  1. I think #1 and #2 make up a LOT bigger % of the issue than 3 and 4.
  2. I’m increasingly concerned that this round of inflation is largely the result of demographic shifts and thus raising rates will not address the real issue, which is a worker shortage across the entire first world. Instead of reducing access to capital for everyone we should be reallocating capital from those who’ve been increasingly hoarding it for the last 30 years (in addition to using immigration to increase supply of young workers).
  3. So far it’s been ok. Solid character development, good acting, excellent world building. Lacks the Star Wars nostalgia which I’m sure will come. Mandalorian was grade A and I will be shocked if any SW shows top it. Boba Fett was weak (C-), and Obi-Wan was a mixed bag (B-/C+). So far I’m giving Andor a C+ But I expect it to get better.
  4. The lax security at my gate this year has been shocking. The lack of involvement from the band has been disappointing, as has the lack of organic “Texas! Fight!” chants. There have also been inconsistent rules about being able to cross sections to access concessions and restrooms, which is insane. For Bama there were 45 minute lines for beer in my section while no lines at the next section over. I like the terraces/patios in the south end zone. I got moved to 31 from 17 and it has been fine EXCEPT I went from 3 seats from the aisle to 40 seats from the aisle and that SUCKS.
  5. This. Oct-Nov is good. March is good. There are some decent weeks in Dec-Feb but generally it’s cold. April thru September is fucking hell on earth. I hate it here now.
  6. Updated roster depth chart for opening day? C Guillemette Jr. 1B Thomas 2B Daly SS Flores 3B O'Dowd RF Kennedy CF Campbell LF Brown DH Whitehead Bench: Carlson, Galvan, Powell, Belyeu Extra position players: C Constantine, C Hoffart, IF Duplantier, OF Fields, IF O'Hara, C Schuessler, C Fahrlander Weekend SP: Hurley, Gordon, Shaw (+Witt, when healthy) Weekday SP: Harrison, Stuart, Walbridge RP: Tole, Grossman, Sthele, Morehouse, Johnson, Duplantier Extra Pitchers: Lummus, O'Banan, Burke, Minchey, Grubbs, Howard, Porchas, George, Valentine
  7. She may not have a choice. It sure seems like she has been an overwhelming liability for him. I’m not sure if there is a clearly better alternative but I can definitely envision a scenario where replacing her makes sense.
  8. If he is alive, he will run again. I am more anxious to see if he switches VPs.
  9. I bet Teal Akerson lives a pretty sweet life.
  10. Am I wrong to fear that if the primary cause of inflation is supply side (supply chain from COVID/Ukraine and limited labor force) then raising rates will reduce access to capital required to unfuck those factors, making things worse?
  11. Ewers back fully healthy for WVU to tune up before OU would be ideal.
  12. I am not qualified to school anyone but given the global nature of inflation it seems pretty clear that US economic/fiscal policy is not the only (or even leading) cause. Sure, loose spending and tax cuts over the last 2 decades are contributing factors, but it looks pretty clear to me that the pandemic and subsequent war in Ukraine are still having a major impact on supply. The questions relevant to this thread are: How much of the inflation is Biden’s fault? Some, but only a fraction. Biden didn’t cause the pandemic which led to global supply chain issues that still haven’t fully resolved. He didn’t cause the Russian invasion of Ukraine that led to supply shocks in food and gas. Yes, Biden has spent, and I personally wish he hadn’t signed that stimulus in 2021. But that represents only a fraction of the money supply. The Bush/Trump tax cuts and the Obama/Trump stimulus packages dwarf the amount of money released during Bidens term. Of the 8.3 YoY cpi increase for August, my guess is Biden’s spending has contributed less than 2% of that 8.3%. What can Biden do to combat inflation? The Fed is raising rates to combat the inflation caused by increased money supply, but technically Biden doesn’t control that. Biden has made several key moves to battle inflation with pretty clear positive results. Releasing oil supply helped tame gas prices. The Inflation Reduction Act will likely lower overall inflation impacts for middle and lower class Americans. There are several other things I’d like to see him accomplish: work with the Saudis to increase their supply, work to resolve the Russia/Ukraine conflict, and work to assist China in resolving their supply chain issues. Obviously avoiding more supply shocks (eg railroad strikes) is also important. I personally think an underrated aspect of this inflationary period is demographic trends. Boomers are aging out of the workforce and there aren’t enough workers to replace them. I am not sure if addressing that issue via immigration is politically feasible at this time, but medium and long term something will have to be done there.
  13. UTSA: Wright, with a limited Card ready to come into a close game, RoJo with a slightly expanded wildcat package, and Lourd being ready with 6-10 plays. Ideally Wright shows well and the game is never in serious doubt. TT: Card, with Wright as the backup and RoJo with a slightly expanded wildcat package. WV: Card, with Wright as the backup and (hopefully) Ewers looking pretty good and able to get some practice reps as the emergency #3. OU forward: Ewers with Card as the backup and Wright as the #3.
  14. Wow, he sounds great in that clip. Fingers crossed he’s on his way to 95%+ recovery.
  15. I fully expected YoY cpi to come in under 8, so 8.3 was a really bad number from my perspective. Now I am thinking about joining those that are worried they’re gonna crash the plane to avoid flying too high.
  16. Fuck. We may see a full point. This is bad.
  17. I expect Sorrell and Overshown to have big games this Saturday along with RoJo, Whittington, and Sanders.
  18. I have not dug into it, so my assumption could be incorrect although that would go against logic imho because they are migrating to urban areas in Texas and I am pretty sure those cities aren’t less blue than 10 years ago. Link?
  19. This is gonna be the RoJo game. We might not blow them out, but we are going to beat UTSA’s ass. This is where we see that Sark is a good evaluator of talent who does not leave players on his roster who can’t play. Wright is not as good as Ewers, not even close. But if he is the guy this game then he will be fine. He can make the plays necessary to beat a team like UTSA.
  20. I said I have no heroes, but I do have a deep admiration for Fred Rogers based on what I know about him.
  21. If California exported people to Wyoming, Utah, and Idaho like they do to Texas, those states would be blue pretty quick.
  22. I was in section 17 from 2009-2021 before they relocated me to section 31 and lemme tell you brother I am fuckin pissed. I went from being about 4 seats from the aisle to being as far away from the aisle as mathematically possible. And I went from being able to see the field (from the middle of the north end zone lower level) to about the worst seats you can possibly have on the lower level, back of the side south end zone. This fucking sucks.
  23. My heroes growing up were my grandfather, my mom's 9 brothers, and Muggsy Bogues. Now, I don't have heroes. There are certainly people I admire (whether people I know personally or people I have read about), but adulthood has jaded me against holding anyone up too high; people will always disappoint you at some point. It's amazingly sad how growing old forces you to see the flaws in other people.
  24. The googles are telling me only about 10% of stroke victims fully recover. Yes he’s younger than the average stroke patient but I think expecting a full return to his previous abilities is setting up for disappointment.
