  1. We had a corporate retreat/summit in the Cotswolds twice while I was with a Dutch company. One was at a more generic hotel and conference center, but the other was outside of Witney at the Old Swan & Minster Mill. Highly recommend it if you have a chance. It felt so olde English that they offered hot water bottles and turndown service at the inn to keep warm at night. Semi-related, I miss having an English manager I'd see 3-4 times a year who would invariably spend one night per trip getting so drunk that I got in trouble by association.
  2. I'd say it's a huge win for a city that, up until 30 years ago, was really nothing more than an Air Force base crossed with a thousand truck stops.
  3. 2 was conceptually great, and the story rules. They had to turn it around too quickly and got stuck re-using the same environments for a lot of the segments, which people found annoying. They also chose to make combat more difficult and less immersive with randomly appearing waves of enemies. Inquisition scratched the itch of castle/realm upgrades and story choice missions, and I'm a sucker for that type of progression.
  4. Primanti Bros. wasn't my cup of tea. Maybe if you get it without the slaw? Cold salad on top of hot fries just means cold, mushy fries. Burgatory is a chain that was reliable for me if I needed something good but not fancy. Warhol museum was fun. You won't get to see a Penguins game, and I haven't been for a Pirates game, but I'd imagine it's great. Try to get up on the south side of the river at the top of the hill for an amazing view.
  5. I'm a big fan of buying relatively cheap for non-stick and relatively pricy for stainless/clad stuff. Nonstick coating tends to wear faster and is unrecoverable once it starts to go. If I (or my daughter) burns something onto my stainless stuff, a good shot of barkeeper's friend usually cleans it right up.
  6. Gasso has also been relatively open about how her attitude and approach were keeping the team from achieving between that first and second win. Somewhat remarkable for a professional coach at any level to be able to diagnose and correct that. Ego problems tend to stop people from fixing ego problems.
  7. That's right, it's not really close to anything, and all I can really speak to is the ribs. They seem proud of their barbecue spaghetti, but I've never wanted to try it. Rendezvous was dry and underwhelming the times I've tried it. Great ambiance and a fun story, so if you're traveling with a group and they want a sense of the history, I think there's a place for that.
  8. I'm a big BarBQ Shop supporter. I prefer spare ribs to baby backs and I believe Central does baby backs exclusively? They benefit from being close to everything, and right around the corner from the Lorraine Hotel and a few blocks from the best place in Memphis, the Cheesecake Corner.
  9. I saw it Friday and it sounds terrible to say, given the subject matter, but I really enjoyed it.
  10. I'm getting this for when I wrap up my Farcry backlog. Thanks for the heads-up. I just hope I can adjust to losing soldiers, as XCOM made me overly cautious.
  11. Underrepresented band in lists of era-specific greatness. We loved them so much we let our guitarist's girlfriend start playing shows just because she had an organ and great hair.
  12. Getting a Clemson-style class of 16-18 dudes is NOT going to fly anymore unless you're also picking up 10-12 from the portal every season.
  13. They (I only separate myself from them because I don't love the tone of the new program) are absolutely eating it up. Though, there have been some rumblings about when the recruits who love what BV is building are going to, you know, actually commit...
  14. It sure seems like an antiquated position to take, given the huge swing towards player agency we've seen in the last couple of years. It's great to find players who are incredibly bought in and loyal, but is it reasonable to hope that that same group of players is the best possible assembly of talent you could have? When it works, it's unbeatable, but that's a lot of eggs in one big, Jesus-scented basket.
  15. I hope that's not true, damn. I know the staff likes what they're getting out of some of the other young guys quite a bit, but if they can't find a way to get Smith motivated and involved, that's a failure in my eyes. Maybe it's just personalities not meshing and what can you do with a new staff, but he's got tons of potential.
  16. Starfox
  17. It's Pastagate all over again. Shameful behavior from a lawless bunch.
  18. I need to get on this. This is 100% up my alley, from the trailer. Any Rubicon fans out there?
  19. Does he...seem like he sucks?
  20. Eddie is the best.
  21. Semi-related and a different sort of fun:
  22. I was there a few years ago and had Beer and Tacos. I was staying by the convention center and it was a great lunch.
  23. We thought the bo ssam turned out really well. The outside was on the edge of being too salty, but it worked well in combination with the rest of the roast. The ssamjiang I bought and dressed up with sesame oil and some seeds. My wife also has a complete inability to correctly estimate the limits of any food wrap.
