  1. My doctor told me to stock up on Elderberry as studies have shown it effective at limiting the effects of coronavirus strains. I have not taken any of it yet but figure there will be a run on it soon.
  2. Reminds me of the Duke of Duval aka George Parr and his ballot box stuffing for LBJ down in San Diego, TX. Ol' Parr was a weasel and UT Law grad who ran things like his dad before him out in Duval and Jim Wells. Hellhole.
  3. Nope. No suspects either. The original innocent man arrested was released from jail without so much as an apology and went to start a new life in Florida. Seems that a bunch of vibrant folks from Pleasant Grove in Dallas head out to Texas A&M Commerce to party and make trouble. Seems like a s-u-p-e-r boring campus when I have driven by it. More prison like than Sam Houston State. Which says something.
  4. Possible case in Houston area: https://www.fox26houston.com/news/brazos-county-investigating-suspected-coronavirus-case-in-patient-who-traveled-from-china "patient met the criteria for coronavirus testing and is being kept isolated at home". Yeah this worked so well for Dallas with the guy who had Ebola. He went out shopping at Northpark and coughed all over everyone eating at Maggianos and painted/sprayed a stall brown in the Men's restroom 4 feet high coming out of both ends.
  5. Private schools in Dallas are starting to send kids home early as a precaution due to expected storms. Which is silly because schools are some of the best built structures in town.
  6. Shotdown by a pair of SA-15 SAMs says Newsweek: https://www.newsweek.com/iranians-shot-down-ukraine-flight-mistake-sources-1481313 The guy that pushed the button on this missile -- do you think he'll be promoted to Launch Commander for Iran's nuclear missile program? This is a prime example of why Iran should not have nuclear bombs.
  7. The TOR II AA missile debris would likely be miles from the crash site as the aircraft flew a considerable distance in miles before crashing.
  8. There will be cockpit transmissions to ATC broadcast in the open air with a fire and descent like that. Open pan-pan and mayday calls with a discussion of what happened. That should already be known by international authorities. Interesting. Interesting.
  9. Some recent kidnappings at the Nuevo Progreso Bridge crossing as well. I was in Nuevo Progreso, Mexico a few days ago and it was all the talk. Since I drive a 4x4 SUV I won't take it across the river and instead park it on the Texas side of the border. It would be prime pickings in Mexico and since I can't take guns with me, I'd have to give up my vehicle.
  10. Former Dallas City Council Member Kevin Felder indicted his morning: Former Dallas City Council member Kevin Felder indicted over scooter collision He allegedly failed to stop and render aid after hitting a motorized scooter rider near Fair Park in February. The indictment is a third-degree felony charge. https://www.dallasnews.com/news/2019/12/19/former-dallas-city-council-member-kevin-felder-indicted-over-scooter-collision/ Former Dallas City Council member Kevin Felder was indicted by a Dallas County grand jury Thursday morning for allegedly failing to stop and render aid after hitting a motorized scooter rider near Fair Park in February. Felder, who represented South Dallas and parts of East Dallas and lost his re-election bid this year, was released on a personal recognizance bond shortly after he was arrested in February. Police said Felder left the scene after colliding with a teenager Feb. 13 in the 2500 block of Malcolm X Boulevard. News of the indictment was first reported by WFAA-TV (Channel 8). Felder’s attorney, Russell Wilson, didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment Thursday. In the arrest warrant affidavit, police said they spoke to the scooter rider, who alleged a blue Ford Fusion struck him from behind. Through his attorney at the time, Peter Schulte, Felder denied that a collision occurred......................................................
  11. It's not accurate. Martha's Club where they have the Donkey Show is in the southwest corner of the inner plaza. Not even sure Americans can get there now. Calle Monterrery is run by the Cartels and wicked dangerous at night.
  12. Incidents like that are what led to an egress of African Americans out of rural East Texas and into cities like Houston and Dallas. Not talked about too much but given the opportunity for mobility out of a farm setting many took the gamble to move away from all that. Couple Freedmen's Towns in Dallas formed as a result of this migration. Tennessee Colony is one example of a Freedmen's Town that stayed put and clustered African Americans in a community. It still exists today and a fun place to visit not far from Slocum.
  13. Watching the rounds hit the UPS truck there were a number of high flier shots towards the roofline midway back. That is some poor marksmanship. One of the other videos I saw has a high number of ricochets off the pavement as rounds are skipping wildly across the pavement. Pure nuts insanity. Just nuts. Using citizens and their cars as cover is just insane.
  14. That Hunt County Sheriff really botched this one....and the Texas Rangers. Starting to wonder if the Texas Rangers have lost their shine. Come election time I would guess that Hunt County Sheriff will face some competition at the polls. Meanwhile, a murderer goes free and on the loose. Mighty fine police work charging an innocent man with a crime punishable by death.
  15. Channel 8 was granted a jail house interview with the suspect: https://www.wfaa.com/article/news/crime/accused-greenville-shooter-speaks-from-hunt-county-jail/287-4842d210-5815-4033-bcb8-896674b21f71 Suspect says he was dressed in a Halloween costume as a security guard with a plate carrier, with the plates removed. He and many of his friends are telling the police that he was not the shooter and was sitting in his car at the time of the gunfire. Suspect feels as though he was fingered for it because of his costume. Apparently a number of witnesses are now talking to the police and saying they arrested the wrong person. Time will tell...... If you watch the interview the suspect shifts his eyes for some of his answers which is often a tell that he is lying. But whatever. Who knows.
  16. They are all students of the Don't talk to the Police videos.
  17. Channel 8 was talking during their 5:30pm newscast on Sunday evening about the cap still in place but could break. Around 6 a large storm started building to the SW of DFW. The anvil ruined the sunset and made it hard for me to finish grilling dinner outdoors without lights on in Dallas. One of the best guys to follow on storms is Steve McCauley. Not sure if he is still with Channel 8 but he does an excellent job forecasting weather from his house in Heath near Rockwall. https://www.facebook.com/wfaa.steve.mccauley/ If you look back through his facebook feed he started posting about the storm at 7:07pm.
  18. KXAS Channel 5 issued an apology about not breaking into the Cowboys game: https://www.nbcdfw.com/weather/stories/NBC-5-Dallas-Fort-WorthKXAS-Statement-Regarding-Sunday-Oct-20-2019-Weather-Coverage-563578861.html Ol' Meterologist Harold Taft who was the patriarch of Texas weather worked for decades at KXAS. He would take a flamethrower to that station if he was still alive for not breaking programming. Knuckleheads at Channel 5 are ruining the legacy he built there as a trusted source of weather. Have to stick I guess with sensationalized roll your sleeves up Nebraskans like Pete Delkus over at Channel Ocho.
  19. Thomas Jefferson area had about 5 minutes advanced warning if you were not watching the Cowboy game. If you were watching the Cowboys there was no advanced notice. Channel 5 KXAS did not break programming with radar and location till the tornado was over the tollroad. Preston Hollow area had about 12 minutes of warning. I started watching the weather closely when large hail was kicking out of storms to the west and started putting up things and moving the cars into the garage. That was 8:45. By 9:00 we were starting to look at getting ready to shelter. If you were watching the Cowboys game on NBC Channel 5 you would be unaware of any of this because they did not break into the Cowboys game till very late. Tornado sirens were going off shortly after 9pm in North Dallas but they are hard to hear inside larger well built homes. Miracle no one was killed. KXAS Channel 5 is now facing enforcement action by the FCC by not broadcasting the tornado warning with written words and vocally for the disabled as required by law. They also blocked the Emergency Alert System warning which is another FCC enforcement action on their license. According to other media sources they will face sanctions and heavy fines.
  20. I grew up in Preston Hollow. This is the second tornado to take basically this exact same path. In May 1976 a tornado literally walked the same route. It started over near Walnut Hill and Harry Hines and then lifted around Central and Northaven. Back in '76 it smashed Northhaven Gardens, Preston Royal Shopping Center and a number of the neighborhood streets in that area to pieces. The '76 tornado also wrecked some of the St Marks tennis courts and soccer goals back then. The same area now has a gym on it which was wrecked as well. My brother lives in Richardson, he was at the Cowboys game last night and I raced up to his house from Lakewood to check on his house. Made it as far up Abrams Road as Walnut on the north side of Richland College before getting into the debris field. Roads were blocked with powerlines down. Tornado likely went across the barren fields of Richland College before entering the neighborhood there. I zig zagged around that neighborhood trying to get to my brother's home. Could not get there that way. Lots of folks temporarily trapped in houses with people crying inside that I could see. Lots of gas leaks. Eventually made it around to Spring Valley where the damage was lighter. Brother's house lost a bunch of shingles and I was able to repair it with blue tarps and staples till it can be repaired. Not sure if that mosque and another church came out well. Some amazing damage out there. Mostly larger trees. Many structures look fine and if a property was not treed there is a good chance it came out unscathed. Seems the flying debris was not the main player here and more likely trees throwing limbs onto things. Driving back a different way last night it looked like Texas Instruments took a big hit at the Forest Lane campus. That place got clobbered. Kings X might have been hit hard, for the poster who asked. A real mess there and I don't plan on gawking at damage for a week or two.
  21. "Officer resigned before his opportunity to cooperate" "Had the officer not resigned I would have fired him for violations of several policies." So the officer has resigned in lieu of termination. Chief said he was going to fire him for violating the UOF policy and deescalation policy. It's gonna be interesting.
