  1. I'm not a "coach" or nearly as wise as many on Surly, but I am of the belief that you need a good OL for the good old ground and pound.
  2. I agree that it really should be on your body. I ride with a small camelback. I keep it in there or in a jacket. One of my spills, long ago, and end over my bike was a good 50 yards down the road. If I'd had a neck or back injury, I was never making it. It was definitely the turkey! Tryptophan makes folks sleepy and speed hungry. Science!!!
  3. Well, since gear and wrecks came up I thought I would throw in a piece that's always with me. I ride off road and on, not infrequently alone, and frequently in very remote locations. Whether you fall into this group or not, I recommend a locator beacon. You might not have faculty to use it if your in too bad a way, but it's great to have if you are injured and in a remote location. I use the one in the link below. It's a simpler beacon and the cost reflects the one way, no frills aspect. It is however, small enough to keep in a riding jacket or somewhere on your bike if needed. https://www.rei.com/product/156622/acr-electronics-rescueme-plb1-personal-locator-beacon
  4. Not being judgemental but I'll never, ever understand someone shooting hand loads they didn't load themselves.
  5. I'm still pissed about Bleacher Gate. I should be well over it by now, but I'm not.
  6. Yeah, that's a terrible choice. Saw OP or otherwise fixed it in title.
  7. Pointy knees and I don't find racist women who wear blackface attractive at all.
  8. Use the handle button to unlock it. I can't otherwise help you with turning it on. I'm not familiar with your model.
  9. I think perhaps they could, but a good AD would/should look at the current landscape and it's clear the haves are just getting more, the have not are only getting less. NDSU is a winner and I'm guessing gets good crowd attendance. Moving up to become a perennial last place team could greatly reduce that brand. Financially, I'm not sure it makes sense.
  10. I agree with imma, and would add Georgia to his list, based purely on historical, subjective, poor data set evidence of my own. I reflect on decades of travel and having lived in 3 states. I have seen Michigan, Texas, USC, ND and USC gear all around the country, consistently in up and down years for those programs. There is a big ND USC, and Ohio State presence in Nashville, Austin, Chicago and elsewhere. I don't really see Bama or Georgia stickers much outside the southeast, and sure as hell didn't when they were shitty. Sure, here and there you see those schools, but growing up, never. Most people from CA that I know who don't have an actual team in the fight default to USC. In the Midwest and Northeast it seems most people pick between Michigan, OSU and ND for alumni or regional/personal reasons. None of those 3 seem to be limited to that region, particularly ND. I'm curious and need to do/have a surly member research data regarding apparel/brand sales over the decades as I'm guessing that's a better measure of long term team allegiance and interest.
  11. I still say it that way in my mind everything I read or think about it. Always will.
  12. I actually thought this was Cougar High aka UH upon first view. I don't have a dog in the fight and don't really care, but that's my first impression. Agree with others that the Broncos throwbacks are great.
  13. Sure, Flint Michigan, Elko and Winnemucca Nevada, Terhan, and Baghdad to name a few.
  14. The dirt and rake, on the concrete... is... amazing
  15. I took a short dive down the Mary Dupuis rabbit hole and I'm stressed out just reading second hand about her. Wow, she truly needs mental health assistance in a very bad way and it's clear from what I saw she is, as other deduce, pretty clearly being used as a pawn.
  16. There is a lot of randy mechanisms in this here thread. I feel an obligation to... contribute.
  17. Check out the newish Alpinestar off road helmets. They are INSANELY light weight. I'll post a Pic once I get home. I know a full off road helmet isn't "cool" and not super functional for street but if your son is going to be offloading get him that lid. https://www.alpinestars.com/collections/mx-helmets
  18. Well, not if they want to actually attend any of the games.
  19. @midtown If you really want to expand your riding ability there are a few classes I've taken over the years. I should clarify that I got an exemption in Texas with a motorcycle permit at 15 and own a CRF250L, Ninja 1000 that I've ridden from Austin to Sturgis, Yellowstone, Glacier National Park, and on to Seattle before having it shipped back to Austin as well as a YZ250. One thing that will up your riding game is learning off road basics. They teach this class at a location outside Atlanta. I'm sure there are other locations too. The one outside Atlanta has off-road bikes you can use for the class. (Or it used to) https://msf-usa.org/start-your-ride/dirtbike-school/ There are also follow up courses available. I've taken one for off road but not the others. However, I'm confident it will greatly enhance your capabilities, and I suggest taking all of them that you can and confirming if they provide a motorcycle if yours isn't suited. https://msf-usa.org/advance-your-ride/ Finally, if you've taken all those and want to move your skill WAY, WAY higher California Super Bike has a 2 day class where they provide a BMW S1000 and 2 days of track school. You'll learn more in those 2 days than you will in several years of riding. Things like, entry point, apex, exit point, trail breaking, entry speeds, just so, so much. It is NOT cheap, but you'll be a very different rider on the other side. https://superbikeschool.com/ If you have questions on gear, I own more than I care to admit. Happy to provide feedback in as much or as little detail as you like. On insurance, Progressive is one of the better motorcycle insurance companies, but I suggest shopping every couple of years. Edit - Because pics or it didn't happen
  20. You do know that the only people who benefit from salary caps are the owners right? Not sure exactly why you're endorsing making college even more like the NFL particularly when it actually removes an advantage for Texas.
  21. I'm guessing they were being shipped on a Sunday because all the weather in the area Saturday. Probably headed to Nashville and it's clear through. Plastic wrap is expensive bro.
  22. And they were moving at freeway speeds with driver assist and zero issue.
  23. Here is a really good group I found out about today while listening to a podcast regarding bottled water issues with PFAS. https://www.ewg.org/ Side note, the podcast was Stuff You Should Know which has been around 14 years. It a great podcast and tries it's best not to go full CR. They do some but... https://stuffyoushouldknow.com/ You can search for podcasts on that page. If you search for Bottled Water that show will come up.
