  1. I’m happy that I will never have to watch Bregman struggle every April and May again.
  2. Sell cash covered puts on days in which a decent stock is getting hammered
  3. I appreciate the commitment to the bit.
  4. What’s their recourse if Trump ignores them? Will they strenuously object? Write a sternly worded letter?
  5. I’m disgusted but intrigued at the same time.
  6. And it will stop after the 6th grade.
  7. There is nothing quite like a good piece of hickory!
  8. You know what I want the Democratic congress critters to do - Win more elections. They need to do a better job of crafting their message, getting out the vote and gerrymandering House seats in Blue states. You Play to Win the Game!
  9. If Bregman actually takes that reported offer from the Cubs, I can only conclude that someone in the Astros clubhouse has been responsible for tying his shoes every day because he’s clearly not intelligent enough to do that himself. Turning down a guaranteed $50 million extra and trying to make that up by opting out will likely never happen. He’s a good player who has already begun his decline and if MLB doesn’t go back to the 2019 baseballs, he will never get the $200 million he wants. Did he really get that upset because his annual comp was going to decrease by $2 million?
  10. There is definitely that risk due to the market cap weighting. Invesco has an equal weight S&P 500 fund but it comes with a higher cost at .20%.
  11. From my perspective, I’m not going to try and create a diverse stock portfolio in my own. For money that I want invested in equities, I use either VOO (Vanguard’s S&P 500 ETF) or VTI (Vanguards US total stock market ETF). These provide broad diversification at a .03% expense ratio.
  12. Generally speaking a SWF only makes sense for a country with a surplus. For the US, a SWF either results in more government borrowing or alternatively cuts to other government programs to fund the SWF.
  13. We already have a good example of the impacts of tariffs from the first Trump administration with washing machines. He imposed a 20 to 50% tariff on residential washing machines in his first term. The tariffs expired in 2023. Immediately after imposing the tariffs, the price of US made washing machines increased greater than the overall rate of inflation. Samsung and LG ultimately ended up putting a couple of plants in the US creating approximately 2,000 jobs. When the tariffs expired in 2023, the price of washing machines decreased. One study estimated that each new job created by the tariffs cost American consumers $815,000.
  14. She’s starting to look like RFK.
  15. This eliminates the first 2 choices. Fairly certain the Mormons check your 1040 to verify your tithe was at least 10%.
  16. I’m not sure he gets confirmed. They can only lose 3 Rs assuming that all of the D senators vote no. He’s a pro-choice legacy Democrat. I’m most likely going to be disappointed when the 20 R Senators who know RFK has no business in this role flip coins to see who gets to cast the 3 no votes allowing the couch fucker to break the tie.
  17. Totally agree with this - Grilling backstrap is my goto and I never let it get above 130 degrees. Medium rare blackstrap with a baked potato always hits the spot.
  18. Sorry for your loss - RIP
  19. To add to the 2 posts above, corporate dividends are effectively subject to double-tax. To get dividend treatment at the individual level, the payor needs to be a corporation which is subject to tax itself. There are games to be played with respect to tax-free returns of basis but the business-owner described above utilizes an entity taxed as a new partnership to avoid this double-tax (generally).
  20. I just sold NVDA puts with $100 strike. Also sold AVGO puts with a $170 strike.
  21. At yesterday’s valuations, lots of folks were looking for any reason to sell some of these names at a profit. After a few days, the froth will start to come back because FOMO. Also, are people really going to park money in bonds?
  22. Can these 2 teams play every week?
