  1. If a quarterback goes out and throws 26 incomplete pasess on 26 attempts, his passer rating is 40.0.
  2. If you count Brady's sacks as rushing yards, New England rushed for -2 yards...and won. Had to put a Texas game in here. Charles breaks loose for 218 yards...in the 4th quarter. Navy doesn't attempt a forward pass...and blows out SMU. Fresno State scores 21 points in 19 seconds, and 49 points in less than 6 and a half minutes (record still stands I believe).
  3. Got the 5/19/74 vinyl. It's a winner and was only around $120-125.00 at my local indie record store (You can order it from Target for $102.49 though). For new vinyls, I'm going to start selling out here pretty soon. Walmart, Barnes and Noble, and Target are so cheap compared to the local places and shipping is free once you hit $50 at Walmart and $25 at Barnes and Noble.
  4. Unless I'm missing somethin here, this this the best deal I've ever seen on Reverb. A 2018 Supro 1650RT (RT = tube reverb and trem), that just needs a new handle for $749.00 + $59.00 Shipping. This amp is $1499.00 new and the other used models on Reverb start at $1,099.00. https://reverb.com/item/15823195-2018-supro-royal-reverb-1650rt-35-60-watt-2x10-all-tube-combo-tone-monster 2018 Supro Royal Reverb Model 1650RT 2x10 All Tube Combo Amp. 35- and 60-watt modes Made in the US Type: Tube Number of Channels: 1 Total Power: 60W (35W setting) Speaker Size: 2 x 10" Preamp Tubes: 4 x 12AX7, 1 x 12AT7 Power Tubes: 2 x 5881/6L6 Reverb: Yes Effects: Yes EQ: 2-band
  5. "Waiting 'Round to Die" was the first one I thought of. It is utterly bleak on the level of Cormac McCarthy's "The Road." In an interview Townes was asked why his songs were all so sad. He responded, in part, "I don't think they're all that sad. I have a few that aren't sad, they're like... hopeless. Totally hopeless situation and the rest aren't sad they're just the way it goes." This song rips your heart out but I love it so, so much. Lennon sings about his mother who turned over custody of John to his aunt and was killed in a car crash and his father who abandoned the family when John was 5. The primal scream outro always gives me chills. The live performance is worth watching also.
  6. I think you're talking about the non-reverse. Those mushy-looking angles on the non-reverse were probably an extra precaution Gibson took so as not to get hauled into court by Fender. It looks like a Jazzmaster with an extra chromosome.
  7. Wiki basically has the whole scoop: The Gibson Guitar Corporation released several new styles during the 1950s to compete with Fender's solid-body instruments, such as the Telecasterand Stratocaster. After success with the Les Paul in the 1950s, Gibson's popularity began to wane in the 1960s... The president of Gibson, Ted McCarty, hired car designer Ray Dietrich to design a guitar that would have popular appeal. Under Dietrich, the Firebird took on the lines of mid-50s car tailfins. Dietrich took the Explorer design and rounded the edges. The most unusual aspect is that the guitar is "backward" in that the right-hand (treble) horn of the body is longer than the other. Thus, the original Firebirds were unofficially referred to as "reverse". The Firebird looks like an Explorer with softer "points," or maybe a reverse Fender Jaguar or Jazzmaster. Explorer and Firebird side by side: The Firebird line went on sale in mid-1963 with four models distinguished by pickup and tailpiece configurations (see below). Unlike the Les Paul and SG line, which used the terms "Junior", "Special", "Standard" and "Custom", the Firebird used the Roman numerals "I", "III", "V" and "VII".... From 1965 to 1969, Gibson introduced "non-reverse" models after failing to achieve marketing success with the unusual reverse-body design. Gibson had also received complaints from Fender that the Firebird headstock mirrored the Stratocaster and that the body violated Fender's design patents, with Fender threatening a lawsuit. The "non-reverse" body is a more standard double-cutaway design, with the bass horn being longer than the treble horn and the headstock having the tuners mounted on the bass side.... After a few years of disappointing sales, the "non-reverse" line was dropped. "Reverse" body Firebirds were first reissued in 1972, with a commemorative "Bicentennial" model released in 1976 which was made available in a variety of finishes including black, vintage white, natural, and the traditional sunburst. The bicentennial model was also distinguished by gold hardware and a red-white-blue logo on the white pickguard. 1965 Gibson Firebird I Non-Reverse:
  8. Ok, which is which? That Fano model is called the PX6 or something, basically a reimagining of the Gibson Firebird. Is that a "reverse" or "non-reverse" style? The original Firebird looks upside down - with the bottom jutting out and fucking up playability high up the neck - and the strap buttons' placement would seem to make the guitar's balance/center of gravity all weird. Eventually Gibson made models the other way round. Are those the "reverse" because it's the reverse of the original? Or did the original style become known as the "reverse" because it looks upside down and the flipped over, new version looked more natural/normal? Or am I wrong and the one pictured above come out after the flipped version?
  9. Oh SNAP. I have the original Canyon that I use mostly for reverb, tap tempo dotted eigths for Floyd and U2, Memory Man style modulated delay, and reverse delay. It is so damn tweakable and does so much, I kept the manual on my amp with a pdf of it saved on my computer desktop for a couple weeks after buying the thing. And now, because EHX always has to make at least 2-3 different levels (mini, basic, and bananas) of every successful pedal they make, they made the Canyon crazier. And it's the same faceless dude who kicks nearly every demo off with a Floyd song.

    Vinyl

I picked up a copy of the 2016 reissue, remastered, 180g Floyd's Meddle recently and...damn. I never thought it possible to improve the sound of that album. I need to get Animals now immediately. And I've always loved the inner gatefold or whatever you call it. These dudes are tripping balls and stoned AF.
  11. No one can sell an effect pedal better than Andy, but this dude who does some of the EHX demos makes me want every single one. Also, all of these start off with amazing Gilmour shit.
  12. Some beautiful/interesting boutique builder designs and finishes: Tom Anderson Dan Grosh (Never seen transparent seafoam green) ) Fano Collings Knaggs (these guys are nuts)
  13. Saw him at auditorium shores in 2000 or so. Best blues show I've ever seen. He was spry and just slaying. And usually I detest medleys, but he did one that was at least 10 minutes and it was the absolute shit.
  14. "Electric Guitar in American Culture" Conference Comes to Lubbock, Texas, Next Week. https://reverb.com/news/electric-guitar-in-american-culture-conference-comes-to-lubbock-texas-next-week Schedule: https://sites.google.com/view/electricguitaramericanculture/schedule Ought to be some sexy ass pron at this thing. It will also answer the question, "Is it possible to make electric guitars boring?" “The Electric Guitar in American Culture” will combine an academic conference (where scholars present research papers on subjects related to the electric guitar) with concerts, demonstrations, panel discussions, and an exhibit hall where companies, products, and organizations will be represented.
  15. The comedy albums-only list.
  16. Ok, I did a complete inventory of my collection. I do not have "well over 500" cds, but 351. However, I did not include box sets individually. E.g., the Grateful Dead set I have is 10-albums, Velvet Undeground is 4 albums and bonus disc, etc. Going to see if this works. Obviously, you have to click to zoom. Click it and it will show up in a black window on surly, then click again and it takes you to the image hosting site I use and you can zoom to read.
  17. First thing I thought of when I read "take the loss, pussy."
  18. Most stressful sports day ever. 11am-6pm of Horns playing #1 rival and Astros in playoffs.
  19. Love these "galaxy" and "nebula" finishes. It's like a space guitar.
  20. Wow. I did not expect a Waza Metal Zone. And now they've put out a Waza pedal that is based on a pedal discontinued years ago. Do not understand what this does. Boss needs to bring back the Fender '63 reverb pedal. Those fuckers are going for $160 to over $200 on Reverb. The thing sounds fucking awesome. I would not be able to tell the difference between this and a genuine spring reverb tank.
  21. Ben Harper at the Spaghetti Warehouse in Austin (2003). He came to town not planning on playing a show but decided to put one on. Spaghetti Warehouse was like the only place downtown that didn't have bands playing. People were sitting crosslegged on the floor and the atmosphere was like a house concert. It was free but had limited space so you had either be quick as fuck to get in line or "know someone."
  22. Made an offer for $145, he countered with $165, it sold today for $185. Facepalm.
