  1. Holy crap the line judge marked it short of the first down by 2 feet but waved chains for a first down.
  2. This has nothing to do with analytics. It's pure logic. I have used zero numbers in a very straightforward argument. You're the one who's contending that analytics would support you (conversion rate increase). Except you just pull that out of your butt with no evidence and then claim you're anti-analytics. It's just a buzzword bogeyman for troglodytes at this point.
  3. I mean I know Oklahoma State fans are used to this with Gundy (normally well coached teams with just total random shit shows) but this has to be one of the worst. The justifiable high from last week and then this. This may be the worst Gundy that Gundy has ever Gundied.
  4. Ball was on the 1. That wouldn't be a touchback in the NFL either, but definitely not in college. Only matters where the ball is, in college that's even true when downing punts.
  5. What a great job by that OL even being down there. Never stopped hustling. Ha now a safety.
  6. DO NOT DROP THE FUCKING BALL HAND IT TO THE FUCKING REF I could not be a coach. But great job by the refs.
  7. Holy shit. Revenge for Utah after they did this against Oregon at home a long time ago.
  8. Huh? No it hasn't. They consistently have decent seasons and then bend over for the Sooners.
  9. Well at this point I don't think either set of fans should be confident of no egg-laying through the end. But yes if we both win out I think that's still the result.
  10. Actually, the way the tiebreaker is written Okie State doesn't win on head to head because Oklahoma doesn't play KSU. I know, big shock that the Big 12 still can't write a decent tiebreaker.
  11. Yep, they didn't make it even a possibility to fall for Colorado letting them score. Very well coached endgame.
  12. It's pretty obvious. It's not a known one possession game. It is either a one or two possession game depending on the result of the two point conversion attempt. This is a complete lack of situational awareness about the game. Penn State was going to attempt an onside kick either way. If Michigan got the ball back they were running three times to get first downs. Everyone understands this in that game situation. The only difference is that if Penn State goes for 2 after the first touchdown they now know if the onside kick is successful if they need to score once or twice. This is the critical piece of information. As opposed to losing inspiration when they fail to convert the 2 point conversion with 3 seconds left and have lost the game? If a coach has done his job and explained things to his players this isn't an issue either way. They're prepared to react to the result of the conversion. Either way this entire argument is so absurd. Oh no they'll be sad with two minutes left instead of being sad with no time left. Either way they've lost, who gives a shit? I found out I lost later in the game! Woohoo, that's gotta be worth something in the standings!
  13. Because it's not a one possession game if you miss the 2 point conversion at the end of the game. It's a 2 possession game you just don't know it yet and then you don't have enough time to even try to do anything about it. ClubWhatever's sarcastic response shows the logical failure of his preferred strategy. He assumes you are right that it's a one possession game when it's an 8 point margin and scoffs at the fact you don't know how many possessions you need until you attempt the 2 point conversion. As most of the people who are wrong about this do, you are comparing missing the 2 point conversion after the first TD with making it after the second. Obviously it's better to successfully convert it. Now compare being successful after the first TD with missing it after the second.
  14. No, the goal is to win. You are correct that the mentality you cite is why people don't go for it there. Lots of people would prefer to find out they are going to lose with no time left for some reason. They lose either way. By trying it after the first TD you find out whether it's successful. That is the key piece of information needed to determine your clock strategy for the end of the game.
  15. You need a 2 point conversion. Trying it first lets you know if you need 2 or 3 more possessions.
  16. Nah they're about even but to your point the other one is "a top ten matchup."
  17. Going for 2 there was correct. The play was terrible.
  18. Man these teams (with all the QBs out) and these refs and these coaching decisions. This is a very, very bad football game.
  19. Obvious illegal formation not called by terrible Big 12 refs on second down.
  20. Yeah, those playcalls on goal to go were something.
  21. They're whipping PSU's line straight up right now but pretty damn interesting that Michigan's defense isn't adjusting to Penn State's offensive calls from the sidelines. Almost like they're not as good at that anymore for some reason. Well they were when I first posted that on the wrong thread.
