year of pure failure in a while and they still beat LSU and almost beat Alabama in Tuscaloosa.
  19. While on the subject of Olga… https://x.com/espnfc/status/1693381131310133641? What a brutal post-game smack in the face!
  20. 1) ☝️ Correct. Japan has the technique & speed to beat Spain. Japan is fucked against large women on set pieces. Japan would have likely beaten Spain again, but a larger team knocked them out along the way. 2) I was wrong about Olga, the goal scorer, being on Barcelona. She was one three starters from Real Madrid. (An adidas team… fascism.)
