  1. Never knew she was the inspiration for the song. Waylon was in Ft Worth in '69 and saw an ad promoting Tina. Waylon joined Willie In the middle of a poker game. And from there the lyrics went. Learn something new every day.
  2. Yeah, we drove up that Tuesday. Worked directly across the Blanco from where the Porsche ended up on the house's slab. Just an insane night that Saturday was. Blanco rose 36 feet in less than 4 hours, five feet every 15 minutes from 10:45P to 11:45P. The Charba and McComb kids were never found I think. Agree that the Cypress devastation did and still stands out as much as anything. It really was hard to imagine.
  3. Add grilled onions and we're complete.
  4. All you need to know about Disney is that it is throwing money at that clown McAfee and Desmond somehow continues to be employed. The latter Is an incompetent, unbridled buffoon who adds absolutely nothing but idiocy to Saturdays. The below pretty much summarizes his ineptness but his bottomless bag of stupidity goes way back to a detail analysis of DeSean Jackson matched up against Aaron Ross in the Holiday Bowl, Jevean Snead's transfer and McCoy's injury and how they could impact Cal's preparation for the game. Except Cal was playing A&M. Imagine, somehow, confusing A&M with Texas. Just an example. Makes total sense that the guy is still employed by ESPN.
  5. And now that the dust has settled on the layoffs there can be little doubt that Desmond has pictures, and apparently lots of them. There is no other explanation how a clueless buffoon like him continues to be employed.
  6. Jackson is such a beating. We will know Disney is completely out of its mind if Mark Jones isn't shown the door.
  7. Yes, our National Treasure.
  8. In other news Disney still sees fit to pay that unbridled clown McAfee.
  9. Yeah, same question. I drive it often and don't recall seeing this / anything close to it.
  10. Not sure if posted. Great piece by Bill Jones on Clyde. Latter comes off really well - humble and forgiving an organization that butchered his career. Grieve is pretty emphatic about what Clyde's career should have been.
  11. Low effort is infinitely better than no effort at all. Just an acknowledgement via a simple thank you is all it takes.
  12. No national telecasts for the weekend series. MLB (out of market) for Monday's finale but Bally otherwise.
  13. Dave Raymond was just on the with Musers and said that the entire series with Houston is sold out this weekend. Probably been awhile that a (4-game, or any) series has been sold out. Doesn't hurt that it's Houston and over a long holiday weekend but that's still pretty impressive.
  14. Take time out, 2 to 3 minutes, to write thank you notes for graduation gifts. Hell, it can even be an email. If you get a paper weight or something useless, it's one thing. But a $50 gift card to the 3-houses-over neighbor's kid warrants a simple gesture of appreciation. But it's becoming less common by the day, the more I think of it.
  15. I saw Chestnut in Vegas several years ago - hot dog eating contest in front of New York-New York. Even more disgusting in person than on tv. There's got to be a million other things better to do than to watch that nauseating clutsterfuck on Coney Island.
  16. Huge market. Got it.
  17. Austin came within a cunt hair of electing Israel as mayor. It was that close. Cecilia Israel, let that sink in. The laughable idea that a right-wing nut job like Kelly could somehow become mayor, in Austin, in 2024 is just that. Laughable. That pic of Kelly and Casar makes me wish they had knives in both hands. I hate radical politicians, from either side, that much.
  18. ESPN celebrated some rag from the WNBA yesterday who recorded a triple double. You're wondering why the it's no longer called the CWS?
  19. Got in on LSU at plus 380 on the 13th. Best mix of power and discipline at the plate along with the dominant pitcher in the series, despite the bullpen. Coaching was a wash. What wasn't a wash was an LSU 80/20 crowd almost every game. Tonight, 90/10. Home games, all around. Especially tonight including belt guy behind home plate. Bargain bet overall at almost 4:1. Big bargain given how the pen performed. Hedged a little yesterday after that diarrhea. Not too much. Was just one game with 20-year old kids taking t-ball swings when Johnson threw in the towel. You don't often see 34-run turnarounds in 2 games of baseball, at any level. But at the end of the day LSU was the best team, even with Skenes sitting. Game 3 proved as such.
  20. Somewhat close to downtown (couple miles north) and certainly not near the Strip - Jerry's Nugget. Just locals, no frills, low mins, quite the interesting spot. Went for the first time last summer. Definitely going back again this summer. But probably during daylight hours.
  21. LSU belt guy behind home plate needs to be a fixture.
  22. Done right.
  23. Too bad the champagne cork didn't nail the the cro-magnon.
