  1. Arky to the south, WVU north.
  2. Jack Trice seems like one of those perpetually underrated stadiums (atmosphere, not the building itself). Hope I can get to a game there someday.
  3. Yep, you can get almost all of the eastern US birds in the eastern half of the state and many of the western birds out in BBNP/GMNP area, plus occasional Mexican species. Easily 500+ of the 800ish regular continental US species are seen in TX each year. Ya, Big Bend has more bird species than any other national park, including one that lives nowhere else in the world (Colima warbler).
  4. Haven't been there, but as an aside Texas is literally as good as it gets for birding in the US. Many different habitat types and also positioned just so on the continent such that many bird migrations funnel through the state.
  5. I gotta say, seeing wolves or grizzlies is always amazing, but I consistently have the most fun photographing coyotes. They express a lot of personality, especially playfulness and intelligence. They're wicked smart little tricksters, and sometimes seem to purposefully **** with me (they'll walk out in the open, looking my way every few seconds if they know I'm tracking them; then as soon as I look away for a moment to fiddle with the camera, they'll crouch in the sagebrush, slip away in a completely different direction, and then I'll see them moments later as they give me one last glance while they trot out of sight, ****-eating grin on their face).
  6. I like it as is. Wouldn't mind BYU (football only) + Cincinnati. Dream scenario would be to get Arkansas IMO, but 99.99% won't happen.
  7. The G5 is guaranteed 1 of 12. They wouldn't be 8 of 16.
  8. 7 conference games is stupid. 8 is fine.
  9. You're equating thing that you know aren't equal then throwing a long-ass garble of nonsense as defense. Conference games are worth more on media contracts. Why this fact twists your panties so much, I don't know.
  10. This is pretend land. Guaranteed Big XII conference matchups are more valuable when negotiating media deals for years down the road.
  11. The Big XII DOES have to play a full round robin if they want enough Big XII conference game inventory to get a fat check from our media partners. Guaranteed conference games are worth more in media contracts than OOC games that may be 1) shit teams or 2) on another team's home field.
  12. Do you? The AAC is already positioned to get that 6th auto the majority of the time. Does Boise add enough to the financial pie for everyone to come out ahead? Because BYU is almost assuredly not joining, even if Boise did, because they've got a massive inferiority complex about being in a conference as financially lucrative and prestigious as Utah (and they well may be making more right now than they would in the AAC). Anyways, there were articles circulating just a couple days ago that the AAC's pursuit of Boise ended.
  13. That's one thing that stuck out to me. ND NEVER gets a bye? I'm not complaining, but I'm surprised they're not complaining more.
  14. That's fair - if indeed some rounds are held on campus, then playing for the right to host is something. My initial comment was directed at the fact that undoubtedly a field of 8 with 6 autos makes conference championship games much more consequential, nonetheless, as they would usually be "win or you're out" games.
  15. I disagree somewhat. An 8 team playoff with autobids for the P5 champs strengthens the regular season because 1) it places much more emphasis on the conference title games again, bringing that regionality back to the sport, and 2) it incentivizes better OOC scheduling because good OOC matchups make shitloads of money, don't hurt your odds of getting the champ autobid, AND can greatly help your argument for an at large spot if you don't end up winning your conference.
  16. I don't like 16. Conference title games are meaningless with 16. And I can't think of a time a team lower than around #8 or so had any legitimate argument. 8 is perfect, but I also perfectly understand why the powers that be won't go for it.
