There were songs about Satan, witches, wizards, the black arts, etc. And the picture of the witch/spirit on the cover of Black Sabbath’s first album. She looked like she was probably carrying a disease, but she looked so good that you wouldn’t mind getting it.
I have a vivid recall of the first time I heard Black Sabbath. It was the fall of 1970 and my buddies and I were camping on a Friday night. One of them had an a track tape of Black Sabbath’s first album and he cranked it up and played the whole thing. We weren’t sure exactly what we were listening to, but we knew we liked it. RIP Ozzy.
As Russian refugees who’ve lived here for 34 years, their hope is that would be enough to spare them. However, there is concern on their part. How could there not be?
This is Lev and Valentina. My wife and I met them in Tallinn, Estonia on a recent Baltic cruise. They’re both Russian refugees who fled St. Petersburg for the United States in 1991 with two young sons. They left because their quality of life was abysmal and they didn’t want to raise their children in a country that offered no hope. When my wife and I were planning this cruise four years ago, the crown jewel in the itinerary was St. Petersburg. I asked Valentina if she thought we (as American tourists) would be able to safely visit Russia at some point in the future. Her answer was, “Not in my lifetime”. They live in the southern part of our country and are grateful to be here. No more harsh Russian winters for them.
I was in high school listening to the UCLA game on the radio in 1970 and, like the rest of the free world, was blown away at UCLA’s ability to slow down the wishbone. Eddie Phillips hit Cotton Speyrer on a 45 yd pass with 12 seconds left in the game (this was a Hail Mary before that term made its way into the lexicon) pulling out a 20-17 win. People remember the late game TD pass, but Happy Feller made 48yd and 55yd field goals without which we were screwed. The pass play begins at 2:29.

Energy Fuels has commenced producing heavy rare earth element oxides at its White Mesa Mill at pilot scale, and could be in a position to produce separated heavy rare earth oxides on a commercial scale as early as Q4 2026 from existing feed sources and, if a production decision is made in 2025, from its permitted Donald Project by the end of 2027, thereby providing much-needed U.S.-produced heavy rare earth oxides.

🚨ARREST REPORT: Texas A&M football player Le'Veon Moss was arrested around 1 a.m. at Northgate by College Station Police and charged with Disorderly Conduct. The police report KBTX obtained says Moss was observed by an officer making multiple threats to a bystander.
Police said they, along with Moss's friends, attempted to stop Moss from making more threats to harm the stranger and de-escalate the situation, but he continued to do so and was eventually arrested.
The report did not say what may have provoked Moss to threaten the unidentified man, but it did say Moss was seen "speaking aggressively" with other people in the area who were attempting to talk to a female who was with him.
Another person with Moss was also arrested for attempting to interfere with officers as they were taking him into custody. Ledarius Jones was arrested and charged with Interference with Public Duties.
Rare-earth miner MP Materials (MP) soared during stock market trade on Thursday after announcing a multibillion dollar public-private partnership with the U.S. Department of Defense to "dramatically accelerate the build-out of an end-to-end U.S. rare earth magnet supply chain and reduce foreign dependency."
This is why UUUU could be up.
