  1. A lifetime of being a KU FB fan has taught me to have low expectations, but hope for the best. I think Leipold has turned KU into a legitimate team far faster than expected. It is not just being 3-0, but that KU just won 2 road games back to back versus 2 FBS schools ( 1 B12) after we just ended a 56 game B12 road losing streak last year and a 46 game overall road losing streak a few years ago. Both NCAA records. KU had not won back to back road games since 2007. I think KU is still kind of short on talent, but the emphasis on being fundamentally sound is paying off in a big way. Plus, our QB is looking special based on the end of last year and the beginning of this year. Leipold is great at molding an offense around the talent on hand. I thought KU would have no worries about keeping Leipold due to his age and how long it might take to turn around the program to a point where KU is competitive and has a chance to possibly make a bowl game. Now, I just hope KU can pay enough to keep him, if a school like Nebraska comes sniffing around. But, I would rather worry about having a coach other schools want, than have a coach nobody covets like the last handful of coaches at KU.
  2. Sure some big donors to the GOP in Texas need to get a return on their donations.
  3. This should trouble the RNC. Kansas is like 40-45% Republican about a third independent and a quarter Democrat. The measure got shot down by a nearly 20 point margin. Around 50 percent more voted in this primary than in the last primary, which was the highest to this point. That kind of turnout in a red state against a Republican initiative spells trouble for the red wave the RNC is hoping for this year. They really should have waited until 2023 to pull their bullshit. They probably gave the Dems an issue to run on that can prevent a red wave.
  4. Trump will go fully aggy. Hope Marla and Melania are happy to see where they will be buried. I fully expect Trump will have a leaderboard installed so they will always know their favorite asshole ex's golf score and know how much he is cheating that day.
  5. When it comes to how others live their lives, a normal person is like is what they are doing affecting me? Are they hurting anyone? If not, then live and let live. The problem with highly religious people is they can't just leave others alone. They have to push their religions tenants onto everyone. Religion in politics is what is driving our country to the brink. Politics is compromise. There is no compromise with true believers and now the Republican party has done the same to politics with the evangelical/fundamentalist infection.
  6. Money is the best indicator of who will win an election. Roughly 85-90 percent of the time the candidate who spent more money wins. Maybe it makes a difference with the ads a campaign can buy, or it shows which candidate is more popular, or that winning previously attracts money. Probably a combination of a few things, but it does strongly correlate with who wins an election.
  7. Sounds like it is time to strip the Secret Service from the Department of Homeland Security unless they investigate and fire the people responsible. Return it to the Treasury Department or I am sure the FBI would be happy to take it over or the DoJ which houses the Marshal service. Actually, just breaking up Homeland Security would be a good idea with all the issues they have had over the years. That was another Bush presidency mistake.
  8. It takes courage to kill yourself. To give up everything you have or ever will have. Just like going through a door with a shooter on the other side to save some kids. I think the UPD kind of lacks in that area.
  9. I see what you did there. MAGA likes to look at Hunter's hog. A lot.
  10. All these white supremacist groups around the world are interconnected now days. Thanks internet. American, European, South African, Russian, Australian - it does not matter where. They share the same symbols. The confederate flag is a symbol used in places outside of America just like Nazi and other symbols have been imported and used by American white power groups. The Russian Wagner group has it on their uniforms along with a some Nazi stuff as well. They really love lost cause imagery, like the confederate flag, since a big part of it is the idea that whites are being pushed out of power, out bred, and are fighting a losing battle against non-whites, but must keep fighting any way. This is a good article by Time about the Wagner group and how these groups are intertwined now days.
  11. My family that are anti-Biden/anti-Dems are not talking about Trump at all, but Desantis is the one they bring up to be the next president in 2024. They also have bought into the demonization of Harris. Harris will be a loser, if Biden does not seek re-election, and the Dems try to run her in 2024. She actually has a lower approval rating than Biden. The Dems need another Obama or Bill Clinton to come forward, especially if inflation continues to be high or the economy tanks, if they want to win in 2024 IMO. The primary candidates from 2020 just do not have anyone that can overcome bad inflation or a bad economy. If they had the charisma to pull it off, they would have trounced Biden, and be president now. Trump doesn't run. The RNC will pay Trump so much money and prop him up as the Godfather meets Wizard of Oz backroom dealmaker that MADE Desantis. Trump will get everything he wants (money, influence, and the appearance of power) with none of the bothersome work that goes into being rich, influential, and powerful. I think, if Trump loses the nomination, they just need to have DeSantis, or whomever wins it, tell him they will pardon him, if elected. If he tries to burn the GOP down, and they are elected, no pardon for the Trumps and they will "encourage" prosecution for any crimes he was involved with. They can pardon or give immunity to any co-conspirators to fuck Trump only. Only problem is Trump is an old dude with mental instability so he might just try to burn it down anyway.
  12. Once he gets the jacking two dudes off at once dance move down he will be downright presidential.
  13. The Kardashians just license their name and image and get a hefty percentage of profits for doing so. Companies do all the work and use them to get the idiot fans to buy their stuff. They did not actually build anything. They are like Trump, but with the skipping the whole trying to build stuff and failing over and over.
  14. Well, not since she got old enough to fight back.
  15. If you have political ambitions of someday being president, like a lot of politically inclined ego maniacs, reaching higher office in a highly populated state is a big step towards a possible successful run for that office. You can almost certainly count on winning your own state and a bunch of electoral votes in a presidential election. So Texas as been the spot for Republicans for a couple decades at least, with Florida recently joining you. However, most soon realize they will not be popular or charismatic enough to be president someday, so then you are stuck with them staying around, fucking up your state, in whatever local or state office they got elected to. For Dems, California and New York would be ideal places to launch your political career.
  16. Cape buffalo is a prey animal and kills as many people as lions do each year. A moose can run at up to 35 mph, has 6 ft antlers from end to end and weights 3/4 of a ton. More people are attacked by moose than bears in Alaska and Canada each year. In part, because they are 3 to 4 times more numerous than bears, but an angry, scared, or horny moose can fuck you up. Just because something is not a predator, does not mean it can't attack, hurt, or even, kill humans. Some animals are just cantankerous (bison, hippos and elephants are other good examples). That said, good for Canada at least attempting something, at least young kids dying here spurred some attempts to change somewhere.
  17. This conservative utopia of unfettered access to guns seems to not be as cool as promised.
  18. Studies from WWII that found that a a significant number (some as high as 75%) of soldiers would never fire their weapons directly on a person and the US military had to revamp a bunch of things to get the military to a point where like 90% of soldiers would fire at someone by Vietnam. Many self-defense gun owners are living a fantasy that they will be the Billy Badass that saves the day, but many, or even most, will freeze up or even run when a deadly confrontation happens, just like soldiers from WWII. It takes a certain inherent willingness to kill that most people lack (luckily) or special training to overcome the psychological barriers to killing another person, like the US military receives today, that most people will never have access too. Many cops are included in this group, if they are not veterans, or swat. Adding more cops/security will not help much, as most will probably never receive the kind consistent training needed to ensure they can successfully square up on a shooter and take them out.
  19. Biden talking tough. Let's see what kind of follow through occurs.
  20. Poll by Yahoo News/You Gov on GRT. Highlights: When asked if “a group of people in this country are trying to replace native-born Americans with immigrants and people of color who share their political views” All Americans 33% agree Trump voters 61% agree Republicans 54% Fox News viewers 53% Nearly 3/4 of Trump voters think “discrimination against white people has become as big a problem as discrimination against Black people in the U.S.,” and 2/3 of Republicans agree. A lot more good info in the article relating to views on who is committing political violence and what contributed to the Buffalo shooting.
