and there are you confidently drawing a totally unsupportable inference.  i'm going to miss that about you.

As we are going to miss your apparently over-inflated sense of self.

i realize you feel left out, but you're just not at his level.  hugo is a leader and a doer who has transformed this place.  you're just another interwebs forum troll.  a foot solider in the race to the bottom.

you gotta see it from my perspective.  you guys are a petri dish labelled "above average college educated white male americans discussing politics".  hugo is some kind of fungal spore that has contaminated my favourite plate and now all the specimens i used to enjoy observing are spinning around frantically bumping into each other and i can't make any useful observations.

Alrighty then.  Your own post contradicts itself, but thanks for the compliments.

it's funny, i have no interest in football at all.  i started reading shaggy years ago because of the intelligence of posters here.   then i started browsing the cloak room and at first it was the same.  it was great to see a reasoned debate and understand how americans of both sides think.  for a while i was coming by all the time.

then you came along.  now i come to this place hardly at all.  it's a mediocre echo chamber of hysterical trolling idiots led by you, the pied piper of paranoid delusional partisan hackery.  i keep coming back hoping the sane people have returned, but nope.   just you and sugar and dave dennison and a bunch of guys like brisket who have shit themselves with your assistance and now help you spread feces on the wall.

which is to say you are the most aggie thing about surly horns.  and you've dragged everyone down with you.

LOL.  HUGO was the one who rendered the Cloak Room unreadable for you?

    OK, Rush.

  4. The SEC has almost always been strong at the top.  That's not at all the same thing as strong top to bottom, and they have received a ridiculous leg up in both # teams and seedings over the years, particularly at the expense of the West coast.

Baylor had the best ERA and the second best batting average in conference.

I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate them on winning the conference.

Texas fans will just have to wait another year.

There are many ways to skin a cat.

  6. So leading expert on illicit gun sales Ollie North comes out of left field with some stupid theory about ADHD drugs and school shootings, and suddenly the gun nuts are all over it as the cause.

Every time they are called pieces of shit or whatever people call the Trump supporters. There are examples all over this thread.

I call 'em as I see 'em.  They're unreachable -- there is zero chance they will budge -- I've written every one of them off.

  9. Sure.  I get it.  We've never actually heard of this kind of payment in the past, but once it's revealed that our boy was part of it, suddenly we're all "yeah, I've figured this kind of thing is de rigeur in DC forever".

And by "we" I mean "you".

Top 8 is almost certainly a pipe dream

It shouldn't be if we win the tournament.  Seriously, how ludicrous would it be for the B12 conference champ and conference tournament champ to not get a top 8 seed?  Come on.

And when you realize this would not have stopped Columbine or this attack or really any others, how would you respond? Would you say "eh, we did our best"?

I disagree that it would have no effect, so your point is a non-starter for me.  But keep it up, because that level of "discourse" is what continues to drive the moderates to the eventual end game of just saying "fuck it, ban 'em all" . . . . and eventually that will happen.

I just meant politicians are corrupt as fuck and will take money from anywhere they can get it,legal or otherwise.

If you don't understand that, I pity you.

Fuck that.  Not all politicians are the same and you know it.  Cut it out, you are WAY better than this.

I think what this shows is all politicians at this level are on the take. Clinton through her foundation and Trump through his real estate holdings/pocket lawyers.

Really?  So the Clinton's tax returns which didn't show anything like "on the take" are false?

Enough with the equivocation.  Trump is a WHOLE different level of crook than any President we've had.

All I want is a dozen or so shotguns (mostly all O/U) and about 12-20 bolt action/double barrel/semi auto  (think BAR, not AR) rifles, and a few pistols (idgaf about handguns really) for home self defense.  I know that sounds like an arsenal, but really someone that hunts a range of animals and some shootings events, it isn’t.  If you account for the 8-10 that my grandfathers and great grandfathers passed down, some the only things they left us, it shrinks even faster.

You aren’t going to find me advocating for 30 round magazines, bump stocks, automatic weapons etc.

None of that sounds unreasonable to me.  There may be some gray area in the semi-auto realm but I'm not going to sit here with my current level of knowledge and say "nope".

To me it seems a multi-pronged approach would likely be most effective.  A limitation on capacity, perhaps on firing rate, stronger background checks, closing some loopholes, efforts to identify potential shooters earlier, etc.  I am sure there are good counterarguments against some of those angles.  I'm all ears if anyone can make a good case.

  15. I wish 'em all well, but I can't imagine being strong enough academically to graduate before running out of eligibility AND not coming back to work on a graduate degree for a year while playing ball.  (Assuming pro ball isn't on the table, of course, which I don't think is true for all of these guys.)

Don't kwit your day job.  Her qualifications as to the posts she occupied have never been in question.

We'll just have to agree to disagree about her preferability.  How she got where she did was questionable at every step of her career. Everywhere she's gone there have been issues of criminal, ethical and moral concerns.

That she got away with the server issue is beyond astounding (not really when a sitting president stymies the very investigations of that person) given that anyone else would have been joined or fined or kept form every serving in federally elected positions again.

You're obsessed with Hillary and cannot wrap your head around the fact that every single accusation you make about her "criminal" behavior has been investigated inside and out and she was not found to be even worthy of a subpoena, much less an actual criminal charge or conviction.

You're fucking loony, man.  You really need help.  You and all the other Trumpkins.

Less legislative or executive experience than W who was called unqualified with longer executive service and a governors house in his resume.

W's lack of qualification was almost entirely related to the fact that he was a moron.
