  1. i, for one, am glad that this kid had his illegally obtained assault rifle handy so he could legally shoot some people while engaging in the illegal act of vigilantism. wait, what?
  2. oh goddammit. is nothing sacred anymore?!
  3. not sure why anybody continues to engage with sack. it doesn’t matter what you say, as long as the deaths are not on his team, it is justified.
  4. ours is also on a concrete base here in derkaville
  5. upfront cost of a swg is much more than an auto feed tablet chlorinator. probably ends up being a wash in the long run on actual savings between the two systems. i’d much rather drain/refill my pool every 5 years than replace damaged patio furniture or risk damage to my travertine. it does happen despite whatever tfp says. that said, i use liquid chlorine in mines and have zero issues with the 5 min per day maintenance that requires.
  6. a couple weeks ago, a contractor came by to restain my fence and thought it was a good idea to set his gas powered pressure washer directly on my lawn for a few hours. the end result is a nice big yellow spot. is this too far gone to save?
  7. hang in there, sir. this shit hit 4 of the 6 in casa dirt week before last. all 4 had minimal symptoms thankfully. pfisd started school on a thursday. 10yr old stepdaughter tested positive the following wednesday after showing symptoms the evening before. wife (j&j vax) tested positive that thursday, 5yr old daughter tested positive that saturday. 14yr old stepson (pfizer 1&2) tested positive this past thursday. the two girls didn’t have symptoms beyond 2 days and what they did have were mild fever and scratchy throat. the boy had zero symptoms. my wife also had mild symptoms but also lost her sense of smell/taste, which has yet to return. me and my immunocompromised 14yr old daughter were spared.
  8. wasn’t about to end my 20 yr streak of opening weekend viewing. no fucks given. goddamn they all look old af now. lots of nice little nods to paul walker throughout too. nice touch in between space flights and shit.
  9. at this point i’d kill for 90 degree temps. according to the aqualink app, mines is hitting mid 90s by 3p. also direct sun all day. got one of those pvc fountain things coming today. also changed the pump schedule to run 4 hours overnight and then 5 hours during the day. hoping that circulating the water when it’s “cooler” will help. fuuuuuck.
  10. the man said july. who am i to argue.
  11. that’s what we did. theres nothing but a jandy valve at the equipment side. just stays closed and whomever buys this house whenever i sell it can either install a pump, or not.
  12. i want in too. email sent, sir.
  13. that was a nice touch
  14. mission accomplished.
  15. first i took inventory of all the wires we actually used. the little shitty builder enclosure was stuffed with tons of unterminated coax. i did decide to keep them accessible just in case, but i coiled them thru the extra punch downs on the top right. i picked the keystone panel, 1/2 shelves and power supply based on the brand enclosure i went with (legrand/on-q) since i knew they would fit right. i’m sure there’s cheaper ways though. then i used excel (fuck off) to map everything out so i knew what size enclosure i needed. bought a cheap punch down tool, watched a 2 min youtube video on terminating cat 5e and off i went.
  16. do they bring the bees to the yard? i’m already planning out some trellis building over the weekend. just maybe not this one haha.
  17. what this is? vine? i need names! ⬇️ i have the active 30 and it’s legit. we run her once per week, she keeps our floors sparkling. got her from marina. shipping was fast af and price was right. https://marinapoolspaandpatio.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/Robotic-Cleaner-Comparisons-2021.pdf
  18. it’s a jandy actuator, but looks pretty similar internally. i tried switching it with the return side and nothing. the toggle not working either. seems like it’s not getting power at all, yet it does turn over to the spa mode. it’s baffling. our build was completed in november so surely it’ll be covered under warranty, if i can get my builder to reply haha.
  19. new issue, not sure how it could be weather related. my return side actuator is only going in to spa mode in the aqua link app. when i switch to pool mode, only the suction side actuates. i have to loosen the lever and manually turn it back to pool mode. not sure why it’ll turn one direction but not the other. question now is do i bother trying to fix, or do i just get a new actuator before they’re sold out everywhere?
  20. never owned a pair boots in my life. after trudging through snow for a week, i’ve realized i need some damn waterproof/resistant work boots. don’t know shit about boots, so give me all your recommendations...go!
  21. we’re very lucky. a lot of our hood is without. water on the other hand lost all pressure last night. it’s trickling out now but i might be resorting to pool water to flush toilets soon haha.
  22. dirt falls still hanging in there in derkaville. i ended up breaking the ice buildup off the cascades along with whatever was on the pipes. here’s how we look this morning
  23. i’ve tried orbi ac, orbi ax, nighthawk, google and google nest with varying success. orbi ax was the fastest for me, but wasn’t as stable as i needed. if it went offline, i had a hell of a time getting all my iot devices (light switches and shit) back online. sometimes would take days and a couple factory resets to get it all back. after about 6 months of this shit, i finally had enough and returned the orbi ax to costco. i ended up with a unifi dream machine, poe switch and a wifi 6 long range access point. it’s only been 3 weeks but so far it’s been the fastest and the most stable of everything i’ve tried. i had planned on another access point, but so far, i don’t have the need since everything seems strong to quite strong inside and out. as a bonus, it prompted me to rip out the bullshit “structured wiring box” the builder put in and install a better one. i wired everything up to a keystone panel and made it all look respectable to this novice’s eyes. the only issue so far is a double nat causing connectivity to the playstation network. instead of trying to fix it, i just dropped a line direct to my stepsons ps4. problem solved, and gta5 online has been running infinitely better for him.
  24. ended up going with at&t tv with the contract. the 2nd year contract price puts me in line with what we had with uverse tv. when i called to cancel, they asked why so i told them we signed up for at&t tv in my wife’s name. the rep made sure to schedule my cancel date/time to coincide with the new installation of fiber to avoid downtime. she also gave us $10/mo discount for as long as we keep the acct. we paid $80/mo for internet under our uverse package, now we’re at $60/mo. they come to install tmrw, so i’m hoping we get set up with their new equipment.
