  1. Cross posting from the Daily Texan thread
  2. Apparently the DFW lawyer who advised immigrants of their rights and was then harassed by law enforcement has been fired
  3. Not really out of character for Joel to stand down to protect Dina. We saw him do the same thing in S1 when they first got surrounded by the Jackson Hole crew on horseback and they brought out the dog. He even broke down telling Tommy he was paralyzed with fear and losing his edge. Once he realized they were from Salt Lake, he knew he couldn't talk his way out of it without revealing the Firefly plan and putting Ellie at risk. At least that's my read.
  4. News coming out this morning that maybe the SEVIS terminations are getting rolled back.
  5. House Democrats are asking for answers from law firms who made deals with Trump and raising questions about whether they've violated bribery and racketeering laws. https://min.house.gov/sites/evo-subsites/min.house.gov/files/evo-media-document/04.24.25-letters-to-law-firms-on-trump-administration-agreements-all.pdf
  6. There are over 100 men who were sent to CECOT outside the AEA authority. They were sent there, according to DHS, under typical INA processes but there is no clear legal basis for holding them in El Salvador. https://talkingpointsmemo.com/news/inside-the-fight-to-return-the-other-men-trump-sent-to-cecot From the article, here's one guy who agreed to go back to Venezuela and withdrew his asylum claim, but not he's sitting in a prison camp.
  7. A second judge has ordered the Trump administration to return a second man from El Salvador who was blocked from deportation for different reasons (it violated a prior court settlement).
  8. And in other news, maybe they're getting close to an agreement regarding Abrego Garcia? Maybe not? Who knows.
  9. Wow, this is almost hard to believe but nothing should surprise me anymore. If I'm understanding this correctly, AFTER a restraining order was issued to ICE not to deport 3 individuals, ICE handed them over to DOD who then deported them. ICE just submitted in court tonight that DOD isn't a defendant so they didn't violate the TRO.
  10. The lie from DHS here is especially shocking. "Yeah, we arrested this American citizen and locked him up for 10 days, but it's his fault because he told us he's from Mexico and wanted to turn himself in." Seriously, what in the ever loving fuck is that.
  11. Also in that Colorado ruling, the judge is saying Alien Enemies Act likely doesn't apply.
