  1. 2011-2012, Jester West. Actually lived on same floor as track team and some football players (Jaxon and Cedric Reed were really nice guys. Case was a dick). Hung out with Ryan Crouser quite a bit who now has two gold medals and the world record in shot put. Someone put together an NCAA Football tournament and Quandre Diggs destroyed my ass. Interestingly enough almost all the football players chose to play with West Virginia. CSB
  2. Damn, kid got paid. Good for him.
  3. Hiring manager didn't think you were overqualified to press a crunchwrap supreme at that point? Hope you hang around and post more. I've mostly only seen Surly/Shaggy while we sucked shit through a straw... can't imagine how fun it will be if we get this thing rolling.
  4. Yeah... gotta think that's Watts-Brown. I really want this guy. He continues to pitch well in the Cape. Last night he went 5.0 with 9 k's and only gave up 3 hits, 2 walks and 2 unearned runs. Kid is legit.
  5. Hopefully we can get a 2-1 LBSU special and get Watts-Brown as well.
  6. I know we seem to think the ship has sailed on him but Skenes on there at 50.
  7. Home Schooled and previously a Blinn commit?
  8. Yes, he sucked. I don't blame Blair... he shouldn't have ever been offered a spot here. Staff obviously saw something to believe there was untapped potential but you better be damned sure when you're wasting a roster spot at Texas on a guy with a track record like this.
  9. Hmm... I wonder if they modeled this after an existing initiative somewhere else? @RGBIII Tech really does have potential to be a wildcard in NIL era given Campell's deep pockets and motivation. Every player on the roster getting $25k is pretty impressive.
  10. He spent 2 years at OCC before his first year with us in 2020. So unless there was some additional waiver/medical redshirt , I believe that means 2022 was his extra COVID year and he's out of eligibility.
  11. Yes. Often significantly. Here are college bats taken in first two rounds of 2021 draft: These are more polished bats than Trey and pretty much all see pretty meaningful increased K rates. Worth mentioning that guys often see their K rate climb as they rise through the minors and the Minors stats above are mostly complied against lower level minor pitching. Trey was at 40.2% K% in Big 12 Play. So yeah... he will get absolutely feasted on by minor league pitching without a MAJOR change in approach.
  12. This. 1381 D1 hitters with 200 PA's. Trey had 5th highest K rate (36%). That's higher than the highest MLB rate from last season- Joey Gallo at 34.6%. Trey can be elite at SS and shows projectable power but none of that will matter if he can't reduce his K's. If he came back and got that rate down to 25%, he'd be a top 3 rounder. Slot value for where Reds took him is $219k, last pick of 3rd round slot this year was $577k. I'd love to see him back selfishly but I also think he could really do well for himself financially if he could take that step forward with us.
  13. I thought this was coming and I think he is at that point. He needs to show that he is capable of adjusting his approach and cutting K's to something SORTA passable (25-30% K rate). That proof of development plus his other tools should put him in the 3rd-5th rounds next draft. That will likely be a couple hundred thousand dollars in bonus and I think that is meaningful enough for a kid who is a long shot to ever make it to the bigs with the swing-and-miss in his game.
  14. Seems like a solid dude and wish him the best. He should’ve looked into a grad program in nutrition though.
  15. WANT. 13.67 K/9 and threw a No-No against UC Riverside (I'm aware how shitty they are). He got better as the season went on- reached season low ERA after last appearance. While Big West competition has slipped recently (19th best RPI conference), he did show he can do it against legitimate competition: Gonzaga: 7 IP, 1 H, 0 ER, 7K, 1 BB Oregon State: 3.1 IP, 0 H, 0 ER, 6K, 3 BB
  16. Hurley is pretty interesting to me. He's 6'8 and PG had his velo at 93 out of high school- no clue where he sits now. That said, nobody on our squad who threw > 15 IP had a lower K/9 ratio. Maybe some life/upside left in the arm? *NERD EDIT* Another stat- Looked at the 767 qualified D1 pitchers at D1's stat page. There are 203 pitchers who had as low of a H/9 ratio as Hurley (8.38). Every single one of them had a higher K/9 ratio. Is this telling us he's fortunate he didn't get touched up harder? Or is that some kind of proof of pitchability/ good stuff? Here's how Hurley / Skenes/ Smeltz (Purdue kid) stack up compared to this past years roster:
  17. While we are jerking ourselves off in this world... 321.09 would be good for 7th best class since 2010.
