  1. They way things are going, and given my surly & s/m posting history, I won't be surprised if they pop open a door and start strafing my house.
  2. True enough. So that leaves us with the question of whether or not saving $1M/accepting Obama's dirty covid vaxxer $ was worth all those lives lost. ETA: That said, for some reason I was under the impression that those helos were making all those flights in support of the recovery effort. If it's not that, then what kind of assistance are they giving to the cleanup? Serious question. Anyone?
  3. I hear ya. I'm not on the "Fuck 'em, don't help 'em at all" train. I was thinking more in terms of how little an ounce of prevention would have cost vs what that lack of preparation has cost us (just in monetary terms, setting aside the human toll for a moment).
  4. So they coulda had an early warning system for about $1M, right? I've been seeing/hearing several heavy military helos every day for a couple of weeks going to and from Ingram, etc. They fly right past my house. I wonder how much that has cost so far.
  5. My God. It's full of stars ...
  6. Pure greatness, this episode. If you haven't seen it yet, do so asap.
  7. Exactly how I saw him, and how I see him watching these videos. The music just flows through him.
  8. Seeing Gary Clark Jr play last night at the Mo Amer show at the Moody Theater got me to thinking about guitarists, which of course always leads to me thinking about the greatest ever to pick up a guitar - our own SRV. Just watched this clip again and played it for my kid, without showing him the screen during the behind the back bit at the end. Then I turned the screen around in the middle of that part and he lost his mind. (eta: quoted the wrong post, shoulda been the Texas Flood El Mocambo video above, but y'all knew what I meant) SRV could do what other guitarists only dreamed of - behind his back, while singing. Fucking unbelievable. The way he played was supernatural. I can only assume he had a deal with the devil a la Tommy Johnson in O Brother Where Art Thou (Robert Johnson irl). And to think we used to be able to see him play for free, or for like 5 bucks, on like a Tuesday night under an assumed name on 6th Street.
  9. Just got home from tonight's sold out show at the Moody Theater. 2nd stop of his current standup tour that started in Houston last night. 3 warmup comics, who were all very funny, then a long, funny show from Mo. The DJs playing beforehand said they had big surprises in store, & I saw the stage set up for a band, but I didn't think too much of it. When Mo was done, he brought out Robert Glasper & his crew. They played for a while, including backing up Mo singing Minnie the Moocher and What a Wonderful World, before Mo brought out one more guest to play - Gary Clark, Jr. What an amazing and unexpected bonus on top of a bunch of great standup. Awesome night.
  10. I dunno, but it looks real to me. Here (spoilered) is a different post of it that also points out how the guy moves the photogs over right by the steps as the Secret Service moves Trump down the steps, and just lets them stay there a few feet from Trump, with no concern at all for their safety & no concern that they could also be threats. Bizarre. If there was actually a shooter, nobody would be allowed to get that close. IF this video is real, then it's obvious that the assassination attempt was faked imho. Compare the SS reaction above to a different one where there was merely a protestor in the crowd at a rally. No weapon. No shots fired ...
  11. My instant reaction when I first saw it the day it happened was that it was staged - based on the way the Security Detail surrounded Trump and then just stood there instead of whisking him right out of there. But got damn, that angle makes it look more fake than anything else I've seen, by a mile. From the photographer casually moving around taking pics, to the lack of urgency in the crowd and the unconvincing shouts of "We love you", "Oh no. He's shot", the "USA USA" chant breaking out (WTaF), the flag being lowered into the shot, etc. Chilling stuff.
  12. Finally, some diversity in that office ...
  13. Yep.How is this so hard for people to understand (the people saying "See, he DID teach at MIT!!1!")
  14. If they cancel TDS, it'll have a huge future online imho. 100% this.
  15. lmfao.
  16. Am I the only one hitting a paywall?
  17. nsiap ... Revealed: Trump has launched as many air strikes in five months as Biden did in four years Despite pledging not to engage in conflict overseas, the US president has sharply escalated attacks https://www.telegraph.co.uk/world-news/2025/07/16/trump-airstrike-tally-matches-biden-four-year-total/
  18. Exactly what I was about to ask. "We get loads of these vague messages, so ... " "So, what, you just ignore them?" "No, we don't ... I mean ... uh ... derp. And did I mention derp?" "Then why was this one ignored. If they're all the same and you don't usually ignore them, then why was this one ignored. It couldn't be different if they're all the same."
  19. Well, this. And as I mentioned before, it really is just that fucking simple. If someone with a pulse and two functioning brain cells to rub together had simply been awake and monitoring the situation, NOBODY would have died at Camp Mystic.
  20. So, if there's spraying/weather control, who do they think is behind it? The Republicans control everything, so wouldn't they be to blame? Someone make it make sense.
  21. I don't know shit about fuck, but when I was looking for seats on the resale market last year, it looked pretty damn solid. I couldn't justify the cost for any of the seats I'd wanna sit in.
  22. This is the way. And there is another nextdoor (forget the name), and a big one down by T11. https://austinraceparking.com/
  23. I'm not a fan of Apple products, but the streaming service is the best one out there imho and very much worth the sub, even without F1. Hell, Severed alone justifies the cost imho.
  24. Pretty sure it's because this car is soooo much worse than anything Seb or Webbo or Danny ever drove at RBR. Just as changing track conditions reveal more about differences in driver skill up and down the grid, the harder a team's car is to drive, the bigger the gap in performance will be between teammates. When the car is bad, it highlights both the better driver's ability to adapt and the lesser driver's inability to do the same. When the car is easier to drive, the lesser driver will tend to be closer to the better driver. Seb is no Max. Not even close. He was never a dominant driver, as has been revealed in his post-RBR career. He had the dominant car on the grid and only had to beat his teammate to win a championship, which is very often the case in F1. He was just able to consistently get a little bit more out of the car than Mark - who was a very good driver, but not a great one.
  25. IMHO ... Probably makeup to cover the bruising old folks often get with an IV, esp in the hand.
