    MLS 2023

Totally spaced the messican canales!!! 🤬
  2. Adidas will turn it into a billboard all across Spain with the adidas clearly visible and the message printed below the photo. She is an adidas player (you can tell from her shoes) and they can’t do an ad campaign with her Barcelona kit (NIKE) for winning the Champions League. PS- “Mecha” & “Mechi” are nicknames for “Mercedes” in Argentina, so I am sure that “Merchi” is a nickname for Mercedes in Spain.
  3. This ref is awful. The knee for the yellow card shouldn’t have been a yellow. The injured girl should have left the field. The James girl for England got wiped out right outside the box. (No call) Hermoso got kicked hard on the edge of the English box. (No call) The “professional foul” taking down James in the midfield should have drawn a yellow.
  4. That keeper was in a full dive right before Hermoso even touched the ball. That was awful.
  5. Her English was so much clearer than many of the other refs in this tournament.
  6. That confused me, because their national team kit is adidas as well, no? It seemed like she thought that something would be visible on her shirt, but it wasn’t. Or maybe she had something written on a third shirt underneath. No sé.
  7. That hit that the Spanish girl put on the English girl in the first minute or two would have be a 15-yard personal foul in American football, but the ref didn’t even blow her whistle.
  8. Bitches World Cup is starting in minutes. PREDICTION: England REASON: The American ref will let England beat the shit out of the Spanish squad and will ignore fouls and will not give out yellow cards. The ref did it for England against Australia in the semifinal and I think that that was why she was picked for the final. More money will flow into the women’s game if England wins, so FIFA is doing what the NBA used to do with Dick Bavetta. England will foul the shit out of the Spanish in the first 5 minutes. And the will keep it up. Only the 19 year-old black striker for Spain can physically hold her own in the offensive half.

Was this match moved to College Station? If Diego isn’t the manager in 2010, perhaps that number could have been 5. But Diego left off Zanetti & Cambiaso and Germany in the quarterfinals happened. 🤬 I missed it. Still haven’t bought Apple+ and didn’t go to a friend’s. Perhaps an Apple+ 7-day trial for tonight’s match would have been worth it.

  11. He’s a “Yes sir.” / “Yes ma’am.” kid who was raised right.
  12. She didn’t hit a first serve in getting smoked at love in her only service game and thought… ”Fuck this shit!” Rather than get smoked in under and an hour, she said “I’ll call it a day and pick up my check on the way to New York.” Bouzkova won 2 of 14 points.

I didn’t go traipsing all over Europe to forget it all while in exile on the island of Saint Helena! FULL DISCLOSURE: I had to look that up. But I grew up with a journalist father who would frequently point to various spots on the world map in our breakfast room as he explained various events from WWII, or that were on the CBS News (every hour on the hour on KRLD). I’ve been to over 40 US States, nearly 30 countries, met people from around the world staying in hostels abroad (and in the U.S.) as well as expats & travelers while living abroad for 7 1/2 years, where I gave private tours to people from at least 20 different countries, which was very much like being a History/Civics professor. And I try to imagine what other people see and think who have different life experiences from mine. 🤷‍♂️ (My childhood buddies aren’t interested or impressed either.)
  14. They still aren’t likely to get the Dutch chica (and former UNC player) who is managing England, but they cannot do worse than what they already had. Again, we don’t know whether Vlatko was just the worst coach at the Women’s World Cup or if he was basically brought on board to let the ship continue to steer itself. Did he not dump the old players & not choose tactics that would have focused on younger players even with old players on the field because: [1] The older players had more power than he did? [2] The sponsors wanted their clients to be in the spotlight and everyone thought that winning was a given? [3] US Soccer didn’t want the optics of dumping the faces of “Equal Pay” so soon after they lost their fight with the USWNT players? [4] Vlatko was just such a shitty coach that he couldn’t see what would work better/ he didn’t employ data analysis in his prep/decision making? We really don’t know why the women’s team looked like so much ass, but they did. But… they also faces only TWO shots on goal against some fairly skilled teams (Netherlands, Portugal, Sweden), which is insanely dominant in that regard. Without the three big injuries, Vlatko very well could have been a World Cup winning manager and he looked like he was so far out of his depth that it was comically sad at times.

LEEDS vs BOURNEMOUTH DEMOGRAPHICS: vs BOURNEMOUTH ”Much of the population, 83.8%, describe their ethnicity as 'White British' while other white groups account for a further 8.1%. Asian groups; Indian, Pakistani, Bangladeshi, Chinese and other Asian, make up 3.9%. Black British, Black African, Black Caribbean and other Black groups form 1.0% of the population, Those who are Mixed race make up 2.3% of the population, and 0.9% are from other ethnic groups.[93] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bournemouth So Bournemouth is basically 92% White, 1% Black of various backgrounds, and 2.3% Mixed Race. That’s slightly different than the Tri-State area (where Tyler is from) and Leeds. My guess is that it is more inline with Leipzig, where he played for Red Bull, but with much less of a former Eastern Bloc fascist vibe than Leipzig.

I’m thinking that a coastal town and a depressed mining(?) or manufacturing(?) town are going to be drastically different living experiences. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bournemouth

  18. I kept waiting for Black to fly in and light up the ball carrier. 👀 Never happened. I know think that he was the ball carrier. (Writing “cornerback” usually suggests a defensive player.) I was scouring the responses to see if he was a lunch pail guy. Apparently he’s not, but we already have one in the fold. 😅

  20. Ummmm… Legal booze last week in Canada. Basically in entire world minus the 🇺🇸 they’re both adults. It’s a little freer once you get out of the USA. People were withdrawing left & right today. With the second week of fucked up rain delays and the US Open in 10 days, people have been bailing on Cincy. Pegula won last week and basically was like “Fuck this shit, I’m out.” She didn’t withdraw, but she was bageled by Bouzkova in the 2nd set. Whether it’s Buffalo or Florida, she had “I just want to go home and rest.” written all over her face. The withdrawals may have started on Wednesday, can’t remember, but earlier Thursday I was looking at when people were withdrawing and how frequent it was on Thursday. Not a good look for the tournament or the two tours.
  21. This. Every MLS Academy will soon have a female academy. If it loses money, they can just balance against their profits. They already have the fields, the coaches, and the infrastructure. They can sell it to their business partners, and if the European model really blows up, they can sell their girls to European teams. There is zero reason that the MLS & rope USL & Women’s clubs won’t start producing vastly superior talent to the current pay-for-play. The top paying players will get cherry picked by the players he Academies. It is too easy and obvious not to happen.
