  1. They don't give a shit about the Palestinians. The endgame for the sub-human jihadis that did the actual butchering is a short remaining lifespan convinced they will shortly get all their virgins or whatever fairy tale they believe. The end game for those that actually financed this and set it in motion is, at a minimum, ensuring Israel stops normalizing relations with any other middle eastern countries. They knew exactly what would happen when you set a bunch of barbarians loose and what Israels natural response would be. Whether a potential larger conflict that could benefit other Western hating nations (i.e., russia) was a stated goal or just an ancillary benefit isn't clear. But this had nothing to do whatsoever with furthering the Palestinian cause. So can't really fathom why any Palestinian in Gaza or elsewhere is celebrating this.
  2. Any minority differing viewpoints aside, Hamas just destroyed any hope at anything resembling a peaceful resolution for at least a generation. Which of course was the goal.
  3. You think after this weekend there are still dozens of differing viewpoints within Israeli society regarding Palestine? Pretty sure Hamas decapitating babies and Palestine celebrating in the streets homogenized those viewpoints.
  4. Every. Single. Time.
  5. Badass. Have never seen such a streaky ass team. Let's keep it going!!!
  6. There is a private Stars season ticket holder event at Six Flags tonight (just decided against attending with kids, partly to watch this game). So not sure if that lot is going to be open as an option to anyone without those tickets.
  7. And it will still be my favorite day of the year.

Right. OU certainly shouldn't count on winning the turnover battle 3-0 in a rematch. Just like Texas can't count on 7 points off a blocked punt in a rematch. I absolutely do think Texas is a better team top to bottom this year so hoping we get another shot in a rematch but it certainly isn't black and white.

So every good Texas play was because Texas made a played to its ability (and not an OU fuckup). Every Texas bad play was a Texas fuckup and not a play made by OU. Every OU good play was a Texas fuckup. And every OU bad play was Texas playing to its ability. Got it. Go back and watch those 4 straight scoreless OU possessions and tell me that was ALL the Texas defense and not partially shit OU execution. My only point is, the narrative that we played our C game and OU played an A+ game is just wrong and reeks of only viewing this with burnt orange glasses. I think we are a better team. I think Vegas would favor us in a rematch. But that line would be less than 7. Probably something like 2.5-4.5. Not 10+ like people are making it out to be.
  10. I think we're absolutely dealing with a strategy as far as Iran is concerned. They just knew damn well what happens when you let these subhuman pieces of shit loose on Israelis with weapons you provided. I just don't buy this is some massive Russian/China/Iran alliance (although acknowledging Russia, China and any other anti-western country indirectly benefits). Read the WAPO and WSJ articles. This has been in planning stages for over a year.
  11. All depends on perspective. Russia's motivation is clearly Russia's motivation although unclear what, if any, role they actually played. But sure they are no doubt pleased that it occurred. But Iran appears to be the main player. And keeping Russia happy is a secondary motivation for them. Iran had plenty of direct motivation. In other words, putting the Russia/Ukraine conflict completely aside, it's pretty easy to see direct benefits to Iran. If anything, having the Western intelligence community focused on Russia made this easier to pull off.
  12. Far from an expert but to me the other logical motivation behind the attack is they know it (particularly the brutal and uninaginable methods behind it) will force Israel's hands to kill a bunch of civilians as collateral damage (whether or not justified) which, for a generation, wipes out any chance of normalizing relations with Saudi or others. Also will end up causing issues among muslim and non-muslim citizens across western countries similar to post 9/11. I think most of the Western world (and on a relative basis, Israel) had gotten far too comfortable with the radical muslim threat and this opens that back up. For a hard line Iran govt dealing with "Westernazation" issues at home this has its advantages. Not saying there aren't other benefits or there aren't subsequent dominos to fall but at a base level this motivation makes sense to me.
  13. I found a good article yesterday (no idea if linked here, twitter, or where at this point) but it primarily discussed the intelligence failure and noted that a fake settlement had been built for training in Gaza (and no doubt Israel had to have been aware of it) but they didn't see it as a real thread. Just thought it was typical radical blustering/provocative nonsense. Basically just how asleep at the wheel the entire intelligence community was (and basically the country itself, dealing with all its internal issues) and thinking the $$ and jobs were keeping things in check. I mean hopefully a wake up call at home with similar infighting the past 7+ years.
  14. Keep in the Cloak Room.
  15. Of all the things to bitch about, I couldn't care less what time he shows up to press conferences. Dealing with these slapdick Austin reporters isn't in the top 20 things he needs to focus on Monday of a game week. P.S. He was on time today it looks like so can put your pitchfork down on that point.
  16. They really need to keep some kind of a count and cut-off access to non ticket holders at some point.
  17. The Surly press conference overreaction thread after a loss thread is one my favorite traditions.
  18. This. It was bad 2 years ago and worse this year. I get that it's a great shot for TV but it draws way too many people not going to the game into the main thoroughfare.
  19. Good thread. I was just looking to see if we had any kind of consolidated injury breakdown going into the bye week. Anyone have?
  20. Well - the Cowboys seem like they suck (and 9ers are damn good). Glad I've managed to not be emotionally invested in the Cowboys since I was a kid. Because I couldn't handle this ass kicking after yesterday if I cared,
  21. Never a doubt!

A lot of those OU teams were just flat out better than we were. Looking at it since 2000. We were clearly better in 2005. Clearly better in 2009 (and barely won that one). Any others I'm missing where we were clear (10+ point) favorites? Obviously I guess 21 once Gabriel was hurt. Teams, on paper, were pretty equal in 01, 02 and 08. I think they were slightly better when we won in 18 and we were slightly better on paper yesterday with the L. OU just had a great run in the Stoops era with a pretty seamless handoff to Riley and it's showed in the results.

I mean given some of the posts on this board I'm not sure that is a safe assumption.

Yeah, I mean I'm old enough to remember a 1-4 Charlie Strong coached Texas team that had just been beat 50-7 by TCU the week prior beating an OU team ranked #10. They all count in this rivarly.
