  1. Ewers is a loser. Period.
  2. Mayfield ones seem to be pretty well-run. Dripping Springs location closing affected me. Definitely would make money if it was reopened by a motivated franchisee willing to help work it. Burgers and ice cream slam, fries are trash. They would probably do well to simplify their food menu, especially at the very rural locations. A lot of small towns would be even more shitty without their DQ.
  3. That is insane. How many Colonels has the US military had killed in battle post-Vietnam? Can’t be more than a handful. 45 is big ass number. Same for them losing 10 Generals.
  4. Posted without comment. https://deadline.com/2020/08/planes-trains-and-automobiles-remake-will-smith-kevin-hart-paramount-john-hughes-john-candy-steve-martin-1203015171/
  5. If we win the fucking conference and the subsequent bowl game against a highly ranked opponent, we will finish with 4 straight wins against bowl teams and ranked in the top 8 with a likely top 3 recruiting class. And this board will be slobbering so much over Sarks knob they’ll drown. I’m not saying an extension is the right move or any kind of guarantee, but that kind of season easily exceeds expectations, which in todays college football coaching world usually means there’s at least discussion of raises/extensions.
  6. Still a huge range of outcomes for this season; we have a chance to finish 10-4, 9-4, 9-5, 8-5, 8-6, or 7-6. At the time of Sark’s hire most people would have started beating off if you’d told them we’d be 10-4 with a conference championship and a top 5 recruiting class in year 2 (while having a 49-0 win over OU and being 4 plays away from an undefeated season). Just the same, most people would have rioted if you’d told them Sark would be .500 after 2 years. Considering how recruiting is going, 8-9 wins puts Sark on a fine trajectory with next season and the following being the real proving ground. 7-6 would be bad, and should put Sark on the hot seat. 10 wins is extension territory.
  7. Children of Men and shit
  8. That’s how it is with a lot of people including my wife and I. Banged away for 2 years trying for #1, ended up having to do Clomid/IUI. Decided we were ready for #2, one squirt and done. Damn the luck.
  9. $1.2M for a guy who rarely strikes out, is an above average base runner, and is a good defender at CF, SS, 2B, and 3B is a good value. Dubon should definitely be tendered.
  10. Mother of fucking god. How has there not been more vigilante justice against those cops.
  11. Unemployment <5% MoM Core PPI just came in flat for Oct Russia getting utterly buttfucked in a kinetic war without a single American service member dying Split congress with moderate POTUS Its a great time to be an American.
  12. Any one of Bell, Rizzo, or Abreu would be a great fit for Houston’s lineup and clubhouse. Those 3 are pretty far separated from all the other available 1B options, whether trade, free agent, or internal. Yandy Diaz would be the only trade target I think could be as good as those 3. If they aren’t going to go get one of those 4 guys, I just as soon they roll with some combo of Matijevic, Yainer Diaz, and Hensley at 1B and bring back Yuli on a cheap one year as a bench bat/insurance. But I do expect Houston to sign one of the big 3 free agent 1B. Don't count Verlander out. I think Crane likes him enough that if he circles back after shopping around, the last offer will still be valid even if it means going over the tax threshold. Odds have certainly gone down since the end of the season but it’s not over with him until he officially signs elsewhere. Good news is Houston will be just fine either way. The next 2 seasons should be the most talented rosters Houston has ever fielded.
  13. There is no democrat who can win a senate race in Texas in 2024. Texas Dems would be better doing something similar what Utahns did with McMullin this year: not running someone from the party at all and instead backing a moderate Republican in the primary or an independent who vows not to caucus with either party. McConaughey could be a viable example of the latter.
  14. I’m not gonna challenge your analysis. You’ve earned the right to be petty.😂
  15. Meh. My comment wasn’t wrong. I said it would hurt him, not that it would cost him the race. I think the debates/stroke did make that race closer than it otherwise would have been.
  16. I have looked and looked and I don’t really see a reputable Republican that I would point to as a role model. Romney, Sununu, and Hogan are pretty prominent guys who can at least say they never bowed to Trumpism. The mayor of Miami seems like the type of guy who could emerge 6-8 years from now as the face a new non-Trump GOP. Say what you want about Biden’s policies, he can at least put up a convincing front that he’s a good man. Not that I’d necessarily point to him as a role model, just that I’d point to him well before I would point to any Republican I know much about.
  17. Are there 5-6 sane GOP Reps who can prevent bullshit? Who are they?
  18. 51-49 D Senate with 220-215 R House is just about best case realistic scenario. Only need to find 3 sane Republicans in order to be able to pass everything needed to keep the lights on. By 2024 there’s a good chance inflation will be <3% and unemployment will still be <6%, making for a better environment for Dems, which they’ll need since the senate races coming up look bad for them.
  19. Sadly, I think even if Huffines had won the primary he would have beaten O’Rourke.
  20. Finally, FINALLY, we are getting some actual “downfall” mixed in with our “pathetic man”. Fuck yes!
  21. The more I think about it, I think the only way we will ever get a Dem governor (at least in the next 20 years) is if there is an extremely well funded far right wing independent candidate.
  22. The only boxes Beto checked on the “Viable Democrat candidate for Texas Governor” list are that he’s a good looking white male and he speaks Spanish. Boxes he didn’t check: Completely reject the Dem party stance on immigration and border security Do not ever talk about taking people’s guns away (probably ok to talk about adding restrictions to gun purchases) There are parts of the Dem platform that could probably get broad support in Texas (universal healthcare, education funding, abortion rights), but not if the candidate can in any way be labeled as favoring gun control or an open border.
  23. Trump has single-handedly cost the gop the senate in 2 consecutive cycles. LoL. I cannot wait to see how this shakes out. The odds of Trump quietly ceding the mantle to DeSantis are zero. The odds of Trump winning in 2024 are near zero. I wouldn’t say watching this play out will make 2016-2022 worthwhile, but it will be a decent consolation prize.
  24. While the House outcomes look like a pretty round rejection of Trump, the Senate is murkier. Johnson retained his seat, and it looks like Laxalt and Vance will win, while Walker will make it to a runoff. Masters and Oz were the only 2 of those 6 contested seats where Trump’s candidate was clearly beaten.
