  1. I don't know about solid. Competent perhaps. They're playing about the 100th best defense in the nation. Stanford is awful on both sides of the ball this season. That's not to say their offense isn't light years better than last season.
  2. No, he stated that USC and UCLA were no longer along the member institutions represented on the board. He didn't say they relinquished their positions. There is a direct quote in the story you were responding to and everything.
  3. I have insurance and always have. There was some standard insurance fuckery, but in this case I actually understood BCBS's position that the rate was too far above reasonable market cost or whatever. So they went after me. They were just as successful as they were getting BCBS to pay any more than they did.
  4. The first sentence is key. And the last sentence is unfortunately the last resort for many people, but for me a few times I've simply never paid. I have always and always will pay debts that I agreed to. But if you think I'm paying you $1700 for one minute of attention without telling me how much it would be you can fuck right off. You will never see that money. Same with an ambulance bill once. The EMTs administered smelling salts and drove my daughter 4 miles. $2500. Haha fuck you. Nope. On that one I researched rates for the same service in the area and got two numbers at $1500 and $1600. Absurd in their own right but I called and said I'd pay $1600 to settle. They said they don't negotiate. I said cool, you'll get nothing. I realize there are reasons not everyone can do that. But a lot more people can than realize it. Too many people consider themselves prisoner to whatever number the provider pulls out of the air.
  5. The story absolutely matters, the very existence of atrocity propaganda proves that. It's not about how the babies died, it's about the humanity of the killers. As stated above, bombing a building that babies happened to be in is a world apart from beheading them. Convincing the public that the killers were evil monsters rather than just callous or thoughtless assholes greatly changes public support for war and your level of retaliation. None of the above has anything to do with whether or not this story is true. Just that it's wrong to say it doesn't matter. Dammit, called into a meeting before I finished and posted. This has obviously been covered.
  6. Based on his Maldonado valuation the best job he could take for the Astros is Yankees GM.
  7. 15 wins? Why the fuck didn't we trade him for Ohtani?
  8. Yep, the first three for the Braves were straight to the LCS after the season. Which is obviously impressive on its own to win your division.
  9. Back in the Astro League Championship Series.
  10. "I'm cheering whichever 9" Lineup announced, immediately bitches about 1 of the 9
  11. Three-year-olds are monsters.
  12. Is your kid not three yet? Terrible twos is a joke.
  13. It sounds close if you completely misinterpret it I suppose. The point is that the argument goes both/all ways. The average Gaza resident isn't murdering Israelis either. And yet none of them have power or water right now. Both groups are led by power hungry zealots and suffer the consequences.
  14. You go too far with this line of thinking. In wartime I question the objectivity of any media outlet reporting on their home nation. That's not bigoted, it's logical. It's not anti-Christian to question an American reporter reporting on America in war and it's not anti-Semitic to question an Israeli reporter reporting on Israel.
  15. Yes, that's the part where I'd prefer that the children not be killed. I simply won't judge an oppressed (enslaved in this example) person for exacting their vengeance against the oppressors' family. Certainly that usually serves to extend the horrific cycle but I consider myself a pretty rational person and if my family were slaves and I had a chance to eliminate our captors I can't say for sure I'd stop with the men. Given the absurdly lucky circumstances I was born into I can't begin to put myself in their shoes, so I won't judge them.
  16. I'll blow right through that stop sign. Just as the death of a civilian human shield is on the combatant who used them as a shield, the deaths of the enslavers' children are on the enslavers. I'd prefer if they didn't, but I don't find it morally wrong in any way that they did. Hell, an objective analysis would find that those children would have been almost certain to use the legal system at the time to subjugate the slaves' children so even with the benefit of a cool head it's hard to say it's wrong.
  17. Right, that's the reference. It's pretty sick in my opinion to hate the members of that rebellion. They and their families were enslaved (obviously excepting the freedmen who participated), they were well within their moral rights to kill entire families of their oppressors.
  18. And what if they had? Did you hate Django once he killed a woman? I personally would have no issue with the story of a slave uprising that slaughtered the entire family of their captors. I find it unconscionable that anyone would have a problem with that.
  19. The "YOU GOT HOUSTON!" chants in the way out and outside the park after Game 6 last year were pretty damn fun.
  20. Oops I messed it up. Just looked and the second season we played them twice was 1903, not 1902.
  21. We have played Oklahoma multiple times in three seasons. 1901, 1902, and 2018. We went 2-0 in 1901, 1-0-1 in 1902, and 1-1 in 2018.
  22. Hmm, I think it ties in with other A&M bullshit like so: A&M didn't lose, they just ran out of halftime
  23. It's very kind of the Dallas center to let the opponent know exactly when the ball is going to be snapped every play.
