  1. I cared. A lot. I’ve been very involved in campaigns at the local and federal involved volunteering my time and money. I’ve authored a voter’s guide for my neighbors and friends for the last 5 years and done a ton to GOTV amongst that group. I’ve given up my time to work as a campaign worker in multiple elections, including the election in November. I’ve called my representatives to share my opinions on issues. I’ve cared more than the average voter. My fellow voters have spoken. I’m done caring. My mental health is much better for it.
  2. Telling CEOs we will give you special protection instead of telling them to stop being assholes that require special protection is certainly an interesting strategy.
  3. You have to be incredibly dumb to get engaged at 21. You’re even dumber for doing it at 21 if you’re a talented athlete earning a ton of NIL money and on the verge of signing a big professional contract.
  4. Says the guy who, as president-elect, gets intelligence briefings.
  5. This is my experience with them at the last company I worked at. Tens of millions were spent before the company finally fired them, scrapped everything they did and redid the mission critical stuff themselves.
  6. I don’t think you’re even close to being the only one. I’m guessing you would find a large majority on this board support both of the examples you cited as good ideas. I would be thrilled if he was able to push the Trump administration and Congress to pass legislation and implement policy that addresses both of those issues. The downside is that he supports some truly awful positions that would have a massive detrimental effect on the health of people in this country, in particular our most vulnerable and those that can’t vote. The downsides far outweigh the potential upsides so, despite having some positions that I can get onboard with, I think he’s a danger to this country and should not be confirmed.
  7. Thanks for explaining the joke.
  8. It was a blanket clemency program for people that were released from prison during COVID and subsequently remanded to home confinement. He was one of 1,500 people that qualified. He would have been released in 2026. In a world where we have elected a rapist and convicted felon to the highest office in the land, I’m not going to lose sleep over a guy being released from house arrest a little over a year early. That does not mean I’m defending his crimes.
  9. Those planes have been there for years. Dude paints them with whatever his shitty political message du jour is.
  10. The lesson that Trump has taught us all is that playing by the rules, norms and customs gets you absolutely nowhere. There’s a new playbook.
  11. You can afford last minute ski trips, but $100 for a tailgate with unlimited food and booze is a bridge too far? How much do lift tickets cost these days?
  12. $20 doesn’t even cover the fixed costs before F&B of the tailgate per what imma posted upthread.
  13. $100 for open bar and AYCE prime rib is crazy cheap.
  14. The Arizona that has a D governor, AG, secretary of state and two US senators? It’s not quite like the others in your list.
  15. Both of them are idiots that should live together on Idiot Island.
  16. Not even close. The in-laws lake house that I mentioned earlier is a little north and west of Mt. St Helen’s and it is a Trumpian hellscape. When I need to drive into Centralia to hit up the Safeway or load up on the booze required to stay sane, I swear I can hear banjo music. These are not sophisticated people in those parts. Driving up I-5, you can be treated to this nut’s billboard in Chehalis.
  17. What I really want to know is how those old farts get those two cast iron bathtubs to all of those scenic locations.
  18. The one that gets me is the one that lists taint abscess as a side effect. I think of the human lab rats over at PPD that got to experience that pleasure firsthand during clinical trials.
  19. Pharma ads are a whole industry unto itself. It’s completely bizarre.
  20. Stop being an asshole. Then again, I shouldn’t expect any better from someone who has the ASU pitchfork for their avatar. Not exactly the cream of the crop.
  21. That doctor is a complete idiot if she’s providing telemedicine services without a license in Texas.
  22. The party of law and order loves to lionize people who kill other humans. It’s perverse.
  23. That’s a really shitty take and you should feel bad. People have to earn a living. Time and resources invested in building a career can be a significant impediment to picking up and starting over in a different location. I’m not going to judge anyone that is in that boat.
