  1. This is so dumb. Especially from someone like you who continually points to results in every other argument you’ve ever made. It’s a result oriented business. Everyone coaches to get fired or be told it’s time. Even the legends. Augie coached his final 3-4 years without even knowing most of the names of the players on the team. He was a figurehead while Skip Johnson basically ran the day to day and we saw the results. Good AD’s know when it’s time and strategize exits before things fall off a cliff. Steve Patterson and Mike Perrin allowed us to go over 700 days without winning a conference series because of they were either a) scared or b) holding onto the past.
  2. These are the dumbest arguments. Yes, one of the best players for Texas had to play well to give Texas a chance to win. You can’t just remove his performance and then ask what would happen. Good players impact winning. It’s not just a Texas thing.
  3. Had to triple check to make sure this wasn’t a comment from 6th street
  4. Not to mention they hit 81% of them which is well above their season average.
  5. This was basically an upside only game and we somehow still found a way to make it worse.
  6. The collapse started well before he was put in.
  7. Fml this free throw shooting contest that is about to happen
  8. At least their 3 point % went down that possession
  9. Baylor is atrocious defensively man. It’s like watching an NBA game at times.
  10. This team is fun to watch. They may be flawed but they have been playing hard and seem to be in sync.
  11. There is no one who hates on him more than me but I’ll even admit he has looked better the last few weeks.
  12. I have no evidence of this but we have lost every opening tip this season
  13. I will say it would not shock me if LBJ was available for an inning on what would typically be his bullpen day. As you said, Gordon threw last year in this game. That said, I don’t think quality wins and losses are a standalone thing on a baseball resume. It’s all baked into the RPI calculations (there is overall RPI, non con RPI, non con SOS). It’s pretty much shown every year and the committee goes straight RPI when comparing teams. And we still have a road game at Texas State and the RPI calculations weigh road wins as almost 2x more valuable than home wins.
  14. Yeah, recruiting is about 85% of the college game. Finding the balance between recruiting guys you know will make it to campus vs draft risks, managing 11.7 scholarships, increasing or decreasing a kids scholarship once they are on campus, managing the portal, managing the JUCO ranks, knowing which guys off your current team might get drafted and properly filling holes a year or two in advance, keeping the freshman backup happy as a senior transfer plays in front of him, managing the ego of a kid and his “advisor”. But yes, other than that, piece of cake.
  15. If we won that game, we are ranked today and looking at potentially a top 5 conference finish. Margins are razor thin in this league. Just the way it is.
  16. Big loss for Tech https://www.lubbockonline.com/story/sports/college/red-raiders/2024/03/03/texas-tech-baseball-third-baseman-kevin-bazzell-expected-to-miss-opening-big-12-series-vs-texas/72834386007/
  17. Current hitting Current pitching
  18. Fair. Maybe Hurley needs to go back to the pen like he ended last year. I would like to see us stretch out Gage Boehm but removing him from the bullpen right now leaves you with a lonely feeling.
  19. Last year definitely featured a little tougher competition through 11 games imo. Indiana and Fullerton both were regional teams. San Diego might be but Cal Poly definitely is not. It will even out though because we don't have any Manhattan or New Orleans type series coming up like last year did. Which rotation did we have more confidence in at this point? Gordon-Morehouse-Sthele or LBJ-Hurley-Howard?
  20. A month and a half ago, we discussed how 3-15 was on the table and realistic as a final record in conference play.
  21. -OU is in trouble again. And it's pitching again, which has become a theme under Skip. Funny note: Justin Eckhardt got the save against them for Ohio State yesterday -Texas Tech playing Texas Southern and Gardner Webb in back-to-back weekends is embarrassing and will cost them come tournament time. -TCU played with fire again this weekend but again it didn't burn them. - WVU and Cincy suck. Might be 2 of the worst 3 teams along with Baylor and we don't play either of them.
  22. It is not really an accepted practice and Tadlock has gotten blasted on it the last few years. It has cost him some players. His recruiting practices is the reason Ivan Melendez ended up at Texas and not Texas Tech. That was an all-time screw-up. But we did oversign a tad this year and had to cut 4-5 freshman. It's just not something you want to get in the habit of doing yearly.
