  1. 2. Leaving aside the fact that a stroke victim’s issues with speech are not necessarily related to their ability to think, you’ve hit on the fundamental difference between the current GOP voter and everyone else (both Dems and independents). Fetterman shows up to debate and obviously has issues with speech, then drops in the polls. It shows those that were planning on voting for him think critically and are having second thoughts. That’s healthy voter behavior. Meanwhile, the GOP runs out traitorous and retarded shitbags like Walker and Masters, and they expose their stupidity/sedition in debates, and no such change.
  3. Senator McMullin, Demings, Franken, Beasley, Ryan, and/or Barnes: things are clearly moving in the right direction. Senator Walker, Oz, Laxalt, and/or Masters: last one out turn out the lights. It’s over. I think it ends up 50-50 again. Fetterman having that stroke was a fucking brutal blow.
  4. I don’t think they’re meant to suppress turnout so much as set up for election fraud claims.
  5. There is absolutely nothing worse than having sick kids. This is the 3rd Halloween my daughter has been sick. She’s 4 years old. She was only sick for a week and it was never that bad, but we had the shit luck that my older daughter didn’t catch it until the very end so now we’re starting all over. Worst part is the older one always sports very high fevers. Extremely hard not to panic when you see those 104s coming up on the thermometer. My mind always goes to the worst. I‘m fit for a fucking straight jacket.
  6. I really really liked Fetterman before the stroke; he was one of the best prospects the Dems have had in awhile, but goddam the clips I have seen of the debate are brutal. The man could not effectively communicate. I still fervently hope he wins, Oz is a grifting ghoul. But this debate will (and probably should) hurt Fetterman.
  7. 8. Nothing has changed since last December. No sane person expected us to win 11+ games this season. We will finish somewhere between 5 and 11 wins and update judgement of Sark accordingly: 5 or 6 wins and he must be fired 7 wins and he should be firmly on the hot seat, and anything less than 9 wins in 2023 should result in him getting fired. Also, this should mean at least one coordinator has to be fired. 8 wins and he gets judgement reserved another year; anything less than 9 wins in 2023 results in him being on the hot seat. This also likely means a coordinator should be fired. 9 wins and he met expectations; moving forward, 9+ wins is the minimum standard to avoid being on the hot seat, and a conference championship every 3-4 years is expected. 10-11 wins and he gets a raise. I still expect 8 wins this season.
  9. Not that it’s impossible, but I’d be shocked if it were a tree root; there aren’t any trees within 50 feet of the spot. I have no idea what could have caused the leak. A part of me is wondering if the vibrations from the road work a block away (I’m near the 290 construction being done near the Y) caused the crack.
  10. Pool sprung a leak. Leak inspector says return is broken, which aligns with where the grass is green and ground stays wet. Haven’t gotten a repair estimate back but the description (basically digging out and breaking up 1/4 of the pool) given makes me think it’s going to be pretty costly. Our pool is over 30 years old and we have known we would need to resurface/update/remodel sometime in the next decade or so. Anybody got advice on how to determine if the repair is worth doing or if we should just go ahead and remodel? I have no clue what things cost, pulling a guess out of my butt I am thinking the remodel we want will be in the $40k-$80k range, so if the repair is gonna cost more than $20k it would probably be better off just remodeling. Any advice/recommendations on what to do is much appreciated. Same for remodel contractor referrals; I’m in SW Austin.
  11. It would be a big surprise to see anything resembling a red wave. 51-50 Dem senate with a 225-210 GOP house is prolly where things currently project. Not the end of the world. Dems are lucky the red team sent out 2 mentally defectives for senate in swing states.
  12. We will finish 7-5 and win a bowl to finish 8-5, right in line with preseason expectations. Sark will fire PK and we will rev the hype train back up during the offseason.
  13. Without looking, I bet it’s been a LONG time since Texas had 10 guys selected in a single nfl draft.
  14. Man y’all hatin on DMO. He has rare athleticism and a size/speed combo that usually gets guys drafted in the top half of the draft.
  15. My current guess on where our guys get drafted next year: 1st round: Bijan 2nd: Overshown, Coburn 3rd: Whittington 4th: Jamison 5th: Roschon 6th: Sweat 7th: Ojomo Signed UDFA: Billingsley, Cook, Jones Juniors like Collins, Ford, Thompson, Barron, Watts, Keilan, and Crawford could play themselves into early entry considerations but would be extremely unlikely to be taken in the top 3 rounds regardless of how well they show between now and then. The other seniors (Dorsey, Milton, and Oghoufu) could get UDFA looks depending on how they test at pro day.
  16. Wtf? Did you accidentally respond to the wrong post? I said I will likely vote 90% democrat. I’m pro universal healthcare.
  17. I am 42 and consider myself too late for Gen X but too early to be a Millenial. I have traits of both stereotypes. I was raised ultra-conservative south Texas catholic. Both my parents are proud to be single issue pro-life voters. I consider myself very lucky they don’t watch too much Fox news and aren’t big time Trumpers, although I’m sure they voted for him twice. I actively avoided politics until my late 20s. If I had voted, I would’ve gone straight ticket GOP. Over my late 20s and early 30s, I gained enough life experience and did enough reading and critical thinking to realize a whole lot of the political views I’d been fed during my youth were bullshit. The rise of Trumpism was the final straw for me; I reluctantly voted for Evan McMullin for president in 2016 and proudly voted Biden in 2020. I haven’t made my final decisions yet but I am pretty sure I will vote 90%+ Democrat this year. I will never vote for anyone who doesn’t reject Trump and the big lie. So all that is to say I wouldn’t say I’ve done a complete 180 but I vote wildly different than I would have as a younger man.
  18. Man, FUCK La Niña.
  19. The war crimes have made it really hard to envision any kind of full resolution in the near term. If the Russians hadn’t bombed civilians en masse then I would think there could be a negotiated truce (Russia keeps Crimea, Ukraine promises to never join NATO, Russia pays money for reparations). As it is I think this only ends with Putin’s death or displacement; that could take awhile and cost the world a lot.
  20. Sure seems like Elon is destined for a “Britney Spears shaves her head” meltdown. Not sure if this is it but it’s coming.
  21. Obviously zero chance based on his experience and Trump/DeSantis grip on the gop. But he seems like he’d make a good governor and depending on what he does over the next 18 months he could put himself in position to be on VP shortlists if a non-Trump/DeSantis Republican wins the nomination (there were rumors he was on Haley’s list). https://www.politico.com/news/2021/04/28/trump-florida-republican-fix-gop-484807
  22. I still wouldn’t bet on McMullin but this race will be close; I will be surprised if it’s wider than 3 points. If there is one red state where Trump is a net negative to the GOP, it’s Utah.
  23. Fuck a bunch of little boys in the ass Start a bunch of hospitals Hate on the gays Start a bunch of schools Hate on muslims Meals on wheels and shit Christianity is a mixed bag for sure. Anecdotally, in my life I have found zero correlation between a person’s character and their religious beliefs, although generally the more someone talks about religion, the less I like them, regardless of their beliefs.
  24. He cannot be allowed to occupy a United States senate seat. My god.
