  1. he likes to go to work where he has 100 employees so he has 100 friends and nobody can say no to being his friend
  2. yeah i'd say spark, katana, or whatever the yamaha thing is - people like all of those options
  3. Noodling around on the last thing that I wrote for the songwriting group. I wrote it on my j45, liked parts of it and not other parts and now I’m on a 72 thinline kick and it’s evolving a little bit. But, just noodles
  4. This has been awesome to watch
  5. man it is also a get unstuck/find inspiration methodology. I've been on a long Les Paul kick, both my 86 and the gold top. I was just trying to pick out this Ratboys song that I've been into and realized they were tuned to Eb, so I picked up the 72 thinline and tuned it down and man I'm just all about playing that guitar right now.
  6. All gas no …. headstock breaks?
  7. I highly suspect that on a guitar like a Tele, outside of the mass/density of the wood there is no fucking difference tonally between the specific tree. I don't know how spruce compares with ash or I supposed alder, but I think I did see something about ash being phased out altogether? https://www.guitarworld.com/features/fender-will-no-longer-use-ash-bodies-for-production-line-guitars-we-found-out-why-and-what-woods-will-be-used-instead guess that's old news spruce is actually interesting for a tele now that I think about it. Seems like a waste of spruce? but.... yeah i want this (this is from some random googling, no idea what the new limited editions will look like)
  8. Yeah that used to bother me a lot more and is still a thing. I think it’s why I didn’t like Gibsons for so long - just used to the Fender or Martin scale. Not to mention all of the other differences in the geometry of the guitar. At this point I’m just kinda used to all of them though, and it’s maybe part of the feel thing that I’m looking for. The way I want to dig out a chord when I’m holding a tele is different than with a Les Paul. It was an a-ha when I realized that J45s are shorter than Martin dreadnoughts. That’s why the flat picking stuff feels a bit floppier.
  9. I'm not a knob twiddler. I've used very little of the strymon pedals I have - I love the sounds and I'll switch between a few things but mostly I have it set like I like it and I leave it alone. Similar for OD pedals, which I usually just adjust to account for the output level of the guitar. I like the very uncomplicated control setup of my Matchless. I have a "clean" (crunchy glassy clean) setting and a rock distortion setting saved on my postivegrid and that's what i use. Really mostly just use that "clean when soft, gritty when loud" setting and have the distortion thing for when I want to some light chugging. When I played bass I set the EQ flat and then usually just nudged the mids up to sound right in the mix. Anyways, the guitars for sure sound different. And feel different. Even the ones that are on paper quite similar. I like having lots of guitars out because I'll often switch around to find the mood or sound I'm looking for. Beyond that of course, I also just like having the guitars.
  10. his quick = french toast 10 years ago if you said that by 1 on a Sunday I would have gone grocery shopping at two stores and then spent several hours in the lake and then had a picnic…
  11. Well I wasn’t wrong to be concerned about the leadership change - my group got axed. Such is life. Interview with the engineering manager went well - he seems like we’d work well together, I think he got a decent sense of what i am and what I’m not, he said at the end that i was the second person he hasn’t rejected outright and he’d set up some interviews with the team. I’m a little antsy because I was hoping to hear before the end of the week and I have not. I have another interview set up for a different position at the same company (big industrial) but I think I’m less of a fit. Would love to land this gig and pocket the severance - this would be my third organization doing digital industrial analytics and i feel like it would set me up well.
  12. You throw a 😆 on a few stories and then it starts giving you the Gig’em Gazette https://www.facebook.com/share/VbK4u6FbqVhT2qnT/?mibextid=WC7FNe lol the cope
