  1. Anyone else watching Under the Queens Umbrella? Kind of a Korean House of the Dragon. I’m more than halfway thru the 16 one hour plus episodes and am fascinated. Just seems to get better and better. A must watch for those with a touch of the yellow fever. Only problem I have with the show is that the actress playing the Queen has obviously had some work done. I mean I know the Koreans are big in the plastic surgery world but I don’t think much work was being done a few hundred years ago.
  2. I probably should have clarified, but it’s the First Class Sakura JAL Lounge that I frequent. That said, I’ve been over to the peoples side of the lounge and I believe the food and drink menu was the same. Regardless, it’s a made to order menu delivered to your table. And the curry is outstanding! (Just insure you hit the boys room before the flight else you will destroy the airplane lav!)
  3. I think KAL is in Terminal 1 at Narita so you might be right. (Last time I was thru there was 6 months or so ago.) If you are going thru Narita on American and then continuing on to HAN on JAL you are in luck. That would be Terminal 2 and it’s hopping (at least it was 2 days ago.) I would not know about where to eat as I always go to the JAL lounge and it’s outstanding. I would recommend getting Suntory World Whiskey at the duty free in NRT though. (They have been selling it with a free Suntory glass the last couple of months as well.) And as of a month or so ago Japan is pretty much open.
  4. I’m a day 1 P-1 for the Freak. (At least when Rynes is on the air.)
  5. Disinterested Ryner was infinitely better than Corby on his best day.
  6. Thanks for that stat. I was just thinking that finally getting over .500 as a modern expansion team ain’t as bad as it seems.
  7. Located inside the Hanoi Sheraton. It most certainly lived up to its rating with the best brunch I’ve ever had in Asia. As a side note the hotel is located on Truc Bach Lake (the lake John McCain was captured in.) They even have a memorial to McCain on the lake.
  8. No restrictions is an understatement. I was in Hanoi last week and the Vietnamese GAF on masks is not much different than Dallas. I’d say the PI is more slack but that would be it in Asia. Really surprised how many folks were maskless in the airport.
  9. That’s not even Little League quality. We are talking Tee-Ball hijinks.
  10. Parris Island (3rd Battalion) grad here. I promise no chow-hall war stories. We were too busy trying not get get our ass beat to remember anything about the food. (Or maybe I’m just trying to wipe it from my memory.)
  11. Looks like he started coming on last year. .879 OPS at AA as a 22 year old is more than solid.
  12. Remember when the primary gripe about the organization was the lack of development from starting pitchers? I think the Astros have overcome that issue.
  13. Interesting that there are at least 4 scouts in attendance……..
  14. Responding to Gil Bang: Lots of Navy (and Marine) pilots flew the F-16. They were used as aggressors for air to air training purposes.
  15. At this point in time, she might just be the Worlds ultimate hate-fuck.
  16. Strolled over to the local cineplex Thursday afternoon ready to watch Top Gun 2 in all its glory. Unfortunately every showing in all 4 theaters was sold out. IN F-N GEORGETOWN, MALAYSIA! Guess the words out that it’s pretty good.
  17. Seems like some pretty solid production value along with a catchy tune. Bonus points for the big tits and DSL’s. Score a (very) minor propaganda victory for the bad guys.

    Facing Nolan

I think it was Oscar Gamble who provided possibly the greatest quote about facing Nolan. “A good day against Ryan, go 0-4 and don’t get hit in the head.”
  19. BTW-MLB net work had an incredible Astro stat the other day. 75 MLB players last year were either signed or drafted by Houston. 23 more than the next closest organization. (Twenty F’n three!) Run the numbers and let that stat soke in for a moment. Jeff Luhnow was indeed a Wizard!
  20. IDGAF. The days of cheering on a second place team are done. The Astros are all about championships now!
  21. I’ve been to Paris maybe 200 times over the last 25 years (business) and have never heard of one of the restaurants. You definitely frequent a different world. Love the Astros rep though!
  22. Been to several Astro games there. Absolutely no problem sporting Astro gear. Really laid back fans, decent food and beverage items. The stadium itself has pretty much a Disney feel. (Appropriate since it’s across the highway.) But they have taken very good care of the facility (unlike Dodger Stadium.) I know I have walked up to the ticket booth and sat over the Astro dugout for like 125. (Circa 2015) Other than that have always used Stub Hub and don’t think I’ve been more than 10 rows up. Always seems to be good seats available. Huge parking lot, easy access. Go and enjoy.
  23. You guys do realize Yuli is probably 65 in American years? Bout darn time he ages out. That said we are really going to miss his glove. Probably has saved Peña 5 throwing errors or so.
  24. Speaking of curveball accents…My best bud at Florida was a Chinese-Jamaican. The looks he would get from the rednecks when he started speaking in that thick Rastafarian accent were priceless. Was a stud in the USMC as well as a Force-Recon Company Commander. Hell with a pair of nunchucks in the day.
